24.01.2022 Some of you may have read recently in the News Mail that a number of local retail businesses have closed their doors over the past few months and all seems doom... and gloom, so firstly we want to say THANK YOU TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS who have been supporting us over the last six years and keeping us afloat. Thats not to say that were not doing it tough, and at times struggle through from week to week so hopefully youll continue to support us over the coming years even in these days of Internet Shopping, Large Retail Chains and Trips to Brisbane....so just a couple of observations on those topics: Internet Shopping: We all do it, and sometimes there is no other choice and we tell our customers its the best thing to do...BUT, weve all been caught out with products either NOT arriving, NOT being what we wanted or NOT performing as we expected (its far more difficult to return a faulty product to an on-line retailer). Conservative estimates say 1 in 10 online purchases fall into one of the above categories - so thats 10% of your money youve lost. Online shopping isnt always cheaper by the time youve factored in postage or accidentally bought things in US $ rather that Australian dollars or added things to your order that you didnt really want just to get free postage - and theres always the HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COME? Large Retail Chains: Sometimes there is an instinctive reaction that a large Retail Chain will be cheaper because they buy in bulk, BUT thats not always the case. I was doing a price check this morning on something and came across on the OFFICEWORKS WEBSITE a set of "120 Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils" retailing for $428 !!! At Art Plus they would be $375....... Its not a product we would generally keep in stock so we would have to order them but Im pretty sure OfficeWorks in Bundy would have to order them as well. We do regular price checks with the major chains to keep our prices as competitive as possible and sometimes we are surprisingly cheaper. Trips to Brisbane: We obviously cant stock all the products in the world, but we all use the same Wholesalers as the shops in Brisbane so we have access to pretty much the same products as they do, so we can normally get them for you. So it might be worthwhile to come in and ASK US what we can get for you. And as weve previously mentioned were generally price competitive. And if youre buying IN BULK were always open to negotiation so we offer you the best deals. Wouldnt you rather spend your time in Brisbane going to Art Gallerys and eating in Fancy Restaurants rather than traipsing around art shops looking for that elusive bargain and then having to cart it back to Bundaberg. In summary, yes "Its tough times for Bundy businesses" - but if you USE them and SUPPORT LOCAL things wouldnt be so tough and besides if you come to Art Plus youll always get to see our happy smiling faces :) and Marliess expertise and dont forget PICTURE FRAMING - but well leave that for another day MAKE ART PLUS YOURE FIRST STOP PLEASE PASS THIS ON
