24.01.2022 I would ask you all to think about donating to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Appeal. My dad was involved in the 2009 Toodyay Bushfires. Very fortunately, his house and shed were saved. The people across the road lost everything The people three doors up the road lost everything.... Their neighbours lost everything The Wooroloo fires have done the same to the residents of the affected areas. If you can spare a little money, please give it to the Appeal Because every cent helps towards rebuilding their properties, houses and lives. I know people that it made a difference to. It certainly helped out us All information about how to donate are listed on the City of Perth website https://www.perth.wa.gov.au/lord-mayors-distress-relief-fund Please dig in and help

24.01.2022 @lindymidalia.artist dropped in some work to be framed and also made mention that the Pastel Society of WA has a pop-up shop at Hillarys Boat Harbour. It opened today and will run until December 14, open daily 10:00am 5:00pm Just like, Lindy there are a lot of great Artists trying to make their way in the Artworld, so tell your friends and everyone you know to scoot out to all the Galleries and follow the brilliant work of these very talented people. The Pop-up Shop for the... P.S.W.A. is at Shop 62, Sorrento Quay. Get in the car, drive down to the beach, have a stroll, go to Hillarys, have a look around, get a drink, have a feed, go and look at what the Members of The Pastel Society of WA have been up to. Sounds like a plan Make sure you check out Lindy’s Geisha. It’s a beauty. I must make mention of the extremely Moorish treats Lindy dropped in. Roasted almond brittle with a chocolate topping. Yummo Thank you Lindy See more

24.01.2022 There is always much fun to be had when a road trip is on the cards for the crew at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery. Kate Hamersley and Lee Kinsella came in to collect some works for the upcoming Paper Cut show at Larry’s. Please note how responsible they were whilst inside. Good social distancing . Masks well done ladies. The impact of the closure last week means that yesterday was installation day for the work that was supposed to be installed last week... Domino affect The Installation gets postponed The openings get postponed The talks get postponed. Larry’s have a great schedule of works planned for the year. All info is available on their website or you can follow them on Instagram The next shows earmarked for the public are Olga Cironis: Dislocation, Creatures: Ochred, Pokered, Carved & Twined and Paper Cut Great Gallery and people at Larry’s Free entry and well worth a visit @olga_cironis @kinsella.lee @lwagallery

24.01.2022 I was looking at Instagram one night and saw the watercolours that Jane Zandi had done of a Ballerina on old manuscript. I liked the connection of the movement of dance with the movement of the music. I liked the watercolours too. A few days later, the owner of the watercolours dropped them in to @artpresentations to be framed. Very cool. I really liked that job because Id seen the works and then got to do them in a complimentary framing style that suited where they were goi...ng to be housed. A Dancing School. A few days ago @jane_zandi popped in with some work to be framed for an upcoming show. She liked what I said about her ballerinas and thought shed give us a go. I asked Jane about her Art and heres what I learnt. Jane tries to tell her story in as few brushstrokes and possible. Particularly aiming to get the light right. Born in Tasmania and now living in Perth, Jane has been painting for over 12 years and in the last 4 years regularly en plein air. This has resulted in a passion for getting the light just right while on site and then taking that lightness into the studio paintings. She is a member of the Perth Plein Air Painters and gets out to paint on site most weeks as often as possible. She regularly attends a social life drawing group to keep her drawing skills up. Whilst not having formal qualifications, regular attendance at workshops with local, interstate and international watercolourists have helped her develop her own personal style of painting. She has exhibited at Artspace, and 4 x shows at the WA Society of Arts Exhibition, WA Watercolour Society Awards exhibition and International Watercolour Exhibition in Fremantle in 2020 She is a committee member for the WA Watercolour Society. Her role is to maintain the Societys Instagram account. She has a great passion for what she does. I dig that. Get on board and check out her works. See more

24.01.2022 Thank you City if Joondalup for the new drinking fountain. The many dogs and sporting groups will love it

24.01.2022 Weekend off. Up to Toodyay. Early drive into town to bakery for customary loaf of sourdough. Locked in till mid arvo while Targa Toodyay is on. Personally I think the dog and I have the best seats in the house. We are closer to the action than the roper off spectators

24.01.2022 We use and have always used Rag Mat or Conservation Mat Board @artpresentations. This is a copy of a text message sent to me the other day by a rep from one of the moulding suppliers I buy from. His Father was an Artist and used to swap Artworks and Sculptures with other Artists. George did a deal with Louis Kahan and swapped one of his works for an etching Mother feeding Baby.... Peter This is the Artwork that I tell every other framer about. A Lois Kahan etching framed by Art Presentations in the late 80s with I assume Rag Mat. Mat board core is still a crisp white and the artwork is in great condition. Fell off the wall today, not your fault. Though the dinky little frame it was in will be replaced, though I will keep the mat board! For a few extra dollars at the Framers, everyone can use a good quality Matboard that meets the PAT Test for Worldwide Standards in Conservation Framing and is 100% acid free and has no solvents, pollutants in it. It is Cotton Pulp, not paper pulp. We believe that if the Artist is going to charge good money for their product, ensure the Framing products are the best you can use. It will ensure longevity of the Artwork

24.01.2022 We stretched a large Christine Hingston canvas today for a customer who bought it from Christine. I havent seen @christinehingston or any of her work for years and then this big canvas. I do mean big 138 x 245cms Dave from @hangartperth was given the task of hanging it above a set of double doors. The painting, One World was very much loved by the customer and extremely eager to get it up.... I was informed that Christine now lived in Ubud, Bali Probably explains why I havent seen her. 23.01.2022 Jim Howe is an interesting guy with an interesting connection to West Australian Art and Artists. Jim has a Diploma of Teaching - Secondary School Art, which he put into practice in 1979. Also in that year, he had an Exhibition at Gallery 52 with Paintings and Etchings. In 1984 he owned Textile Printing & Design Company which specialised in large format continuous screen printing on fabric. Jim also did some Print making with various Artists... Also in the mix, he was a Board member of the Mark Howlett Foundation 1997-2007. During his tenure on the Board, the Artists who received the Commission were Mary Dudin, Eveline Kotai, Theo Koning, Galliano Fardin, Penny Bovell and Trevor Vickers. He was in a Combined Exhibition Drawing 2018: 20 Works on Paper @artcollectivewa One of his best mates from Art School was Rob Gear. Jim says @robertgear1 was outstanding as a Painter even back then and inspired him to do better things. Hes been best mates with Jeremy Kirwan Ward for many years and was still running his screen printing business when he printed JKWs Mark Howlett Foundation Commission. Hes good friends with Eveline Kotai and Giles Hohnen and worked with Giles on a few projects. He also had his first Exhibition with Penny Bovell, when they were finishing Art School. Also good friends with Leon and Moira Pericles Leon was his mentor at Art School. Jim, JKW and Simon Cowling still catch up regularly for over lunch and a beer and Talk Shit On the prompting from JKW, Jim entered a drawing into a competition and was notified he was a finalist in the Grafton Regional Gallerys 2020 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) Good on you Jim. 659 entries whittled down to 56 works chosen. Great drawing . Ive seen it and are framing it Lets keep our fingers crossed @robertgear1 @jeremykirwanward @cowling.simon @evelinekotai @gileshohnen @penny.bovell @leonpericles

