22.01.2022 Here at the Art + Objects Salon we are pleased to offer two earlier artworks by Australian contemporary artist Rone , one of which was featured as a a discreet background to an artwork in the recent ‘RONE in Geelong’ Exhibition. Fortunately, before closing date, Christine, managed to see this incredible exhibition and despite it being a wet and cold day it was worth every discomfort of the wild weather to step foot into the Geelong Art Gallery and be mesmerised by this exceptional exhibition. #roneingeelong #rone #australiancontemporaryart #australiancontemporaryartist #australianstreetart #australianstreetartist #visitclunesvictoria #visithepburnshire #artandobjectssalonclunes

21.01.2022 Artist Profile - Rone. Finding the friction point between beauty and decay is a thread that runs through much of Rone’s work. As a street artist best known for his haunting, stylised images of women’s faces, he understands better than most that beauty can be fleeting. Seeing his artworks gradually worn away by natural and human elements has taught him to appreciate the unexpected beauty of an image as it begins to blend back into its more prosaic surroundings. Rone has gone f...rom spearheading Melbourne’s fledgling street art movement in the early 2000s, as a member of the Everfresh crew, to being a celebrated fixture on the international street art scene. An inveterate traveller, his distinctive female muses have followed him around the world, and can be found in various states of decay peering out from beneath overpasses and emblazoned on walls everywhere from New York to New Zealand and many places in between. These days, Rone’s work is found as often in galleries as it is on the streets. His work has been acquisitioned by the National Gallery of Australia, commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria to work with Jean Paul Gaultier and shown by galleries in London, Berlin and New York. #roneingeelong #contemporaryart #australiancontemporaryart #australuancontemporaryartist #streetart #streetartist #artandobjectssalonclunes #visitclunesvictoria #visithepburnshire

17.01.2022 Artist Profile - Margaret Woodward. Born in 1938, Margaret enjoyed a lifetime career as an artist, achieving both commercial and critical success. Her work has been awarded major prizes and is included in important public collections. But, as many of her female colleagues have found, the road to success is neither straightforward nor forgiving. She excelled as a student at the National Art School and worked with many of the big names in Sydney Douglas Dundas, Peter Lavert...y, Godfrey Miller and John Passmore in the late 1950s, when women teachers were few and far between. Her early life was not easy, instilling a determination to succeed and an undaunted work ethic. She understood that art was a serious business and that to succeed, discipline and concentration on the task at hand were essentials. Woodward made drawing central and, as ‘From the Studio’ (her survey exhibition at Wahroonga’s Grace Cossington Smith Gallery at Abbotsleigh) attests, line has been at the heart of her paintings and drawings. Despite her studious and dedicated approach, her work has never been tight or formulaic, with a freedom and liveliness that is key to her appeal. Her figure work, animal studies, still life and landscapes all have a studied elegance of composition, no matter what the mood. That seriousness of approach becomes evident in her subject matter, creating images that can have a dark intensity, making large and powerful works from what some might see as eccentric subject matter. The inclusion of individuals with disabilities, often depicted with a Goyaesque darkness, are studies in difference and power, not pity. 15.01.2022 Artistic Quote - Many people turn to the portfolios of prolific artists, writers, and other creatives when seeking artistic inspiration. In addition to their powerful bodies of work, however, it is also worth listening to the words spoken, written, and shared by these influential figures. Many creatives offer quotes about art in an effort to inform their audience and impart their wisdom to artistic hopefuls.

10.01.2022 Artist Profile - Jay Carnegie Muir. Jay Carnegie Muir is an Australian artist who has developed a uniquely recognisable style. His artworks bear motifs from Australian culture featuring Koalas, and he says that Australia is his muse, and Koalastralia is his creative expression. When he was just 5 years old, he moved from Scotland to Australia and that’s the point at which he recognised himself as an artist. Koala-stralia art started off in a style that we know from Colombi...an artist Fernando Botero who painted cute, fleshy figures. Muir creates similar figures, however, they have one more quality: they were more ‘Koala’ than human. Another artist who has impacted on Muir’s work is Hieronymus Bosch, whose extraordinary creativity amazes and inspires Muir. Currently, he finds the internet, with its sea of imagery, music, and knowledge the most inspiring source of inspiration. As he matured, he refined his figures and now they have swapped into being more human than Koala. His recent works are narrative based, they explain to us what’s represented and tell a story about the main characters. We can easily understand that if we read the title of each one. 05.01.2022 Drawing from his sketchbooks Jay Carnegie Muir represents dreaming on paper and the act helps him to overcome any barrier to inspiration, especially when stories start to form. When he creates a new work, a couple of words that he received as a comment on one of his artworks on Instagram page serve as a guideline. Examples of comments are quirky, clever and joyful We are delighted to inform our art enthusiasts and collectors that we have a range of Jay’s art works at the ...Art + Objects Salon. Open on weekends, Sat - Sun 11.00am - 3.00pm. Come in for a browse when you are next visiting the historic Fraser Street precinct or contact us online.
