This work gives form to a complex and layered engagement with matrilineal histories, sensitively and creatively investigating the ways that knowledge is passed on through time across generations. This work is highly commended for its ability to successfully use drawing techniques in digital and screen contexts. Connecting with some of the most important social issues of our time, the work is multi-layered, using a variety of techniques and processes in its construction. 12.01.2022 Congratulations to Bachelor of Design student, Jade Farrell-Whelan for winning the ANNUAL 20 Logo Design Competition. The judging panel all agreed this was a great design which showed flexibility and adaptability to a range of formats, and is an identity that is going to be particularly successful in the digital space.

09.01.2022 UNSW Art & Design alumna Linda Sok's latest exhibition, 'Corporeal/Spiritual' is currently on display at Firstdraft, Sydney. In her latest body of work, Linda explores the relationship between the body and the sacred. It stems from an enquiry into the materiality of Joss Paper and its use in Chinese-Cambodian ceremonies such as Pchum Ben (Ancestor’s Day), in which it is ritually burned and offered for past ancestors. 09.01.2022 Congratulations to Anna Seymour for receiving a Highly Commended Award in the 2020 Tim Olsen Drawing Prize for their work, ‘Epoch’. This work is highly commended for its combination of technical skill and conceptual ambition. The work is detailed and meticulous, without being overly polite or stifled by precision. 03.01.2022 Congratulations to Eric M. Hoenig for receiving a Highly Commended Award in the 2020 Tim Olsen Drawing Prize for their work, ‘A Language of Shadows’. The work uses sculptural forms and a variety of material techniques to blur the distinction between three-dimensional form and two-dimensional mark-making. 03.01.2022 #ANNUAL20: Master of Arts alumna, Karen Riethmuller. Karen is a Sydney-based artist who explores the concept of femininity as a social construction. 01.01.2022 Congratulations to Art & Design alumnus and Kamilaroi/ Gamilaraay artist, Dennis Golding for winning the 2020 Visual Arts Emerging Fellowship. This win marks the first Aboriginal artist to take home the $30,000 prestigious Fellowship.
