25.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #3 Today's visit is to a relatively young garden. It's a celebration of renewal and optimism. Out of the ashes of fire, this much loved Strathewen garden now brings a real diversity of plants with fragrance, romance, nostalgia and boldness. A fine collection of iris adds to the show. Enjoy!

25.01.2022 Thinking about Arthurs Creek Garden Walk? Here’s a wonderful story of a dedicated gardener, albeit in a very different environment to ours, who epitomises the spirit of gardening! Enjoy...

25.01.2022 Handy hints for a traditional ANZAC treat!

25.01.2022 Simply....... Lest We Forget.

25.01.2022 As the sun shines and we still enjoy some rain, Arthurs Creek is looking wonderful. A perfect backdrop for our fabulous 31st Annual Garden Walk on Sunday 10th November. It's not just gardens, there's also plants, pottery, artworks, gifts and scrumptious food to make this a terrific day out.

25.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #10 On this day in any normal year, we would see everyone gathering at the Hall and heading off with maps and instructions to visit the gardens being opened in our area. With bouts of wind, showers and hot sun maybe it was just as well we are 'virtual' this year! Today's garden visit is to 'Sasthacht'. It's an Irish word with a fairly layered meaning but essentially the satisfaction of making or doing something, especially with your hands........ like digging a hole! So it's appropriate for this garden where a vast array of special plants and trees are strategically placed and are growing under a canopy of eucalypts on top of a hill. Wonderful stonework features throughout this unique property. A true labor of love! Enjoy. See more

25.01.2022 The countdown is on! These wonderful Delbard La Jago roses were perfect for Cup Day but you'll see so many more beautiful roses in the gardens open on Sunday 10th November for our 31st Garden Walk. At the Hall, you not only purchase your map and tickets but you'll see Jane Annois Pottery, paintings by Tara Stubley, Arthurs Creek Lavender, iris and garden plants for sale as well as garden ornaments and most importantly wonderful food to enjoy. Spot the signs around our beautiful district.

25.01.2022 Lest We Forget.

22.01.2022 An exciting project coming to Arthurs Creek Hall.

22.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #9 We commenced our Virtual Garden Walk with a glimpse of a fabulous garden that nestles into a hillside view with expansive views across orchards and the Kinglake Ranges. Let's take a closer look some of the great groupings of roses, perennials and more!

21.01.2022 Arthurs Creek Mechanics Institute Inc. Hall Committee mourns the passing of Mr Bruce Draper. Bruce served as a committee member for many years. During that time he represented our group at the Mechanics Institute of Victoria (MIV) and Yarra Plenty Heritage Group. Bruce was passionate in his commitment to identify, collate and publish historical information reflecting the heritage story of our district. He published this collection in various forms and was a regular contributor to content in the long running Arthurs Creek Community Newsletter. We celebrate the contribution Bruce made to the ongoing story of our treasured Arthurs Creek Community and pass on our sincere condolences to Bruce's family.

20.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #12 One of the joys of living - and in fact gardening - in the Arthurs Creek district is the fact that our gardens form within the backdrop of an ever changing landscape. Quite often, every moment spent in the garden can demand a choice of stopping to enjoy the environment around us or the task we are working on. You'll enjoy today's Garden Walk around a garden that maximises the broad vistas surrounding it whilst providing opportunities... for small colorful spaces and places of interest within it. It's not unusual for our landscape to simply become our garden. Breathe in and take in the views at the end of the rainbow.

18.01.2022 It's that time of year again! Save the date to join us at our 31st Annual Garden Walk on Sunday 10th November 2019.

17.01.2022 We’ve been notified by Nillumbik that this project has been cancelled for Arthurs Creek Hall due to current community health issue. See online site below for updates. At this stage it’s not known whether this is a postponement or cancellation. ... Do you work from home and need an inspiring work space for a couple of days? CO-LLAB will be set up in three locations around the Shire throughout March from 9am-5pm. It will be an opportunity to meet new businesses, collaborate locally and explore new ideas. For more details and to register go to nillumbik.vic.gov.au/COLLAB

17.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #11 Our Virtual Garden Walk is nearing completion. 'Natural Inspirations' emerges from within a fascinating family garden. Melissa Thomas is always one of our contributing artists at the Hall but her studio sits within a fabulous and intriguing garden setting created by her parents. The garden is quite shaded as it straddles a gully area where water, structures and objects stimulate the imagination. Enjoy the garden and Melissa's sculpture!

16.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #6 Well, 5 gardens visited, it must be time to sit, relax and reflect. No better place than at a garden that includes grape vines, olive trees and colorful plantings that all highlight a marvellous backdrop of stone construction. Enjoy this visit to Panton Hill Winery.

