23.01.2022 This NAIDOC week you are invited to visit Warrior Woman Lane to celebrate the life of Lisa Bellear - Warrior Woman Lane NAIDOC Event Lisa Bellear is a Minjungbul, Goernpil, Noonuccal and South Sea Islander woman from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island, Queensland), born in Naarm (Melbourne), where she became a beloved member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Lisa was a prolific activist, photographer, broadcaster, poet, feminist, politician, comedian, ...academic and performer. Lisa identified NAIDOC as the most proud, fun and magical week of community pride. Introducing our guest artists for Always Was, Always Will Be: First Nations Artists in Conversation, starting shortly, at 3pm via Zoom Host Bridget Caldwell-Bright is a Jingili and Mudburra writer and freelance editor based in Melbourne.... Artist Charlotte Allingham is a 27 year old Ngiyampaa, Wiradjuri woman from central west nsw, who specializes in Illustration, around Blak futurism and Blak strength. Artist and actress Nathalie McLean is a saltwater and desert woman who decends from the Wakka Wakka, Gubbi Gubbi and Kullali clans in Queensland. Nat is a pioneer of change in the arts industry, supporting and creating opportunities for First Nation artists. Artist and curator Savanna Kruger is a proud Wotjobaluk and South Sea Islander woman born and raised in the Indigenous arts community in Narrm. 20.01.2022 Generate 2020 // Working in First Nations Cultural Contexts is designed to build the capacity and effectiveness of non-Indigenous workers to better support sovereignty and self-determined outcomes in First Nations arts, culture, education and community engaged practice. The program brings together experienced facilitators and guest speakers including members of FCAC’s Indigenous Advisory Group, connecting you with Elders and Koorie community members, artists and educators as ...they share with you their first-hand knowledge and experience. It will delivered over two half-days a week for three consecutive weeks. Genevieve Grieves will be joined by: Vicki Couzens, Lilly Brown, Gina Bundle, Dan Mitchell, Hannah Morphy-Walsh, Dianne Jones, Odette Kelada, with a special appearance from Uncle Larry Walsh. StopMotion is a new micro-commission program to encourage local artists to field test your work in a street art context. We're seeking 14 artists from Maribyrnong and neighbouring municipalities in the West to transform local traffic signal boxes with new original works. Selected artists will receive a $500 micro-commission fee, mentorin...g and materials, as well as attending a one-day workshop on working in public space and developing site-specific designs. Original) as well as Indigenous singer/songwriters Mo’Ju, Alice Skye, Kev Carmody, Birdz, Fred Leone and Mau P...ower, a diverse group of performers known for their powerful music and political voice. The weaver of the story is outstanding poet and performer Steven Oliver. He connects the songline as he travels the land interrogating Cook’s legacy, and revealing Indigenous perspectives of the mysterious Cooky.
