17.01.2022 Copper (Cu) is one of the most reactive pure metals on the periodic table and is one of the few metals that can be found whole directly from the earth (not alloyed). Other metals (like sterling silver) are alloyed with copper. It is an incredibly ductile metal, particularly for heat and electricity. It is used for aesthetic and practical purposes in architecture, the arts, science, engineering and medicine. Copper has been mined since 8th century bc and we still use ancient practices with copper (like copper IUD contraception) today. Trace amounts of copper are needed for us survive. 14.01.2022 Life drawing this year has felt like a slow and arduous unravelling. An unlearning. An awakening of my inner child returning to an instinct forgotten in thought, but remembered in flesh. A naive playfulness that is no longer tenable to order and refinement. Opposites have started to assimilate and coerce in the most wonderful way possible.
