21.01.2022 Nature in Watercolour Before our zoom art class, we each went on an adventure to find leaves (or flowers) in our gardens or out in the park. When looking for leaves, gather leaves in nature that inspire you, look for different shapes and colours. Collect as little or as many leaves as you like. Then we got painting using the leaf or flower as inspiration! Materials Needed:... grey lead pencil watercolour paper (find this at Kmart or $2 shop) watercolour paint or watercolour pencils paintbrushes water jar If you do not have watercolour paint or paper just grab what is easy for you. Any kind of paper and colour pencils or crayons will work as well. See more

20.01.2022 #InternationalDayOfPeopleWithADisability (IDPwD) is a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions. ADEC is celebrating #IDPwD by launching an online art exhibition #StayingConnected. This exhibition is part of our project ArtAbility" funded by the Darebin City Council. Here we celebrate both the artwork and artists from... #culturally and #linguistically diverse backgrounds who continued engaging and connecting through art during the pandemic. ArtAbility is an inspiring visual arts program and exhibition run by Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities (ADEC) that unites, recognises and celebrates a range of talented artists who are living with a #disability, experience mental ill health or are from culturally diverse backgrounds. 16.01.2022 Last week's online art therapy class was all about the accessible and easy technique called 'Pointillism'. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of colour are applied in patterns to form an image. It is a mindful activity that will have you right in the moment in no time. No previous experience was necessary!... Here are the materials we used: Paper or canvas (if using paper try to get a heavy stock paper or cardboard) Acrylic paint (or watercolour if you have no acrylic paint) paint pallet Paint brush Water jar pencil rubber skewers and/or cotton tips (anything with a blunt end) #arttherapy #artability #adec

Materials needed foil... This coming week we will be bringing these foil friends to life we thought a perfect place to start is with The Corona Cleaner so clever! #artability #adec #coronacleaner
02.01.2022 Painting our way through lockdown! We are excited to announce that ADEC will be running another 10 ArtAbility online art therapy weekly workshops starting next week on Friday 14th August and have spots remaining for people residing in the City of Darebin who are living with a disability, experience of mental ill health or from a CALD background. The workshops are free and held on Fridays at 10am over zoom for 1 hour. They are fun, exciting and inclusive sessions conducted by ...a qualified Art Therapist. No experience required and materials are those you can find around the home. This really is a lovely way for people to stay connected and have a bit of fun at home whilst we are in lockdown. To participate, you don’t have to have an art background, you just need to have an interest in giving it a go and seeing where your artistic flare may go! Feedback from the last online workshops we ran: Fascinating, thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the group. United by one thing and that is art Fun and exciting Connectedness, inclusive, motivated and a creative release We will be working towards hosting an online art exhibition to celebrate the wonderful artworks later in the year. If you would like to participate, please contact Sharyn [email protected] to get registered.
