10.01.2022 It’s world mental health day. . This is an important topic to address every year but most especially this year since so many people have been so effected by trauma. . You never know who is suffering deep down and unfortunately the arts community carries some of the highest rates of depression, bipolar and other mental health issues. ... . Thinking about our mental health can be scary. But caring for your mind and emotions is both liberating and absolutely necessary. We all will experience one or maybe a few of these in our lives at some point so I have no reservations about sharing a few of my experiences, which I needed support for which are -PTSD -C-PTSD -Grief -Depression -Agoraphobia -Extreme Isolation -And also fogginess and anxiety (due to a very annoying disease that allows inflammation into my brain where it wouldn’t normally happen and sometimes it can feel like I’m living in a cloud and I can’t see my way out). I am eternally grateful to the friends and mental health professionals who assisted in surprising ways during some difficult times. I stand on their shoulders as I reach out toward life. They helped me put everything in perspective, and allowed me to once again grab a hold of life and live it to the full. For many, reaching out has become harder than ever. And I want to say to those who feel so alone right now that the feeling will pass. Don’t believe everything your mind tells you. And you can get through this. . I also want to share with you an excerpt of one of my favorite poems and have read this over many times for courage: Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. . Never give up. Connect! We are all in this life together. You matter. You can make a difference. You are loved. You will be loved again. Change is always coming and it’s worth fighting for. Keep your eye on the dawn of a new day. And if today was not the day you hoped, rise again tomorrow and try again. Sending love to you all. X See more
