19.01.2022 Christmas present - Rustic replacement seat for an oak lyrebird spindle back chair. The rimu (pine like) seat which some dodgy dude had replaced in the past was an impressively poor substitute for the original oak seat. Even more impressive was the use of plaster instead of glue. :D Made and polished in Brisbane, fitted up in Melbourne.

17.01.2022 If your kids have a habit of rocking on the dining chairs.........perhaps fitting a 5mm thick lump of folded lead to the front rail is not the answer. :D That's certainly a unique solution

16.01.2022 These may be Shellac (french polished), Oiled, or Waxed. The finish used is reflective of the items age, social stature and place of origin. Traditional finishes require more maintenance than Modern Lacquer.... Oil and Wax finishes are relatively quick to complete, however require yearly or bi-yearly maintenance. French Polishing is quite time consuming to apply, and is quite difficult to achieve high-end finishes. French Polished furniture provides the greatest lustre of all finishes when completed. Oil, Wax and Shellac are all renewable products.
