24.01.2022 She wouldn't get out of the car. I started bugging her, telling her we'll have so much fun.... but look at that over there!!... we'll get shells!... etc.. Everytime she shook her head and everytime I tried my best like a sales woman to sell a walk on the beach. It'll be a.ma.zing I said rolling my eyes back into my head. She started to giggle and a knowing between us was strengthened. She eventually got out of the car and we had the best time. She loves to throw shells and handfuls of sand back into the water One of the shells looked like an ear and we put it to our heads. I have started to talk constantly around her about the things I am doing. I use a musical tone and stay away from 'baby' talk. She is going to the toilet now!! No more wetting the bed either!

17.01.2022 Start with the child. #adaptive #education

16.01.2022 I read today about a parent hating autism. I am super sad right now. Having a cry. I can't write much but here goes. To the autistic parent who says they HATE autism. Try love. ... Just try it. For a week. See what happens. It'll take discipline but do try it because you sound over tired and like you're having a tantrum. Best thing to do. Love and sleep. Once you change your mindset things will get easier. It is possible to change and grow - these two things are constant in life. GROW, CHANGE. Learn to play. Play games, make your child laugh, it will help disperse the stress. Speak gently. Be silly. Do not physically restrain unless there's danger. They are a child not an evil mastermind set to ruin your life. Also, consider that you might be autistic too. Burn out feels like your core disappears and besides, autism is genetic. For me, burn out happens nearly every day. For no good reason other than I'm living and creative. Have a lie down for an hour every day, just getting horizontal takes the stress off your heart for a bit. Autism comes with huge love and crumbles the walls you have built around your heart. Sometimes my heart aches with love and I want everyone to feel it and know how amazing and what a privilege it is to have a child like I do. Did you ever imagine that you would be challenged to open your mind like this? To love and hold someone up is your privilege and as a parent it is your duty. To be the servant of another is humbling let it chip away your fragile ego. The child is not the problem - please just try love.

15.01.2022 autism is connection. it is connection in a disconnected world...a world where most folks go through the motions and say the expected and do the usual. there's ...nothing inherently wrong with the expected and the usual. there's comfort there. if that's your thing, you're in luck...you're in sync even, with a world made for exactly that kind of being. but that's not autism. autism is not the comfort of doing what others do, saying what they say. it's connection. connection with people so intense it can hurt. connection with people so intense it can heal. connection with joy and focus and thought. connection with senses so vibrant they can overwhelm or inspire creativity. autism bridges all of these things...it bridges self and world and others. it is a way of being that can feel profoundly lonely in a world that privileges disconnect and going through motions and hiding behind social masks. autism doesn't hide. it can't. it is, at the very core of its being, connection.
