21.01.2022 MusicACT has released a hilarious but urgent video series highlighting the ACT Government's inaction on the 2019 Entertainment Action Plan. With COVID-19 dealing another blow to an already struggling live music industry in Canberra, real action needs to be taken on sound regulation and planning reform to protect venues and hubs. Watch and share to send a strong message to the government that something needs to be done.

16.01.2022 I Hold the Great Rack (IHTGR) is a musical performance art duo that uses popular forms of media and stylistic tropes as devices to shift the way experimental art is consumed. After showcasing their unique take on electro-art-pop with a performance on The Soul Defender at this year's festival, Art, Not Apart is proud to present their Instagram-exclusive volume of work titled "The World Died Today While You Were On Your Phone". 15.01.2022 A great celebration of creativity happened on Saturday from 1-7pm. Thank you to the hundreds of talented artists who shared their views on today’s changing world. A confirmed COVID-19 case attended Art, Not Apart on Saturday between 4-5pm. They did not attend the Albert Hall series. ACT Health has classified the risk of being exposed as ‘very low’ however we are acting cautiously. Festival staff and attendees have been advised not to isolate. All close contacts of the individ...ual have been contacted by ACT Health. However, if anyone who was at the festival on Saturday 14 March between 4-5pm develops symptoms of COVID-19, they should call Communicable Disease Control on 02 5124 9213. The festival has been advised that the risk for people who have not been contacted is ‘really really low’ and the government continues to reiterate this. You can read more from the ACT Health website here: https://health.act.gov.au//updated-information-about-covid The festival theme was about union in times of separation and anxiety. None of us knew how relevant this would be. Explore the works at www.artnotapart.com.

05.01.2022 Art, Not Apart 2020 artist Carla Zimbler is teaming up with Sydney outfit Alaska Orchestra for a one-of-a-kind visual and sonic experience performed live at the Sydney Opera House and streamed around the world this weekend. Led by Megan Alice Clune, along with Heather Shannon and Mara Schwerdtfeger, Alaska Orchestra (neither an orchestra, nor from Alaska) return for their digital stage debut with a live streamed re-imagining of Brian Eno's 1978 landmark album, "Ambient 1: Mus...ic for Airports" accompanied by Zimbler’s visuals which bring a new dimension to the ethereal nature of the sonic bath the work embodies. Many opportunities for artists to create, collaborate and present their works have been lost, delayed or cancelled due to COVID-19. Excited to perform, Carla describes the visual elements as a study on the relationship between colour and sound; both therapeutic and meditative - and there’s another Canberra connection here too. James Turrell’s major sky-space ’Within, Without’ situated at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra informs a large part of Zimbler’s approach to this work, manipulating chromo-saturation and dancing with gradients to AO’s gripping, sonic experience. Those fortunate enough to experience Zimbler’s projection mapped visuals at Albert Hall during Art, Not Apart 2020 will know that this is not to be missed. Live-stream at 8pm AEST, Saturday 20th June. www.sydneyoperahouse.com//ambient-1-music-for-airports-bri (Written by festival film and moving image curator Sam Dignand.)