22.01.2022 Today is Are You Okay Day. I hope we all asked someone. R U Okay???

21.01.2022 Took the dog for a walk this afternoon and I saw two boys playing on a 2021 billy cart. It was made by them, and their Dad helped of course. Much better than what we had many moons ago. They would go to the top of the park and follow the cycle path down hill, all the way through the park. They got some speed up too just quietly.... The dog thought it was great. The kids thought the dog running with them was great. They did the course about 5 times and then dragged it back to the start. The best bit was they exercised the dog for me while I watched them having so much fun in the shade of a big tree. They dog is now wrecked..... See more

21.01.2022 The Reverend Doctor Benjamin Joel and his lovely wife Katrina Virgona came if to get some work framed. Benjo, Katrina and I had our usual chat which generally is mirth based. The Doc has officially hung up his paintbrush as a lecturer and is enjoying his time in the studio. Coming up he has a workshop @midlandjunctionartscentre which starts Sunday 29 November and runs over three Sundays Perspective and Beyond A Workshop with Ben Joel... This is the statement from @benjaminsimonjoel This approach to freehand perspective will help you understand why things you see look the way they do, and help you confidently draw convincing, naturalistic forms and spaces in perspective, either from observed phenomena or imagination. Katrina has a Felting Workshop coming up on December 5 at the Midland Junction Arts Centre. @katrinavirgona makes and wears the most amazing jewellery. Follow her on Instagram or look at her website www.katrinavirgona She looked quite lovely the day she came in with Benjo and he balked when I told her so. Awkward. Little known fact In the early 70’s, Ben was at Art School with Robbie Malcom of Yallingup Galleries. The Vietnam War has happening at the time. BJ and Robbie headed off to an Anti-Vietnam War march in the city. Robbie had a camera and was filming it and the march ventured towards the Mall. There was a girl with them and Benjo and this girl were rolling around and acting while Rob Made this epic feature film. BJ was saying that the march ended with a massive sit-in in the Hay Street Mall and it was a sea of people. Apparently, that footage may still exist. It would be quite cool to see it. The funny thing was there was a guy from Ben’s school who had been to Vietnam and saw him as saw him as a hippy and a protester and went coco bananas at Ben and Rob. Mainly Ben though Get along to the Midland Junction Art Centre and get involved with Ben and Katrina and their workshops. It would be fantastic because they are very affable people who are dynamite at their craft. I’m really looking forward to getting up to their studios to see what they’ve been up to. As is the dog. What football team do you support Benjo?? #calypso_print_studio

21.01.2022 The exceptionally well dressed Julienne Penny from @tgcottesloe came in to collect the set of beautiful Tjungu Palya Prints (2009). @artpresentations had mounted them and wrapped them so they can be viewed and kept flat and clean. They are really something to be seen as was Julienne on this day. She’d been working and just looked very glam. We have a lot of fun with Julienne. Always mirth.... The Tjungu Palya Prints are up for viewing and sale at Tunbridge Gallery, Napoleon St Cottesloe. As well as these wonderful prints, there are Canvases, textiles, objects and woven items. Well worth a visit to the Gallery The prints can be seen on the Tunbridge Gallery website at www.tunbridgegallery.com.au and also Instagram. #tunbridgegallery See more

21.01.2022 This Friday night 6:30 8:30pm is Graham Stoves opening at EARLYWORK 330 South Terrace, South Fremantle The show will run until 6 September An interesting insight which Ive only just learned is that in 2000 Graham reconnected with his birth mother and family.... This coincided with the circle motif in his work. The connection with his blood relatives gave him the feeling of coming full circle, the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. The circle for Stove represents a completion and a fully formed unit, being both elemental and archetypal. It equates with the feminine and instinctive as opposed to the masculine and logic. He says circles for him are in the structure of things, the shape of things, they are in the growth patterns of things and the journeys we take. Graham is a really lovely guy and if you look at his bio, he has played with all the kids in the WA Art scene playground. I was blown away when he was reeling off the people hes studied, worked with and taught. Always a pleasure to have Graham come in. Always a giggle or two and a great chat. Put a circle on Friday night in your diary and get down to support him and say hello to him or catch up and talk about the days gone by. @grahamstoveart @ Art Presentations

21.01.2022 Opening day of the show queue. Every gate has a queue like this

20.01.2022 Penny Bovell visited us with her canvases for the upcoming show at Mossenson Galleries. @mossensongalleries and Mossenson Art Foundation will present the Exhibition SIX : 2020. The Exhibition will run from November 18 December 5 at 115 Hay St Subiaco. I’ve known @pennybovell for ever and she has been an Artist , Lecturer, Author and Administrator in the Western Australian Art scene for a long time and really earnt her stripes. In the mid 1970’s, she did a Diploma of Teachin...g at WACAE (now ECU), then off to London to do a Diploma of Fine Art 1979-1982. 1992-93 Post Graduate Diploma Visual Art at Curtin Uni, then UWA to obtain a MFA 1997-99. For 20 years, she has been teaching visual art at University (to 2008) working closely with many, many students over the years and watching their careers develop. More recently, Pen had a few years as Chair of Artsource and now happily working in her studio and Co-director of CP20, a shared studio/project space in Hamilton Hill. @How_Productive, @Sunley Smith and Jesse Lee She has had a long term commitment to the Arts through Board participation of not for profit Arts organisations (over 30 years) - including being a founding member of Artemis, Mark Howlett Foundation and the Art Collective WA. I really got to know Penny when she was awarded the #7 Commission of the Mark Howlett Foundation. When the commission was awarded to the Artist, we always seemed to see them on a weekly basis and Pen was also a Board Member of the MHF therefore she was in and out all the time. Lovely lady, great at her craft, loves being a grandmother and as we speak is having a little down time in the southwest. 20.01.2022 @_sambloor came in and was signing and sorting the editions of works from his last show @kolbuszspace These are the printed mirrors with statements written on them. It was a very cool concept in a number of ways. There was ‘the word’, which evoked a conversation and all the mirrors were printed a different colour. When light hits the mirror, it reflected the word onto another surface.... It was quite cool to see it happen. We did it a bit just to see that. Anyhow, the three limited edition sets are all sold. Sam pushes through barriers and doesn’t get trapped in a style. In the time we’ve been dealing with him, all the works are so different. We’re currently doing some completely different works which he will let you know they are up and about the market place. Be quick if you’re interested they’ll disappear pretty bloody quick. See more

