22.01.2022 Good to have Shannon O’Connell and Jamie Weetch in the gym this evening doing some final touches with Luke Meldon before Wednesday’s big fights. The guys will be in the gym again tomorrow plus Banging Benny Kite, who fights for the Australian Welterweight Title in a few weeks, doing some rounds with Kaos Kolby Johnston.

Weighed in 57-60 at the SABL Qld Titles but had to step up to fight in the 60-63.5 division where he edged out 2 victories against quality more experienced opponents. 20.01.2022 We don’t run fitness classes, we run a boxing gym. There is a difference. But that doesn’t mean only certain people are welcome. It just means everybody who attends, no matter if they intend to compete or not, trains alongside the boxers and as if they were a boxer getting ready for competition. If you’re going to train, may as well train properly.

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Hawks Boxing Townsville for a great event yesterday afternoon. So good to have the fights back after a messed up year. Awesome to see plenty of fighters and clubs travelling from all over and good signs to hopefully have a strong end of the year with upcoming events scheduled. Great for our NQ boxers to still have the opportunity to gain some experience this year. AOS had our Pinoy boxing contingent on show, weighing in 3 and matching 2 for fights. Both having their first fights they were in tough matches and didn’t have it all their own way, but dug deep and both got the W. Pagbati kuyas!

14.01.2022 What a great few days it’s been for boxing in the city. Awesome to see so much interest around for our great sport. We were lucky enough to have some of the undercard fighters plus ex champions at the gym, but now training is back to normal and focus in on our guys with a few amateur shows to finish the year. Mareeba tournament just over 2 weeks away.

13.01.2022 Good story about young Rocky Savage, Grandson of Robert Savage, who has been training at the gym under Gonzo.

13.01.2022 Barry Michael V Lester Ellis is still widely considered the greatest fight between two Australians for a world title. Today at the gym we had Gonzo, who sparred with Barry Michael several times, and now proudly sporting one of his shirts. Also, Brad Mayo, who sparred hundreds of rounds with Lester Ellis. Not many other gyms can say that. Very cool to have them both at our gym regularly.

11.01.2022 Another show done! Seeing the great fights lastnight, giving guys and girls the opportunity to fight and the crowd so pumped and supportive makes all the hard work and headaches worth it. Thankyou so much to all the people who helped in any way. These little jobs are necessary and without these a show can’t go ahead. To all the clubs that attended, Thankyou! especially great to have Fortitude Boxing Brisbane, Des Upton from Rockhampton and all other travelling clubs make the trip. Always appreciate the support. Super proud of our 3 fighters who got matched and fought great, all picking up wins in tough fights.

11.01.2022 Just want to say well done to Thomas competing over the weekend at the Knuckleman tournament. After a year hiatus he took on two very respected fighters and gained valuable experience. The main event I thought could have went either way, but wasn’t disappointed in a great close contest which entertained the crowd. More improvements to be made and these opportunities are putting us on the right track. Big year ahead for us as a club. Thanks those involved in giving us the chance.
