17.01.2022 Today was the official launch of a big game campaign we developed for Volkswagon Australia promoting the Golf GTI. We developed a WebGL 3D racing game where the player gets to drive the new 2021 Golf GTI around 3 different practice tracks, and then compete in timed races by scanning a QR code in TV commercials, with one lucky winner receiving a brand new Golf GTI to drive away! We've had a lot of fun not only designing and developing the game over the past few months, but als...o developing tools like file viewers and track editors, working with the talented 3D artists at Lumberfly, and working with the team at Snapfrozen to develop the backend and host the entire campaign in a serverless environment on Google's cloud platform. Here's a sneak peek at the campaign and the game...

17.01.2022 Take control of Ronnie and Bobby from Nickelodeon's Casagrandes as you try to keep customers happy and the Super Mercado stocked up and ready for the next store wide sales stampede! Ronnie takes care of customer service, while Bobby cleans and restocks, and chases away the occasional dog who walks in, knocking down displays and leaving muddy footprints to clean up! The action is broken up by the occasional Super Sale, but that leaves the store decimated and you'll have to act... fast to clean and restock before the next day's customers arrive! Can you effectively use both characters at once, and earn a coveted spot on the employee of the month wall? Elements such hand drawn frame by frame animation closely matching the show, a dynamic camera system, optimal pathfinding for the character controls, and real-time AI decision making help to make the game world feel alive despite this being a 12 week project from concept to deployment!



17.01.2022 Sometimes it's fun to peek behind the curtain at how games are designed and developed. This map outline document for Invader Zim : The Doom Game shows how the 15 in-game locations interconnect. Designed and developed from the ground up for Nickelodeon to help promote the popular (now retro) show's release on the Nick Play app, the game ended up being one of the virtal spaces we had created to date, and required custom loading and optimisation techniques in order to get the g...ame to load and run across all platforms, from the lowest end 10 year old iPhone to the latest HD tablets. With a hand drawn art style to match the show, smooth animations, references and in-jokes galore, the game evolved beyond the initial brief and pushed the envelope of cross browser online games. Take control of both Zim and Gir in an adventure set over a huge map encompassing Zim's iconic house, lair and Skool. Players can alternate between Zim and Gir, utilising their different abilities to safely navigate the obstacles and enemies, find thier FILTHY human disguises, infiltrate Skool and complete all the missions. In addition to the core missions, players can take to the sky in Zim's Voot cruiser in a bonus mini game, unlocked by finding the missing keys. The Doom Game quickly become one of Nick's most played games at launch ushering in new requests for longer quest based mechanics with greater depth.

13.01.2022 Hooweee it has been a long time since we've posted anything here... But we've been hard at work getting our cred with Nintendo to begin publishing games for the Switch! Here's a taste of our first independent release (set for the end of this year).

04.01.2022 Even when you develop a game from the ground up, spend countless hours lovingly crafting it, building out levels and testing, sometimes you still always hit those dastardly barrels! Bumper Bros was a game we designed and developed in a super tight window of just 12 weeks from concept to launch to support the release of the latest iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon. Rise of the TMNT has an all new anime-inspired art style, which we lovingly recreated in ...the game. The game features a sling-shot/pinball mechanic allowing players to launch themselves through 5 different worlds over 25 levels, with detailed hand-drawn animation of the bros and the enemy origami ninjas, lovingly recreated to match the show. Yet even after all that work, we still hit the barrels sometimes ;) TMNT Bumper Bros is available via Nick.com, on all regional Nickelodeon sites, and coming soon to the Sky Kids app!