19.01.2022 I had much mirth watching this.

19.01.2022 Toodyay sunset, me and my mate

18.01.2022 We often get a run of things to frame @artpresentations This is one such run Two days ago, a customer collected the Robert Fielding print he purchased and was excited to get it back to his office to hang on his wall. Yesterday, two more of the same prints came in to be framed. 25/30, 27/30 and 28/30. In an edition of 30 prints, both parties were very excited to get the print considering the day the edition was released it sold out.... Robert Fieldings work is available through Mimili Maku Arts which is situated in the Northern Territory This is press in regards to the release of the print from MMA In response to the big shifts we are seeing all around the world, Robert has created a limited edition of 30 prints to remind us that we are all in this together In Anangu culture the word Milkali (blood) is a very sensitive word and can be used offensively, but in this print Milkali kutju means one blood. This work is about what is underneath the skin, it is about reconciliation. Indigenous and non-Indigenous people working alongside one another, learning and sharing their different cultures, ngapartji-ngapartji, 50-50. It doesn't matter what colour our skin, its about what is below the surface. During this time of change, I want to send a message of unity out there. We need to listen to each other, forgive and move forward together. Robert Fielding, Milkali Kutju, 2020 Fine art print on textured cotton rag paper Original work in a limited edition of 30, signed by the artist Its amazing the response to the work and on a close inspection, the imagery behind the text is fantastic. The text behind the Artwork is inspirational. @mimili_maku_arts @fielding222 @ Art Presentations

18.01.2022 A long-time customer who has purchased Art from West Australian Artists over the years got in touch with me. Gillian Gallagher is organising an Exhibition for this weekend. 17.01.2022 Make sure you shoot down to Kidogo Gallery at Bathers Beach in Fremantle to see the Cascades Exhibition by Sue Cross. The show opens Thursday night, 19th November, from 6:00 8:00pm and is open daily from 11:00am 4:00pm until November 24. Sue has received awards for her watercolours and is a terrific lady. It’s worth going down to Kidogo, have a look, buy a painting and then choof off into Freo for a feed. @suecross16 has put a lot of love into these works and would like e...veryone to appreciate the hard work and love. Get on down to Freo and make a day of it. #kidogoarthousegallery See more

17.01.2022 Alix Korte dropped in a couple of oils to be framed and was rather happy. Last year she was voted Peoples Choice at the Hale Art Exhibition and sold the paintings she put up for sale. This year, even though it is online only, she has sold again therefore the smile. The complete Hale Art Exo catalogue can be viewed at www.fineartathale.org Alix works hard at her craft and people really love her paintings.... Beachscapes and landscapes are very popular. @alixkorteart informed me she is trying to vary her style and she is pleased with the transformation into impressionism. The works we are to frame are quite beautiful and if that is the transition, she is achieving it. One is a rural landscape with a cattle dog eagerly watching some cattle. I could have sold it five times since it arrived with us. Once to a Farmer who said it was the spitting image of his dog and his cattle on his farm. Alixs work can be seen www.alixkorte.com, @yallingupgalleries, @galleryaura and The Finishing Touch Gallery. She is also involved with Joanne Duffy and Mia Laing with Gallery JAM Alix is madly enjoying what she does and thats great. Cant you tell by the grin!! @joanneduffyartist @mialaing_artist @gallery.j.a.m @fineart_at_hale

16.01.2022 When Art meets Sport Today we had the pleasure to have the Coach of the Australian Cricket Team, Justin Langer come into @artpresentations to get the painting framed that was commissioned for his 50th Birthday. And he practised good protocols as we all have to do with masks. You just can’t see how excited he actually is. Reif Myers was given the job to do a painting for the Coach and the brief was to include some of his favourite things. Also, the imagery to be included is on...e of his favourite places. Fremantle. @reifaxl nailed the brief. When Justin dropped it off, we chatted about Cricket and also the painting and that he was stoked to get it as a present. Today when he collected the painting, both he and his wife were very excited about the job we did but also very excited about what they had and how much Freo and its iconic landmarks mean to them. JL has a job that can put him on the road for nine months of the year and he is a West Australian boy and loves Western Australia and loves the Perth coast line down to Freo, Great thoughtful present for him by his family. We did end up chatting about Cricket. I have watched the series ‘The Test’ and it was fantastic. There is a point in the series when Australia was absolutely in the box seat to win the test and they lost it. The footage then goes upstairs to the Australian rooms and the Coach loses his cool and kicks a bin. I had to ask him You’ve lost the Test, you’ve lost your cool, you’ve kicked a bin to oblivion . Why did you pick up the rubbish that was in the bin ?? His wife just said that’s what he does. I had to laugh. It was great to meet him. Really nice guy And he loves his painting #justinlanger

16.01.2022 A Toodyay local having a look

16.01.2022 Jurek Wybraniec presented us with the opportunity to frame his work for the 2021 City of Joondalup Invitation Art Award. We had a discussion on the style and componentry of the frame and we pre-made everything. Then @wybramiec came in with the various works on paper. I liked the process with the hinging of the multiple pieces of paper to create the one image for the Award. There were elements of his show earlier this year at Art Collective that I could see extending to this w...ork. The work for Joondalup is mixed media on various paper with different finishes and different types of stock. I like it. Textural, fluid, patterned and overlapping. It’s cool. The other part I found interesting was the placement, overlapping and joining of the sheets of paper to get the balance just right. It was an insight into the composition and structure which we never get to see happen in the Artist’s Studio. Jurek climbed up the steps to the mezzanine to view the work from a distance while I moved the work slightly to make sure it was exactly where he wanted it. I like this photo because even after we had the placement, Jurek just stood and looked at the work with the slightly tilted head. It seems the work cannot ever be looked at properly unless the head is tilted slightly The City of Joondalup Invitation Art prize will be at Westfield Whitford City. Sunday 10 October Sunday 24 October. Get along and have a look. There are some heavy hitters exhibiting and they always come up with great works.