13.01.2022 Something very special to recognise.

10.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #13 I'm not sure if it's to do with '13' but after no phone or internet for some time, we are back on air and can begin to close off our Virtual Garden Walk. Two gardens today. Firstly, from a hillside garden 'Vuelalee', we have 13 photos of an interesting garden that uses its surroundings and outlook to advantage.... Take a quick break back to the Hall. We then move to our second garden and take in a variety of welcoming aspects of this loved and well tended garden that showcases a number of planting types. Enjoy..

10.01.2022 Our 2019 31st Annual Garden Walk was a great success. The sun shone and we had many visitors enjoying our 6 fabulous gardens and all the activities at the Hall. Thanks to our garden owners who worked so hard to present their 'little piece of paradise' in perfect condition. We really appreciated the work done by all of our helpers and stall holders who assisted in making the Hall a terrific place to spend time at. We are already working to compile a list of gardens available for next year's Walk! Of course our Hall continues to benefit from funds raised on the day. You may have noticed our latest acquisition, a beautiful new piano. Many thanks also go to our local sponsors who generously donate funds or prizes for our raffle,. Please give them your support.

09.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #7 Our Garden Walk has been running for 32 years and we've opened over 120 gardens in the district. We're very fortunate to have so many community members who enjoy sharing their gardens. 'Ravenswood' nestles into a wooded slope; a shady eucalypt environment on one side, and open and exposed to the north on the other. I hope you enjoy the bursts of color and great groupings of textures throughout the garden.

09.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #2 Whilst the sun is shining, it's a great time to wander around our second garden. 'Rosehill' is perched high on a hill celebrating a 360 degree outlook, and the range of weather that delivers! This wonderful garden showcases color and fragrance, native and exotic species and edible productivity. Oh, and of course roses! Enjoy today's stroll.

09.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #8 Our Hall grounds are usually filled with local artisans and plant growers during Garden Walk. So today we take a visit to 'The Iris Garden' and see the huge variety of 'Bearded Iris' that Graeme and Gail cultivate. They usually sell their Iris rhizomes at the Hall. Interestingly, ABC's Gardening Australia featured another passionate Tasmanian Iris grower last night. Enjoy..

08.01.2022 Our signage is spreading! Pass on the reminder that our fabulous Garden Walk is set for Sunday 10th November 2019! We’ll see you there!

08.01.2022 This should be an interesting ‘watch’ as we can only be observers this ANZAC Day.

07.01.2022 It’s wonderful to have the complete poem presented so beautifully.

07.01.2022 A great little project.

07.01.2022 Arthurs Creek Mechanics Institute Annual Garden Walk. 2020.... It certainly has been a different year so far! Given the current restrictions and guidelines, we have made the difficult decision to CANCEL our Annual Garden Walk scheduled for this November. We are currently not taking bookings for the Hall and felt it inappropriate to consider planning and running our 31st Garden Walk this year.... We do this with a heavy heart and thank all of our supporters of this terrific activity. Please, where and when appropriate, consider supporting our valued sponsors who have contributed to this activity in the past. Whilst we have not had events in the Hall throughout the Pandemic period, we are maintaining its upkeep and care. We have a number of ideas in the 'melting pot' that will be considered to "Open The Doors Again" when we are all able to settle back into the 'new normal'! In the meantime, spend time in your own little piece of paradise and enjoy the fruits of your labour. I have added some photos of past garden openings for your enjoyment. You can also look through the videos on this site to catch some more Garden Walk Memories. Keep safe, stay at home and be well. Celebrate with resilience and positivity.

06.01.2022 Let’s celebrate the rain but we are working towards a ‘best ever’ Garden Walk on a sunny Sunday. The signage says it all, however, as a treat we’ve added an extra garden so that makes 6 fabulous gardens for you to explore! We’ll be setting up our beautiful hall for tickets sales, arts and garden crafts, garden travel, Landcare displays scrumptious food and amazing conversations. We’ll see you soon!

06.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #4 Today's Virtual Walk brings us to 'Poplar Cottage', a garden that combines old with new. Nestled under old trees and beside the banks of Arthurs Creek, this garden is full of character and generates loads of color and fragrance based on an abundance of roses.

05.01.2022 Sunday November 10 is fast approaching. Take a look at some of the blooms you may discover as you wander the 6 fabulous gardens opening this year, our 31st opening. Arthurs Creek gardens are bursting into life this spring so you are assured of a wonderful day in our gardens as well as the usual arts, plants and food sales at the Hall.

02.01.2022 What a fascinating collection. Tough times.... always positives somewhere. Stay safe!

01.01.2022 ACMI Virtual Garden Walk continues at #5 Today we visit 'Tryst', a valley garden that started as a bare paddock and over 40 years has become a garden for all seasons. Wander under the shade of large deciduous trees and explore the different areas of natives and exotics. Once again many roses flourish. Enjoy...
