18.01.2022 Message from Darlo Theatre Company The impact of COVID-19 has created an unprecedented and challenging operating environment for all live performing arts businesses. This also required us to temporarily stand down our performers and move to a skeleton staff. This has been the most difficult decision our company has faced in its 27 year history. However, the operative word is TEMPORARILY! WE WILL BE BACK!... We have postponed our 2020 season - not cancelled it. We are doing everything we can to ensure that Darlinghurst Theatre Company exists into the future; to make sure that wonderful shows, and the incredible artists that create them, will return to the precinct, and that our singularly sensational production of A Chorus Line will be the show that re-opens DTC and the Eternity Playhouse! The moment that we have an update on our rescheduled season we will reach out to all artists, patrons, suppliers and supporters affected by our temporary closure. During this dark time, we will dream big and plan our triumphant return. To our community of artists, suppliers, patrons and hirers we know this is a terribly difficult time for all of you. The entire Darlo team stands with you; and we stand shoulder to shoulder with our industry, ready to emerge stronger on the other side. Please email us at [email protected] if you have an enquiry. This email will only be monitored on Thursdays for the foreseeable future, but rest assured, someone will get back to youit just might take a little time. Stay healthy, keep being creative and take care of each other. Yours in solidarity, Darlinghurst Theatre Company

18.01.2022 Good news from the Stage Whispers team.

14.01.2022 A message to all the Arts Theatre Cronulla community regarding COVID-19. As you are aware, the Australian Government has imposed a ban on events over a capacity of 500 people. To ensure the health and safety of our patrons, all high-touch surfaces will be disinfected before each performance. Also, we will not be servin...g biscuits at interval or an after-show supper next Friday and Saturday. NSW Health advises that if you are feeling unwell or have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, DO NOT attend the theatre. The Arts Theatre Cronulla will continue to respond to further government directives as the situation develops.

12.01.2022 Last Sunday, six wonderfully varied short plays by our stable of talented writers were performed by a mix of regular and new actors. It was a joy to be back on stage again at last! Our judge for the day was Tom Richards and his picks were: Best Actress: Charlene O’Sullivan ... Best Actor: Craig Bulmer Best Play: ‘Plan it for the Apes’ by Graham Yates The Audience votes were as follows: 1st: ‘Plan it for the Apes’ by Graham Yates (27 votes) 2nd: ‘Lady Killer from Notre Dame’ by Sue Lewington (20 votes) Equal 3rd: ‘Same Time Same Place’ by Maz Goldrick (15 votes) & ‘Talk to the Hand’ by Rod Marsden (15 votes) Congratulations to all our winners. ’Plan it for the Apes’ and ‘Lady Killer from Notre Dame’ go on to our Finals in November. Our next Crash Test Drama event will be held on Sunday, 23rd May so get writing! A request for your views from Crash Test Drama Co-ordinator, Graham Yates: Last Sunday at Crash Test we, rather unusually, had more actors than available roles. We had some feedback afterwards that it can be disappointing to turn up ready to act on the day and not get a role. The last thing we want is for Crash Test to be a discouragement for people, so we’ve been considering ways to cope with such a situation. One suggested option is to have a play on stand-by ready to be included to cope with extra actors. The problem with this is that having a larger number of plays makes it harder to get into the finals, but people may be happy to accept that variation so that actors have a greater chance of performing. Let Graham know if you have views one way or the other, so he can look at changing the structure if that’s what people want. Please email Graham Yates at [email protected] or phone him on 0423 141 949.
