23.01.2022 ART SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOCAL KIDS! Please share with mini-artists on both sides of the border 'Hoodies. This is a fantastic opportunity! Artlis Studios understand...s that many families are feeling the pressure in the current social climate as well being affected by border restrictions and reduced incomes. Like many local businesses, they are also feeling the pressure resulting from the pandemic. But rather than focus on the negative, they want to reach out to the community and students who need art in their lives but can’t afford it Owner and Director, Alissa Crafter knows how important art is to our mental health and every day sees children's lives transformed by being part of an art class. But she also knows that art can be one of the last things in the budget. Artlis Studios is offering THREE scholarships this term for students. There are two scholarships for students to attend at the studio in Currumbin AND an online scholarship for students who are unable to attend due to lockdowns, border restrictions or mental health conditions. The online scholarship ALSO includes two one-on-one online sessions with our Creative Arts Therapist. Applications are due by October 13, 2021. 21.01.2022 Our new weekly Expressive Art Class is now taking bookings! Learn the heart behind art, play with colours, shapes and lines to create abstract pieces that express how we are feeling inside. Learn to enjoy the process, and not get hung up about the end result. This class is perfect for students who want to break away from perfection, and have less expectations on themselves as an artist. We will develop skills to use art as a calming tool, and to recognise growth even when o...ur art doesn’t quite look right! Artworks will be a mix of watercolour, acrylic and sculptural pieces. We will look at: A range of expressive artists including Kandinsky, Pollock, and Joan Mitchell A range of watercolour, acrylic, drawing, and sculpture techniques Styles including automatic and gestural artworks, abstract art and fauvism How art can make you feel. Colours, lines and shapes that express emotions. Giving colour and shape to abstract concepts. Using Art as a calming tool. Sessions will be weekly from 5-6pm, for kids aged 6-13yrs. 01.01.2022 As you all may know we have had some therapeutic art sessions available to give away and the most exciting thing that has come out of it are the mums who are using them! Whilst we have been primarily focussed on kids in families for some time, we have long been aware that the mums, dads and carers are the ones who hold on to the stress of caring for high needs kids - and it's so beautiful and refreshing that the sessions we have been able to give away are now being used by t...hese amazing adult humans who rarely take time for themselves. You don't need to be a kid to take advantage of the stress relieving properties of art! We still have a couple of sessions available thanks to funding by Making Waves Colllective Inc, and the Gold Coast City Council! Let us know if you want to know more!
