21.01.2022 Are you looking for ideas on engaging your family or even adding some office fun in the leadup to Christmas? This week's Drawing Memories session with my lovely artists at SummitCare Wallsend shows how the combination of music and drawing has a double-whammy effect on the senses because of its power to retrieve memories, stimulate the brain, touch the emotions and soothe the soul. The cicadas even joined in! I’d love to share this FREE multi-sensory activity to help spread ...some cheer this Christmas. It’s fantastic for children and all adults - a great family activity to do together! I’ve included full instructions, a Spotify playlist link and templates to create personalised artistic decorations. To receive the PDF, simply add your email address below, DM me or email [email protected] PS. I’d love you to share some pics of the final artwork! Just use the hashtags #artintuit #drawingmemories #seeingsoundsofchristmas and tag me in it! #christmasgift #wellbeing #artsandhealth #outsideincollective #eldercare #agedcareaustralia #relaxation #musictherapy #arttherapy #christmasdecorations #dementiacare #familytime

10.01.2022 Would you like to be reminded every day of what you can't do, or would you rather be valued for what you can still achieve? While it's important to be mindful of the diverse disabilities of people in aged care, the Artintuit programs focus on inclusiveness and building self-esteem by honouring individual capabilities. #artsanddementia #claymaking #drawingmemories... 10.01.2022 ARTIST OF THE WEEK at SummitCare Wallsend There were crumbs everywhere and the cake sat in a puddle of bright yellow paint. I thought her obsession with pulling apart her morning tea was simply a symptom of dementia. Maybe so, but Marie's cupcake also sparked her creativity.... Her slow and deliberate mark making and colour choices represented the 'hundreds and thousands' (sprinkles) adorning the icing. The beauty in her self expression is worthy of framing don't you think? More importantly, Marie developed new neural pathways doing this activity which can only be a good thing for her brain health and general wellbeing. From an artist's perspective, there's structure, balance and texture in her composition that is no accident: the four pieces of crumbling cake were gently and strategically placed on all four corners to complete the artwork. 08.01.2022 Did you know that puzzle solving involves visuo-spatial processing, visual search skills and memory processes to be able to recall how each piece relates to the whole? Great brain stimuli when combined with drawing! Well we thought seeing how 2020 was a big puzzle that we’d put all the pieces together for a bright and cheery 2021. Each piece was individually created after reflecting on what a brand new year meant to each other. No one was aware of what the final work was g...oing to be until assembled. WOW Happy New Year from the elders at SummitCare Wallsend #agedcare #drawingmemories #outsideincollective #brainhealth #2021vibes #dementiacare #creativeexpression #summitcare