15.01.2022 Meet Kate Hamersley. Kate is Registrar at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of Western Australia. She has held that position at Larrys since 2005. Kate studied Costume Design at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, specialising in Millinery and worked for several years in Theatre and Film. She then completed a Bachelor of Arts in Heritage Studies at Curtin University with a Major in Visual Arts Theory and an Honours Dissertation in Museum and Cultural Studies.... Kate was Curatorial Assistant and Exhibition Co-Ordinator at John Curtin Gallery from 1998-2005. What does the Registrar do at an Art Gallery you ask. In an art gallery the Registrar looks after documentation, conservation, loans, exhibitions, packing and shipping, insurance, security, risk management of artworks and road trips. No wonder she is always under the pump. Road Trips are very important. Larrys road trips to @artpresentations are always fun. Over the years there have been many trip here with works for framing, repair, remount or a re-jig. The best road trips I remember was when Matthew Hunt was at Larrys. Kate and Matty used to come in and wed laugh and have so much fun and then talk shop. They were the fantastic hilarious days. I know when Gemma Weston came on a road trip for the first time, she was looking strangely at our humorous discussions about everything and eventually wed get onto the work stuff. Get down to Larrys once they open up officially and look at the beautiful exhibitions they put on for all to enjoy @lwagallery @huntmatthewhunt @gw_2000

14.01.2022 We had a visit from Marie McNeil to make a frame for her entry in the City of Joondalup Art Award. Marie is a lovely lady with a rich history in Art. Graduating with a Diploma in Graphic Design from Perth Technical College in 1974, she then was the Printmaking Lecturer at the Geraldton College of TAFE. Marie established a Printmaking Studio at the Geraldton Art Society with the assistance of grants from various organisations. Then became the Inaugural Coordinator : Associate ...Diploma of Visual Arts of Edith Cowan University at Geraldton Regional College of TAFE Head of Geraldton TAFE Art Department (1992) Marie then became Printmaking and Drawing Lecturer at Geraldton Regional College of TAFE followed by Art Teacher at Strathalbyn Christian College, Geraldton. Perth bound now Drawing / Painting Lecturer at Midland TAFE, Art Technician, Lecturer at ECU, Churchlands Then the start of a beautiful relationship with St Marys Anglican Girls School where she has worked in a variety of roles in the Art Dept. @mcnm71 always talks so enthusiastically about her students and being in the junior school now, gets to share her love for Art onto the kids and hopefully, the kids will love Art and the idea of Art the way we all do. I think that is so very important So having a Diploma in Graphic Design, a Bachelor of Visual Art Education and a Master of Visual Art and doing all she has done, Marie still gets a buzz out of the kids she teaches and the Art she produces. Marie is a lovely lady, always good to see her and have a natter. Sometimes when she comes in, she brings cake, slices or something yummy.. but not this time sadly Only just learnt her son who is in London is Jono McNeil. Jono is a musician and a vocal coach on The Voice UK ..well I never.

14.01.2022 Every gate for the show had a line like this. I’ve never seen queues this long. Check out my idiot daughter.

13.01.2022 Just dropped in. Allegedly not a bribe.

12.01.2022 @carolynmurdochartist dropped in this Kangaroo Paw watercolour to be mounted for an Exhibition. The Botanical Art Society of Australia is pleased to present the 2020 Flora Exhibition On-Line. BASA decided to do a virtual show with no attendance with the health, safety and well-being of its Members and the public due to the COVID pandemic. There are over 100 works on show via the website https://flora.botanicalartsocietyaustralia.com/... Carolyn’s work like all Botanical Artists is so incredibly finite it’s crazy. When you next are out and see a Kangaroo Paw, go up close and look at the tiny hairs on it. Carolyn has done this delicate detail in her watercolour Madness but so very accurate and it is crucial to do it right. I’ve had a look at the website and scrolled through the images. Those Artists are painstakingly precise in their craft. Please have a look at the Exhibition and follow Carolyn on Instagram or check out her website www.carolynmurdochart.com.au Good lady good fun good chat as always See more

12.01.2022 Our best Mate, Big Bad Bustlin Benno came in to see us. Benny Wright is putting some Watercolours into The Watercolour Society of WA Annual Awards Exhibition 2020. We have a few Artists entering the same Awards. Benno is a bloody legend most of the time but unfortunately on this visit she let the team down. She didnt bring us a batch of her simply fabulous sausage rolls.... Well forgive her. Seriously though, Benno is a bloody legend. She lives life to the absolute fullest and is always on the go. We dig her and her attitude. She loves Painting loves everything involved with her craft. Benny is a ripper. Before COVID, she was always travelling around the globe on Painting trips with her Mates and after some of the tales shed tell me I know Id struggle to keep up with her. Like Benno, there are a lot of talented Artists in The Watercolour Society of WA Annual Awards Exhibition. Get down have a look and support all the locals putting their best works forward and recognize the work put in by The Watercolour Society of WA to get this show up and about. The Watercolour Society of WA Annual Awards Exhibition 2020 will be held in Fremantle at the Italian Club. Opening Night is October 8 @ 6:30pm The Exhibition will continue October 9, 10 and 11 Good luck to all entering @watercoloursocietywa

12.01.2022 When I think about my early days @artpresentations, I think of the young, driven, eager, cool artists that graced our doorstep. Another one that came out of the Gotham Studios crew was Richard Gunning. Richard was one of the new Artists making a splash on the Perth Art Scene. Rich did his Bachelor of Arts at WAIT (now Curtin Uni) and doing further post graduate studies at the Central School of Art and Design in London. His tenure of studies was 3 months, but he stayed longer.... He said he applied for a grant to get to London and study and was awarded the grant. He said the only grant he ever got. Well worth it!! I remember he used to come in with his works and hed tell me about the Ballroom as we looked at his paintings. The Ballroom was in Dalkeith and was his studio / residence / party centre. Exactly which order Im not sure. We laughed the other day about some of the parties there. Enough said. Rich mostly painted oils on canvas which depicted everyday life in his studio, the Ballroom and scenes of his life and environment. He had a certain softness about the brush to the canvas which I really liked. He exhibited with Doug and Magda Sheerer at Galerie Dusseldorf and was a perfect fit for that Gallery. Doug had heaps of that genre of Artists on the roster. In recent years, he has tutored in Fine Art in a number of Art Schools including Curtin Uni, UWA and Central TAFE. Rich, Melissa, Thomas, Andrew, Kevin, Rick they were hot young Artists bursting onto the scene. Great Days. One of Richards lifelong friends was the late David McComb from the Perth band The Triffids. I said to Rich, there was probably a very good chance I was standing next to him at the Shenton Park Hotel watching The Triffids. Richard has worked at the Town of Vincent looking after their collection and currently works part-time for the Department of Culture and the Arts, runs Art appreciation and Art history courses while continuing to paint and exhibit. Rich is such a good bloke and such a great painter. I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane with him. I encourage everyone to seek out him and his work. See more

11.01.2022 Lovely afternoon visit to @benjaminsimonjoel and @katrinavirgona place. The dog loves it at Benjo’s place. The dog watched BJ eat the biscuit very carefully. BJ had given the dog shmackos so he thought he was in for more. There’s some great stuff happening in their studios

