23.01.2022 150 likes! Thanks for all your support! I feel honoured to support clients' emotional and creative journeys and share info and pics that I think are informative and inspiring (hopefully!). Our stories matter. Sharing our stories can allow great healing. We can also come to a place where we no longer have to stay in our story, we can choose to change it, write a new chapter or go in a new direction and explore new pathways
23.01.2022 The path isn't a straight line, it's more of a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and find new or deeper meaning..

15.01.2022 When words are not enough, we turn to images, colours and markings to tell our stories. Thanks to Cathy Malchiodi for this post and her inspiring work in art therapy and trauma
14.01.2022 Some of the benefits of art therapy and art making - self expression, reflection and discovery, being supported and heard in a safe space, relaxation, stress-relief, learning ways of managing big emotions, bringing the unconscious and hidden into conscious awareness, shadow-work in a manageable form, emotional release, generating creative ideas, different way of looking at things.. so many benefits!
12.01.2022 Creating an environment for mental wellness through lifestyle and daily choices, not necessarily all of these everyday just being mindful of the positives to include when we can. Would you add something different? Small daily choices can add up

09.01.2022 Deep breathing is one of the body's strongest self healing tools, simple and yet powerful- reducing heart rate, lowering blood pressure, decreasing stress hormones, exercising the lungs, increasing physical and mental energy and improving immunity
09.01.2022 It's been such a challenging year for many, if not all of us, so it's more important than ever to check in on people, friends, family, neighbours, co-workers, and see if everything's going ok? Sometimes just listening can be a help, or ask if there's anything you can do to help out or support them if they need, it can be a huge support to have someone checking in and keeping people connected and feeling like they matter. Because everyone matters. There's lots of tips and communication prompts at www.ruok.org.au

06.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK?... Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

04.01.2022 Art and mental health = help with processing feelings, reducing stress and anxiety, increase self esteem and improve well-being
03.01.2022 Mindfulness seems like such a simple concept and yet is so very powerful. In our busy world, and especially in these uncertain, stressful times it is more vital to find some quiet, even short moments, feeling the breath flowing in and out of your body, feeling your body where it sits, stands or lays, feeling the water running down on you in the shower, noticing the smaller details when outside in the environment, the trees, the flowers, the warmth of the sunshine on your face, the wind in your hair, the grass and dirt beneath your feet. Even when the mind keeps wandering and thinking or worrying keep bringing it back to the breath. Even if you have to keep bringing it back to the breath a hundred times, there will be moments of quiet, moments of calm, moments of feeling.

Noticing our stressors before they get out of hand, and managing them with techniques like breathing, meditation, movement (could be dancing, sweat it out with high impact exercise, swimming, walking, ball sports, skating etc), talking with a mate can all be helpful. What do you like to do to help you stress less?
01.01.2022 A simple body scan for tension, can be quick yet so effective in reducing built up daily tension or take longer and focus on each part of the body and breathe deeply and stretch it out, what an awesome pic! You can draw your body tension too, what does it look like? What colour is it? How does it feel? What helps relieve the tension? Stretching, exercise, heat/cold packs, massaging with cream or oils, music, dancing? What does it look like after stretching it out and soothing it? #bodyscan #tension #stress #breath #release #creativeexpression
