25.01.2022 Just one more sleep until Artwalk Freo 2019! Artwalk will be on rain, hail or shine, so get your walking shoes laced up and your brollys at the ready! Don't forget to bring your tickets or $10 per adult for entry at the door, plus some spare change to buy delicious treats baked by the local school at Studio 4. There'll even be water for your dogs, just remember your pooch bags. ... We'll be updating social media over the weekend with pics and last minute info, so make share lots of images and tag them #AWF19 and #artwalkfreo so we can share them with your fellow Artwalkers. 24.01.2022 STUDIO 4: Meet Ian de Souza! Ian de Souza is a full time practicing artist and educator with an exhibition history spanning over 33 years. His approach to his practice is highly disciplined and includes weekly figure drawing sessions and teaching commitments. Ian's Garden Studio has a life of it's own and has featured on TV and in various print publications over the years! Ian was born in West Malaysia and was educated in Singapore and Australia. He had his first watercolou...r lesson in Singapore at the age of 15 and now, at the age of 80 is currently working on ink on rice paper works for a major solo exhibition in Singapore this October. He now feels he has come full circle. Joining Ian at Artwalk Freo this year will be talented photographer, writer [and grandson!] Tom de Souza, who will soon be setting off around Australia to finish his first book. Also showing is previous Artwalk exhibitor George Howlett and George Aitken with their neon light works. 08.01.2022 STUDIO 3: Say 'Hi' to Michael Knight! Michael Knight has been a professional artist for over 20 years and is known for expressionistic portraits, landscapes and abstracts with a rich colour palette. He also dabbles in small-scale sculptures in bronze, clay and resin. Michael works from an enviable, purpose-built home studio that Artwalk Freo visitors will have full access to! He is currently working on curating an exhibition of paintings by Harald Vike and Frank Norton to b...e shown at Earlywork Gallery from 21-30 June. Alongside Michael's paintings will be the work of ceramicist Annemieke Mulders, and her intern Sari Rikken who have recently returned from the Australian Ceramics Conference in Hobart, and print-maker Harvey Mullen who is working towards an exhibition of large scale intaglio monoprints later in the year.