11.01.2022 Strange looking Victorian number plate....

10.01.2022 I first started working @artpresentations in 1989. I hadnt been here that long when a large collage, mixed media work on paper was brought in to be framed. A Louise Paramor. A very large Louise Paramor. It was sensational.... I instantly became a Louise Paramor fan. I had never seen a collage of that scale and the owner of the painting was such and lovely lady and still to this day drops things in to be framed and is still a very lovely lady. It was the largest artwork Id ever framed. 244 x 193cm Donna the owner loved the Paramor and bought it at the Church Gallery, we think, at an exhibition. There was a series of the large works, all unframed and all big, bold and beautiful. Donna met Louise when they were at WAIT in the early 80s . Donna had a daughter named Eve. Eve has just known The Paramor her whole life hanging in her house. She had a love affair with the painting and knew all about Louise Paramor the Artist. At an exhibition, Eves husband got talking to Louise and when she introduced herself, he said I know all about you and your paintings. He explained the story of the painting to Louise and that Eve had always wanted one of her own and they were squirrelling away money to buy one etc etc etc. Louise loved what she heard, remembered Donna and said to Eve she would send her one. Eve got her very own Louise Paramor. Same size as her Mums Donna and Eve came in to look at the new work and we reminisced about the original painting, the exhibition and the admiration we all had of the works and Louise Paramor The work is going to a great home where it will be loved and looked at many times a day, every day of the week. Donna still looks at her Louise every day too How cool is that.. @louise_paramor www.louiseparamor.com

10.01.2022 Graham Stove has an exhibition of paintings and textiles coming up on the 28th August 2020 at EARLYWORK GALLERY, South Fremantle. These new works continue to find inspiration from the circle motif. In the late sixties Stove enrolled at the James Street Technical College Northbridge in the Graphic Design Course. The teaching staff at the time included Phillipa OBrien, Marjorie Bussey, Nancy Langley, George Haynes, Geoff Wake, Tom Higgins, Lou Lambert and Lee Hood. Amongst the... students were Ashley Jones, Neil Hollis and Brendon Derby. In 1982, Graham enrolled with the Printmakers at St. Brigids in Fitzgerald Street. Leon Pericles, Brian McKay and Edgar Karabanos were some of the teaching staff there at the time while some of the students were Murray Gill, Ron Gomboc, Janis Nedela, Jill Kempson and Babe Hall. Stove commenced a B.A. in Visual Arts at Curtin in 1992 as a mature age student, completing a major in textiles and a minor in jewellery. At this time Post Modern Theory and conceptualisation were all the buzz. The consideration of intention, deconstruction and research were all part of the creative process. Ted Snell, as head of school, was succeeded by John Teschendorff during this time. The lectures included Bronwyn Goss, Felicity Peters, Ben Joel, Nick Horne, Kevin Draper, and Harry Hummerston and amongst the students were Cathy Blanchflower, Matthew Hunt, Bevan Honey, Julie Dowling, Kate McMillan and Lorna Murray. Stove worked as a contract artist with the Education Dept for ten years this was before his studies at Curtin. On leaving Curtin Stove did some part time teaching at both Central and Midland Tafe Colleges. Graham sold work through Gunyulgup Galleries and Code Red Gallery. Stove has exhibited his work at Artplace, Gallery East, Harvison Gallery and the Moores Building. His works are in the collections of Edith Cowan, Murdoch University and AGWA See more

10.01.2022 How good is this for shopping local. A lovely lady came into @artpresentations with some prints to be framed. The prints were bought from @kateandabelperth the super funky shop in Market St, Fremantle. In her selection there is the print Pontoon by Kate Hulett and two @anyapaintface prints. The Anya Brock Budgie is going in a little girls room and is the first artwork in her collection. She was very excited.... Mum gets Pontoon and the other Anya. Soon after @luke_odonohoe ones on with his limited edition @_sambloor print which was purchased from @lintonandkay . Everyone helping, supporting and loving everyone else. Brilliant!!! Lets all get on board that train!! See more

10.01.2022 A big congratulations to Susan Roux for winning the 2020 John Stringer Prize. When we saw Susan’s work for the @artcollectivewa show, we were blown away. Obviously the judges were blown away too. Well done Susan!!!

09.01.2022 A blast from the past Weve just finished framing some really early works by Tim Burns. Tim Burns has had a long career in the Artworld Sometimes pushing the envelope and sailing a little too close to the wind with his works.... The early years of his practice saw the artist accrue a number of arrests and shut downs on account of his controversial performance installations involving explosives. This eventually prompted his move to New York in the 1970s, where he remained for the next two decades, working predominantly in film. Courtesy of Art Collective WA Tim was mentored by Bob Juniper in painting at School. Not bad. And they stayed friends These works on paper we reframed, etchings and small colour drawing were done in the early very 70s. They seem naive knowing what was to come. Burns, also known as 3rd Degree Burns, is the Artist youve heard the stories about and they are almost legendary so to get six works on paper that were done when he was still getting up and running is special to us. In New York, he delved into Film and that seems to have been a main stay for a long period of time. Interesting fact He has also produced, directed, shot or edited a number of Music Videos in New York for Australian bands such as Crowded House, Midnight Oil, and Nick Cave Tim now lives in York, Western Australia Here is a guy who made his mark in the Artworld.. etched it.. blew it up and filmed it. @ Art Presentations

09.01.2022 We received a Lester Prize Portrait to frame by Wade Taylor. Wade is an early career artist from Perth, Western Australia. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Western Australia and has been painting consistently since. Working mostly with paint his work explores various issues surrounding Australian identity and the landscape, more often themes of suburbia, nostalgia, and the everyday. He is very interested in the materiality of oil paint and the emotive properties of c...olour and light often working in saturated or neon tones. His work seems to centre on a familiar yet unsettling quality to the contemporary Australian landscape. Wade is currently working towards his next solo body of work entitled We Know Where U Live scheduled for August 2021 at Stala Contemporary which will expand upon his recurring interest in fire and disaster! I questioned Wade on his subject matter. Bunnings Inglewood burning down, the Perth Sky Show Plane crash and he replied it is the bleak local disasters we hear about but it isnt documented on canvas. He has had five Solo shows at various galleries including Nyisztor Studio and Turner Galleries and has work in many private and public collections including the City of Perth collection and Edith Cowan collection. He has been a finalist in the Lester Prize two years in running This time Wade may take home the chocolates. He is represented by Stala contemporary. When Wade was in @artpresentations and he witnessed a rather cantankerous old women who was rather vicious toward the kind gentleman serving her. In the background, I could see him giggling which wasnt helping my situation. Wade is an extraordinary cyclist also. I have seen the footage of him braving a bike track in Collie filmed by and including commentary by @carlaadams Hilarious footage. Very funny commentary too. @wade_ See more

