25.01.2022 It was around this time last year that I started my first studies in painting coastal shrub. In the beginning it felt laborious and really frustrating but I quickly grew to enjoy the process and the effects they bought to my paintings. I love their texture and the earthy tones against the coastal blues but most of all I love how they can create such an intriguing perspective. The east coast of Australia is littered with these beautiful Banksia shrubs that I’m constantly admiring. I took dozens of photos of them while I was down south and look forward to incorporating them into some future pieces

11.01.2022 Last week I did something that I’ve wanted to do for ages time now- I splashed out and bought myself a set of high quality acrylic paints I’ve been stewing on the idea for months, maybe even a year now. I’ve always wanted the freedom to set up on the beach or a grassy hill on a sunny day and not stress about sand and debris landing in my wet paint (for those who don’t know, oils often take days to dry) or the hassle of dealing with turps. I love painting with oils but am s...uper excited about dialling in a new medium and having the flexibility to have both options. Have any of you guys transitioned from oils to acrylics that might have a few tips? I’m also wondering if I will need a seperate set of brushes for my acrylics (hello fellow artists!) . . I was all the more stoked to hear it ended up selling out after the first week due to popular demand. 02.01.2022 It’s heating up over here and already starting to feel like summer While the borders are gonna be opening on this side but I’m sadly still locked out of W.A, so our plans to move home this summer have been cancelled and I’ll be missing my brothers wedding . I’m so excited for things to return to normal where we can visit family as we please and move freely around the country. Until then I’m pretty grateful that I’m surrounded by so many beautiful people over here with so much country side to explore and enjoy. A happy snap from a glorious day a few months back long boarding on the islands :)
