25.01.2022 To remind me of a time when travel was still allowed, this little print of my painting 'Madrid in May' is keeping me company. May last year, when we were still allowed to travel we visited spain for a family holiday. On a peaceful stroll around the bustling city of Madrid we came upon this cute alley way. I loved the geometry of the street with its multi-storey yellow and pink apartment buildings, and the little shops. Such a nostalgic place. I look forward to being able to t...ravel to Europe again. Spain was such a lovely place to visit. View more products at my redbubble store... https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/60284613

21.01.2022 Last time I went to Riot art, the shelves were almost bare! I think everyone has decided to get in touch with their creative side while they are in isolation. The downside of that is that there was only one canvas left! A huge one (at least by my standards) 91cm x 91cm. Desperate to continue playing with my pallet knife I thought I’d take up the challenge! The result are these Golden Pear Blossoms. I painted these from a photo I took in the spring of the beautiful blossoms th...at were budding on my ornamental pears. They just looked so sweet.... This painting is available on Bluethumb https://bluethumb.com.au/artby/Artwork/golden-pear-blossoms

18.01.2022 I'm enjoying the challenge of drawing faces. Rather than just choose beautiful people, I wanted to try and draw real people. This old man was interesting as I tried to capture the age and years in his face... What do you like to draw?

17.01.2022 My 14 year old son, Eddie, just finished this painting... he’s painting a series if views in Amsterdam. ... I think he’s going to be a better painter than me! ... shortly to be uploaded to Bluethumb. #youthartist #artbyedwardherman #youngpassionforpainting #southaustralianartist #bluethumbart @bluethumbart @artloversaustralia

14.01.2022 My theme for my 2018 SALA exhibition was flowers. Pink flowers featured alongside my ‘Sunflowers’, ‘Gerbera’ and ‘Stocks’, and whilst I was happy with it at the time, I have increasingly found myself wanting to change it. I feel that my painting has developed since I first painted it, and I wanted to give it a touch up so that it better reflected my current style. Do you find it hard to paint over previous works? I find it difficult to make the decision to paint over an old p...ainting. There is something about risking damaging it and the fear of creating something worse, that hinders me from making that first stroke. This week I finally did it! I applied the new colour pallet I’ve been working with; watermelon pink, daintree green, bleached titanium, paperbark, titanium white and paynes gray. Of course the blue vase remained though I updated the blue with my new colours. I think the update has have worked well and I’m really happy with the new texture created by the pallet knife. I am now happy to relist it on Bluethumb Check out my before and after slide below https://amyhermanart.wordpress.com//pink-flowers-refreshed/ @bluethumb

14.01.2022 Gold Pear Blossoms are now available on floor cushions. I'm seriously thinking of getting some of these for my living room. It would be great to have some big cushions to sit on whilst playing board games with the kids... These are available on redbubble... https://www.redbubble.com//Golden-Pear-Blos/48605582.TMTL5

14.01.2022 I like to think about this every so often. I think being an artist is a privilege, and sometimes I feel just to be one is the success.... even if you don't sell much ...

13.01.2022 The pallet knife has always scared me. I’ve admired artists who have embraced its texture and fluid backgrounds, but I have always found it very intimidating. I decided it was time to give it a go, and I was blown away. I feel like it transformed my style, and it was exactly what I needed to take my painting style to another level. The loss of control afforded by the brush was liberating. I had to think harder about how I positioned the knife, and how I was going to render... what I was seeing. But the results where so much more than I had hoped for, and I love the texture and loose style it has given my work. I’m in love with the pallet knife; I’ve found my new favourite tool! The pallet knife has captured me and there is no going back I can’t wait to get started on the next project!.. Blushing Roses is now available to purchase at my @bluethumbart store... https://bluethumb.com.au/artbyamy/Artwork/blushing-roses-0

13.01.2022 Thought this one was pertinent to our current situation! Having no toilet paper really would make me want to 'scream'

11.01.2022 When I began my artistic journey a few years ago, I was drawn to drawing an painting eyes. I've been practicing my graphite skills, and I've renewed my love of eyes... expect to see more What do you love to draw?

11.01.2022 I'm excited to announce that my 'Fresh Pink Flowers' is now available on @bluthumbart ! This painting is an update of a painting I painted in 2018. As my style changed I increasingly felt the need to update 'Pink Flowers' ... it was in fact too pink for my liking, so I have updated it with my new favourite colour pallet and introduced some structure using the pallet knife. So much fun!!! Visit my #bluethumb profile to see what else I've been painting... https://bluethumb.com.au/artbyamy/Artwork/fresh-pink-flowers

09.01.2022 Painted in 2018, Gerberas was first exhibited in the Springton SALA Exhibition. I was drawn to the vibrant red of the Gerberas and the yellow that peaked out from underneath. The contrasting rich blue that the shadows created made the Gerberas jump off the Canvas. https://bluethumb.com.au/artbyamy

09.01.2022 Years ago, a visit to MOMA left me sad, as some of the art was quite morbid and traumatic. Since then I have avoided modern art museums... ... I like this quote. It suggests that artists are tasked with making the world just that little bit better. At least I hope that's what we as artists are able to offer in some small way. ... For that reason, I love art that observes beauty and offers to brighten the world...

07.01.2022 Artists spend hours deliberating, planning, thinking, pondering their art, and questioning their own ability... even before the brush graces the canvas. In this sense it is true that something of the artist is present in every piece of art. https://amyhermanart.wordpress.com//07/the-artist-is-pres/

05.01.2022 It seems a bit dreamy... but sometimes, I do actually dream about my art. Especially when I've been pondering what I'm going to paint, and how I'm going to do it. ... when that happens, I just get the itch to paint. Does that ever happen to you?

04.01.2022 These persimmons just jumped out at me and said... "please paint me" ... they were so bright, orange and inviting that I couldn't resist. ... they were delicious to eat too... https://bluethumb.com.au/artbyamy