09.01.2022 The extremely talented Erin Coates dropped two works on paper in to @artpresentations for framing. The last time I saw Erin, she was blonde now look at the new revised model. Looking the goods Erin. @coates_erin is super talented artist and award winner of The Best Production Design trophy from Women in Horror Film Festival in Atlanta for the film Dark Water. We have two works here at the moment.... One is a fantastic delicate drawing- Ocular Barnacles. The other is a multi-image mixed media, nine drawings in one frame. I have seen the 3D works Erin does, the multimedia, the drawings and the subject matter of her creatures and anatomy. I said to Erin when she came in I appreciate, admire and absolutely recognise her talent, her role working @fremantleartscentre being Special Projects Curator but man Youre a weirdo chick We both laughed. Erin is a cool gal with a groovy new hair colour but most of all she is great value and a great Artist and practitioner. I recommend you look for Erins work and appreciate the time and skill that goes into her wonderful works. Talk to her and discover where shes at. Shes not really a weirdo. See more

08.01.2022 While your down if Fremantle way next weekend, shoot over to South Fremantle to Sometimes Gallery, 6 King William Street and check out the exhibition featuring the two wonderfully talented ladies @gabriellescottstudio and @lauren.elise.incolour . The show opens Friday 20th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Then the exhibition will run from Saturday until Sunday 29 November. Once again, check out the show, grab a fizzy and a feed somewhere in Freo and make a day of it. Get behind and support a couple of local ladies and leave some monetary love in the Fremantle area.

07.01.2022 The absolutely talented Eveline Kotai came into @artpresentations with some works to be framed. It was great to chat with Eveline and look at her mixed media works. Personally I think they are sensational. The amount of time, effort, planning and sewing that goes into each work is incredible. Its only when you get up close and look at the patterns and width of each sewn strand of painted canvas do you see the labour and beauty.... This visit was strange on a couple of fronts with Cuz She didnt bring cakes, very unusual for her and we didnt compare photos on our phone very unusual for the both of us. She shows me grandkids I show her my dog. Its a running gag between us. I call her Cuz because we are sort of distantly related by marriage. Known her for ever and only discovered it that a few years ago. Hush hush but word is Eveline and Ellie had landed a project which they are very excited about. Evelines work is something to be seen and admired. I cannot get my head around the amount of canvas strips and the sewing that go into the images. @evelinekotai exhibits @artcollectivewa and she has work in the stock room. Go in, have a look, do what I do, touch it and run your fingers over it .very textural. Aside from that, Cuz is great too

07.01.2022 Weve got good customers, good Artists and good people who walk through the door @artpresentations One of the best, and certainly one my personal favourites is Philippa Nikulinsky. Ive known Philippa for a long time now and we have a great rapport. When Philippa walks in the door she says hello and before we talk framing, she asks about me and about my family and their health. A personal touch like that is quite magnificent because it shows we do connect in a personal way ra...ther than just the Framer and Artist. On this day, She told me she and Alex were getting ready to go bush. She loves the bush and that is her re-charge. I have the same re-charge when I go bush. Philippa had a huge 2019 and 2020 has not slowed down. Maybe it was a flow on from the extremely successful exhibition at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery. Even the staff at Larrys were astounded by the numbers flocking to see her beautiful watercolours. We got talking and I was saying she must have a great sense of satisfaction and well-being where she sits now in the Botanical Artworld and Artworld in general. Being the most grounded person she is, Philippa answered it has taken 50 years of hard work and long hours. We discussed one Sunday morning at Art Presentations when planning an exhibition, that when she first got married, she knew every recipe for mince, sausages and potatoes. They had no money, a cool drink crate for a table and at night and Philippa would do dressmaking for extra income. She said they had nothing to begin with so now they look back and are grateful and appreciate where they have landed and also that people have embraced her craft with such vigour. We joked about the bangers and mash in the early days, the struggle for recognition and the first up give away prices for her works. Sure shes worked hard to become a brilliant Artist and her prices reflect longevity in the market place and good on her. The lesson to all Artisans is to stick to your guns, work hard and the fruits of your labour will be recognised. Just make sure you are a good person and talk to your framer really nicely cos hes probably a pretty good bloke See more

07.01.2022 We had a visit from Sandy Tippett, Gallery Director of The Studio Gallery in Yallingup. She met Jean Sher @artpresentations to look at some new canvas Jean has painted and we are to frame. The Studio Gallery & Bistro in Yallingup is a purpose built contemporary Art space with an award winning restaurant alongside. October this year will mark the tenth anniversary of The Studio Gallery (Sandy and her husband took over the gallery & bistro just over five and a half years ago). ...@studiogalleryandbistro proudly represent emerging and professional artists with regular exhibitions held over the summer months, and regular displays year round of all the artists they represent. It, like many other galleries in the beautiful south west region is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy good art, food and wine. The motto of the Gallery is "Where good art and food come together". A few Artists on The Studio Gallery roster are Art Presentations customers. They have a wide and varied collection of Artists and Art. During these weird Covid-19 times, venture down south and visit the Galleries, the Wineries, the Restaurants and enjoy the wonderful things Western Australia has to offer. The Studio Gallery and Bistro is open from 10:00am. Closed Tuesday Look them up on www.thestudiogallery.com.au By the way, Jeannie was up to her usual tricks and having a cheeky giggle and Sandy was on for the ride. See more

07.01.2022 Jennifer Hopewell dropped a couple of small paintings in the other day. I havent seen Jen for a while so it was good to catch up. Shes just had a new studio installed at her house so the painting machine is getting ready to crank up to full speed. Jen still has work available through @yallingupgalleries and through Jenny herself. We had words about a photo being taken but I got one in anyway.... That is evident by her sarcastic pose for the shot I have recently seen some of the paintings by one of Jennys daughters. Chip off the old block. Great sense of colour and application of paint. Look forward to seeing more works from both of them If you head down south, duck into Yallingup Galleries and look at Jennys wonderful works See more

05.01.2022 A little fun for Friday These shoes were worn in by a customer yesterday. Art for feet. They are seriously 3D and full of colour.... I asked the owner about them, she ABSOLUTELY loves them and she has a few similar pairs from a particular shop that sells them. I asked her if she had a problem. Her response was a question. ‘Is 250 pairs of shoes a problem?’ I called her Imelda. I was informed that Imelda’s collection was boring in comparison. The crazy thing was her personality was a cheerful and bright as her shoes.

