25.01.2022 New ArtStreet logo - Hope you like it! Natalie Sharpe - Art

24.01.2022 Winter Magic needs new committee members and a secretary! The committee determines the overall artistic vision for the festival. We'll be starting the planning for 2020 with a renewed focus and a business plan that will guide us through the coming years. If you're keen to join the committee or want to find out about doing one of the coordinators' roles,* please come to the AGM on Monday night. *coordinators deliver the festival by organising the stalls, media, community arts projects, performance, ArtStreet, waste management and volunteer rosters.

22.01.2022 We are getting ready for next year and our first announcement is that applications for Community Arts Project Grants are now open. Community Arts Projects are a... chance for Winter Magic to incubate new arts projects in the Blue Mountains by funding organisations to work with community members to create new artistic works that relate to Winter Magic and our theme of solstice. Last year we funded projects by TOOLO - Tool Library Blue Mountains, Wagana Aboriginal Dancers, Hands Heart & Feet, Ghawazi Caravan, Fibres in the mist, Blue Mountains Flamenco, Katoomba High School - Official, Gateway Family Services, Blue Mountains Steiner School and more! This year grants will be for up to $2,000 and we particularly encourage projects that will boost our street theatre and costuming. Details are in the link it's easy to apply online. See more

21.01.2022 Hilary Sims won our ArtStreet People's Choice Award at Winter Magic 2019 and she's auctioning one of her beautiful paintings to raise funds for WIRES so they can assist some of the wildlife harmed by these fires. Click through to bid or find her on Instagram at @hilary_sims.

18.01.2022 Start getting ready for Winter Magic in the front garden! #wintermagicinmyfrontgarden

11.01.2022 Dear everyone, we had hoped that we would be able to do ArtStreet in June but it's still bit weird outside with COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing so w...e decided it would be a better idea to proceed with it in September, for the equinox. Hope to see you then! Meanwhile, artists start getting ready, and we look forward to dealing with our shopkeepers and businesses around 21 September 2020. See more

11.01.2022 Winter Magic is cancelled for 2020 but ArtStreet will go on! Please watch this space.

10.01.2022 We can't do Winter Magic this year because of COVID-19 restrictions but we hope Katoomba locals don't forget to do Winter Magic in our front yards! We really ho...pe we can put smiles on people's faces, even though we won't have the usual Winter Magic festivities in 2020. You can build anything you like, from scarecrows to installations. Just take a picture and tag us on Facebook @katoombawintermagic or Instagram @wintermagicfestival https://www.bluemountainsgazette.com.au//winter-magic-in/ {Image Brian Yap, 2006} See more

05.01.2022 Winter Magic needs a new president and some new committee members so get along to our AGM (online) this Monday night x

05.01.2022 We are sorry to say that the uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions means we are unable to commit to ArtStreet in 2020. See you in 2021?

03.01.2022 Get along to see this great show at the BMCC featuring Wendy Sharpe, Bernard Ollis, Anne Smith and Ian Smith. http://bluemountainsculturalcentre.com.au//connections-ar/

02.01.2022 One of our favourite partnerships is with the Rural Fire Service their volunteers make Winter Magic work on the day! As we all know they are doing an amazing job of keeping our communities safe during this horrendous fire season so big group of folks (all of whom played at the 2019 Winter Magic Festival) have put together this benefit gig to say thank you and provide them with funds they need to keep safe and well while they protect us. So please, come along, donate as much as you can, sing some carols, and send our firies good vibes for the festive season.

01.01.2022 WE HAVE A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT *drumroll* ... The theme for Winter Magic 2020 is REGENERATION and our theme colour is dark green, with burnt orange and sky blue hi...ghlights. We have chosen the word 'Regeneration' to represent our community's survival and our capacity for change and adaptation as we emerge from our Blue Mountains of summer of terrifying bushfires and choking smoke, which only ended with a deluge. On the eve of the Winter Solstice on 20 June 2020 we will come together to celebrate our community and its creativity and diversity. Our festival will be on the same footprint as last year, with no grand parade, but with a variety of acts across multiple stages, street-based performances and entertainment and some genuine surprises on the day. We really want people to dress up so hope everyone embraces those colours of dark green, burnt orange and sky blue, in whichever combination suits them. Keep watching this space for details of what to expect on the day, and get planning your outfits.
