The Creative Corner Festival offers a wide range of different experiences for festival-goers, engaging with people for a whole day of live entertainment, food, fashion, festivity, and an art competition! First prize ($750) will be decided by a panel of three judges, while the second prize ($250) will be a peoples choice. 21.01.2022 Meet our Artists: Press Her - selected performances from the Press Her exhibition including Untitled (interactive large tank performance) and Untitled (hanging molasses drip performance) by Madeline Beckett, at the arts Hotel Sydney, from 2pm to 5pm. Press Her is a performative installation that looks at the human form in response to pressure. The work reimagines the human body in various states of vulnerability - being made susceptible, burdened and impressionable. ... Press Her is the blanketed title given to describe an arrangement of individual performances (five in total) involving specific sculptural structures and various materials that subject the body to pressure - whether this be the physical pressure of reciprocal touch, the pressure of materiality exerted on the moving strained or immersed body, or the abstract suggestion of slow accumulated pressure. The two performances selected for the Creative Corner festival are performed by visual artist Isaac Nixon and actress Lucy Kate Westbrook. Nic Arlington an...d Sydney band bassist Jared King met at the Australian Institute of Music. Nic and Jared combined on their first EP in March 2015, produced by Craig Porteils, at Attic Studios, Sydney. The band shot their first music video for lead single, Picture Of You, and currently recording their debut album and beginning to perform live nationally and internationally. Joseph Darling, owner of The Pottery Shed, took his first pottery course in a California high school where back then they were pushing a lot of these blue-collar skills ...in school, Looking back he couldnt be more grateful as his art has turned into a lifelong hobby. Creative Corner Festival is glad to introduce you today to Anna May Kirk, participating in our event and in the art competition with her live performance "Progress" : The act of striving for progress resides in linear and cyclical notions of time. Forever rolling forwards, yet recycling continually elements of the past, in order for this push to occur. Through requesting members of the public, through advertisement, to send in (via email) and subseque...ntly delete unrealised artworks and drafts, emotions of catharsis in the name of progress are produced on a primary audience level. These documents are then presented to the second audience, encouraging them to select, read, discuss, ponder and subsequently shred these ideas. Thus the cycle of material intellectual property is paradoxically forwarded and destroyed. Within this act of destruction, the paper shredding remains, growing taller as each hour the shredder is systematically emptied. Catharsis and loss in the face of material destruction is seen to perpetuate the linear and cyclical movement towards intellectual progress, evoking discussion of the past and the future of intellectual property.