05.01.2022 I would personally like to thank the 3M company, the CEO and President of the 3m Company and other companies that make these little sticky hanger thingys. We get three or more reglazes or repairs due to the Artwork falling off the wall because of the use of these. I know when you read the packet, they state it can take 20 kg worth of weight. From the repairs we have done, I dont think they can. Actually I know they cant.... The frame that came in today had six hangers on it and it still fell off the wall and it is only 40 x 40cms. As you can see, there is a perfectly good cord hanger on the back of the frame. No one in the house had a drill so they went the easy option. Well, so they thought. It is a $40.00 reglaze and now they are getting someone in to hang it and other Artworks professionally. AND they are throwing out all the other sticky hangers they have on the back of the frames. @artpresentations would always recommend using a wall plug and screw and if you are Ten Thumbs Talbot and have no idea how to hang Artwork, use a professional installer to ensure it stay on the wall in one piece. @ Art Presentations See more

05.01.2022 We had a visit from Reif Myers to collect the canvases we stretched up for him. @reifaxl has had a hectic time over the past couple of months. He spent the first part of COVID living down south and painting. Reif returned to Perth and was back in the studio and feverishly painting He went up to Narloo on a surfing / painting trip for a week.... He was supposed to have works in exhibitions in Dubai, California and New York but due to COVID it didnt happen so some relax time in the warmth of the northwest was a good distraction. He also did damage to his ribs so was struggling to surf and paint but that has mended and he is back on track now. Back in Perth and its all happening. Hes got a few commissions and has currently just finished a large beach piece to be stretched and displayed on a 4.6m wall in a new hotel in Dubai alongside three x 12ft painted surfboards back and front. Also hes just moved into a new Studio at Blinc n Co in Fremantle. Hes finally got a studio space to display his finished Artworks and work on new works without climbing over everything like the old studio. He wont know what to do with himself Good bloke with a lot of drive and I like seeing that in young Artists See more

04.01.2022 One guy I really like seeing is Bevan Honey. I don’t see him often but it’s always good when he fronts up. According to Bevo, this is what he’s been up to. So, besides a bit of drawing, painting, wood cutting and general foolish behaviour making work for FREEDOM, a show coming up (at Wireless Hill produced by City of Melville) on the history and culture of skateboarding in WA, and a solo at The Collective next year, there's always something to look at in the shed.... We talk a little work; we talk a little family and then I ask about his big passion other than Susanna. His cars. Specifically, the Valiant’s. He has a love for his Valiant’s. The two door 1970 VG was purchased by Bev and Susanna in the second year of their relationship. He’s rebuilding itas you do. The car NOT the relationship that seems to be okay The off-white wagon is a 1968 VE Safari and is 53 years old. Check out the tyres and the venetians in the rear windows. These are a couple of serious Sunday cruisers. Whenever Bevo turns up @artpresentations I will always look into the carpark to see what set of wheels has got him to us. I’m always a little disappointed when it’s in the 4WD. He’s got a couple of motor bikes in the shed as well that he’s doing rebuilds, refurbs and touch ups on. Every time I see him, it’s like he is just floating through. Never stressed. Never loud just getting it done and so exceptionally laid back. I’m looking forward to the 2022 show next year and the history of skateboarding in WA. I remember when that craze first hit Australia. If you get the opportunity to meet Bevan, please do. Chat to him about his Art and his cars and you will meet a really good bloke. Bit laid back but a good bloke all the same Check out his website bevanhoney.com

04.01.2022 Down at dog beach and Harvey dog met his cousin. They played for about an hour. Someone is a little tired now. Bring on summer

04.01.2022 This is another of the @artpresentations favourites - Heather Jones. She tricked me and did a runner before I could take a photo, so I used one from her in her studio. Heather is a multi-talented Artist, using the following formats - Printmaking, Painting, Jewellery design and Textiles. Lovely lady and much loved artist. Her work always sells when on exhibition.... I think from memory if we go right back in time, she was doing Drafting at Perth Tech and was possibly the only female in the class. Then a Diploma in Art Studies at TAFE followed by a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Fine Art and English from UWA. She also taught Watercolour, Printmaking and Design at Carine TAFE. In there also was family, Kids and everything else. I can remember framing her Exhibitions for Rics Gallery, Stafford Studios, @gallowsgallery and @gunyulgup. She has had nearly 20 solo shows and many mixed shows. Her still life canvases were always popular and in demand but I really liked her abstract landscapes. I used to drop things into her sometimes on the way home from work I virtually drove past her front door. The Joness used to have this bloody dog. Sam Sam used to tear around the house going from window to window so he could see me at all times and snarl and bark at me when I pulled up. Heather used to yell at him but to no avail. Mongrel thing it was. We still to this day giggle about Frock Day. She used to come down here on Thursdays with her Mum in the car. Heather used to take her Mum shopping on Thursdays and they would go shopping for frocks. Never buy, just shop for them. I used to walk out the front and say Frock Day? Yes, Frock Day was the reply. It just became our standard. If you are down Gunyulgup Galleries or Gallows Gallery way, call in and have a look at Heathers beautiful work www.heatherjonesartist.com.au

04.01.2022 This work is some of the funnest work I have seen for ages. Funnest. Is that even a word. Sara Drake dropped in to ask about acrylic boxes for her 3D works. It ended up that we use the same people who fabricate acrylic. @sara_drake is an artist and a map maker.... The work she showed me was an aerial view of Fremantle with all its landmarks. It was so good. There were the people on the beaches, the streets, cars, buildings, people at parks and every part of the map is made by Sara and then painted. All I could see was hours and hours of work with miniature figures and scaling of the streetscape of Freo. I cannot begin to fathom the attention to detail in the making of these works. So finite and completely detailed. Madness. The appreciation of the creator and her patience needs to be admired. So many different layers, objects and visual points. I was enthralled and totally sucked in. Looking at Artwork every day, I see the heavy, deep work, the beautiful landscapes, the stunning portraits, the intense mixed media. This work flipped the ‘usual’ for me. I wanted to touch and feel the 3D objects but only a child would do that. Sometimes we get to see something that just lights the room with fun and this was it. I encourage everyone to have a look at Sara’s work via Instagram or on her website www.saradrake.com If you ever get the chance to look at the actual work, you will have a huge smile on your face. It really is cool and fun and actually very accurate. I dig it. There are giclée prints available now of some of the works. @joes.printing has done her printing on a range of the images. They are available through Sarah and her various social media platforms. Unfortunately the photos do not do justice to the real thing so you will have to go and see them for yourself

