Here, Flinders was drawing upon a British tradition of constructing a stone cairn to mark a historical location. The Matthew Flinders Cairn, which was later enlarged, is located on the upper slopes of Arthurs Seat a short distance below Chapmans Point... not technically the top of the peak... but an easy walk from the Eagle Summit Station. @ebflett via Instagram

02.01.2022 Some may have seen the gondolas getting some fresh air lately Even though we are not open and soaring daily, the mechanical parts of the system still need to be looked after to our continued high standards. While we are shut to the public, we are undergoing routine scheduled maintenance tasks which will be ongoing. These works will include brake testing, grip force testing, load testing, emergency drive testing etc. many of which will involve putting gondolas on the line.... Some particular tasks are done more easily with each gondola that has been worked on, pushed out onto the line. This enables the maintenance team to easily and effectively access each gondola in the work area before sending it out. So what people are seeing is a growing number of cabins being started and stopped out on the line as each is worked on one by one ... When all the cabins are finally on the line, then the task will be completeand they all come back to rest! Well until the next test that they need to go through *There are no passengers permitted in the gondolas during these works if you see people in the gondolas, they are Eagle employees working as part of the maintenance team.