04.01.2022 How do we end up painting watercolours for an exhibition in October at Kidogo. Sue Cross has an exhibition coming up later in the year and how did she end up at this point. As a young girl in the South of England, Sue spent time drawing and painting. A career in cartography was pursued working in diverse associated fields such as aerial mapping, landscape architecture, and geological survey. Sue migrated to Australia in the early 80s leaving the workforce in 1989 to start a ...family. Study in horticulture and botany followed, and this revived an interest in botanical art, and art in general, particularly watercolour. Sue participated in many workshops with well-known artists in order to further her skills, and develop her own style. She is captivated by a wide range of subject matter and although landscapes are the most prolific, it is the desire to capture atmosphere, light, or a sense of drama that dictates the choice of subject. Working in the medium for over 25 years has refined her technique and skills and she has had two solo shows won many prizes at mixed shows. Sue travels the state and countryside looking for inspiration in colour, texture and beauty of the Australian landscape. This is quite cool In 2018 and 2019 Sue was selected to represent Australia in Fabriano in Aquarello in Fabriano, Italy. In 2019 and 2020 and was also chosen among the Top 3 in an international watercolour magazine The Art of Watercolour in their readers competition in June 2018 When Sue has her exhibition at Kidogo, go and have a look at why people love her work. 03.01.2022 Chris Spiker dropped four watercolours in @artpresentations to be framed. We love Chriss work. This is my favourite of the four, the Pink and Grey Galahs. Beautifully and carefully painted watercolours with an insane amount of detail. One of the four works will end up at @aspectsofkingspark... Please check out the wonderful work by @spikerc.art or www.spikerphotos.com I asked Chris how he went during COVID and he said it suited him well and didnt really change his lifestyle. Wake up, walk the dog, in the studio, walk the dog, relax, bed and then do it all again. He said it was good to be able to knuckle down in the studio and really work at the paintings. The paintings are on his website and are quite magnificent. Chris shows his work at Aspects and Boranup Gallery and is welcoming to people going to his studio also. He is a lovely bloke who loves what he does and really labours over it Please check him out and his wonderful paintings @boranupgallery6285 @ Art Presentations

03.01.2022 Kate from @kateandabelperth dropped in today to collect and discuss some options for some new works . She is very happy with the new shop and its new location. 47 Market Street, Fremantle Wednesday to Sunday 10am 4pm The ever busy little beaver, we were about number 4 on the list of things to do. We spoke about the shop, the opening party, Sam, the upcoming exhibition, the bathroom reno that’s about it.... She brings a smile to our busy world. Always good to catch up. She insisted we get to look at the new digs. Make sure you get down to Freo and support Kate, the shop , the eateries, the Galleries and enjoy the day. Allegedly there are backroom conversations of my photographic skills being a little below par. Kate, that certainly could not be true !! #kateandabel #kateandabelperth

03.01.2022 My book by @_sambloor Dumb For Your Love arrived today. Straight home to go with the books by my other customers, hopefully after Ive convinced Sam to sign it. Congratulations on the book... All Sold Out!! @ Art Presentations

02.01.2022 Adding to the glamour visitors this week was Susanna Castleden. In actual fact she was very glam and heading off to work after dropping in her entry for the Joondalup Art Prize for us to frame. The really lovely thing is we talked business, then I asked about Bevo and his cars but then she asked about my kids and what they were up to. I haven’t seen @susannacastleden for ages but her consideration was really nice and we swapped tales of our kids and what they are up to. She h...as a lot going on but I was intrigued by her new found Covid past time. Running. Long distance running. Marathons. She has always cycled but moved to this new venture. We spoke about what she’s doing with prep in training and about the importance of footwear for a marathon runner. Get this. She always buys great shoes but when they have done about 500 kms they are done and in comes the new pair. Does she clock the km’s she does in the shoes? The other interesting fact. I asked about her fuel load for training and running and what it equates to. I had to laugh as she explained it to me. When they eat, Bevo has his meal and Susanna smashes food down and eats more than him. Susanna has been interested in aircraft and some of her recent works have been rubbings of planes and parts of planes and aircraft anatomy. She has been to an aircraft graveyard to do some rubbings. How very cool is that. She also said that pre-covid, she would lie in bed and listen to the planes fly overhead. That’s the A380 to Dubai That’s the QA747 to London Covid no flights. She misses it. Weirdo. Wonderful lady Wonderful artist Please follow her on Instagram and make sure you look at her work when she next exhibits See more

02.01.2022 Mia Laing visited us with some works to be framed and for a giggle and chat. @mialaing_artist has been busy during COVID-19 exploring imaginative realism and surrealism paintings. She is entering the York Botanical Art Prize and has been a finalist in the York Botanical before. Mia also had some works at the Hale Art Exhibition and sold go girl. Mias works can be seen and bought at Yallingup Galleries, Gallery Aura, Kojonup, Gallery 360 and online using various platforms.... And of course Gallery JAM with Joanne Duffy and Alix Korte. Word on the street is those three ventured out Toodyay way yesterday to see the wildflowers which are starting to come out. Im yet to hear how the trip went. Knowing those three, there would have been a few laughs. Mia is trying hard to do things a little differently to other traditional still-life artists. Multipotentialite- enjoying multiple genre - underwater art, imaginative realism, still-life, pet portraits, wildlife and whimsy. No box, no boundaries, just a real love and passion for Paint, Painting and Art. She always walks in our front door with a smile. Always good to Mia. @joanneduffyartist @gallery.j.a.m @@alixkorteart @yallingupgalleries @galleryaura @fineart_at_hale

01.01.2022 Last week with all the craziness of the world, it was very remiss of me not to acknowledge that Stirling Open Art Studios is on for 2021. This Sunday between 10am 4 pm, eight studios in the City of Stirling will be opened by their Artists to go and look at their wonderful Art and give you the opportunity to casually speak to the them, learn about their craft, style and influences and then buy some pretty cool work. I have spoken to a few of the Artists this week and they sa...id that last Sunday was great. Good sales Good attendance at the Studios Good vibes in a casual, relaxed atmosphere where the Artist is in their two safest zones Home and Studio. To some of them, I wonder which is actually the safer of the two zones. It will be great weather this weekend so while you’re out and about this Sunday, cruise up to the northern suburbs and check out some really cool works and meet some great people. Maryann Devereux said that there was a few Artists coming through her door and they were happy to chat and compare notes. Last week was well attended in the miserable weather so this weekend should be a belter because of the great weather The Artists featured are as follows Lindy Midalia, Maryann Devereux, Geoff Devereux, Lucy Papalia, Stephanie Boyle, Richard Aitken, Julie Silvester, Gail Leidich, Annie Rawle, Ros Blackburn and Ben Brennan.

01.01.2022 One of the absolute good guys from the Western Australian Art scene was passing by and called in to say hello. Helen Turner from Turner Galleries. Its almost been a year since Turners closed its doors. That time has screamed past. I asked how Hels how she was doing and what she was doing.... A lot of domestic stuff and Spending time with the Family That was always the intention with the closing of the Gallery. Today we didnt look at Grandkid photos on her phone normally we do I enquired whether she missed Turners and she replied missed it terribly. She said since the closure of the Gallery she was so much richer and so much poorer. Please explain. Richer for the fact she wasnt pouring her own money into the Gallery, but poorer because she wasnt having the contact with all the wonderfully talented Artists, the Collectors, the Curators, Alli and Bel and @artpresentations of course. Helen has three very beautiful daughters and I asked her how they were and she asked which one the hot one, the hotter one or the hottest one. We cracked up laughing because it was always a running gag between us trying to figure out the conversation about the girls and their children and which girl it was. It was so good to see Hels Bells and we giggled like we always did and she is looking fantastic and still smiling. To all the Artists who were on the TG Roster, she misses you all and that came across today in our conversation. Hels is a ripper See more
