19.01.2022 Mural 1 of 10 A perfect choice for this project, we are so lucky to have books at our fingertips. A special thanks to John Parra for allowing us to use his artwork, your illustrations are wonderful. Inspired by the heroic efforts of real-life librarian Luis Soriano, award-winning picture book creators Monica Brown and John Parra introduce readers to the mobile library that journeys over mountains and through valleys to bring literacy and culture to rural Colombia, and to the... children who wait for the BiblioBurro. https://johnparraart.com/ http://www.monicabrown.net/books/biblioburro.html

19.01.2022 This project was inspired by the multi-cultural families at Parramatta East Public School. Ten books were chosen very carefully and made into murals for the kids and their families to open discussions of their homeland fables and stories. Each book is stocked in the library in English and language of origin (where possible) enabling the kids and parents to come and share the story from their country, creating a community environment on the school grounds. PEPS also has multi... cultural fruit, vegetable and herb gardens upon entry. The produce can be used for special cooking classes and canteen days where everyone can experience the varied and delicious dishes our world has to offer. The project took around 8 months from start to finish, including story research, illustrator approvals and adaption of artwork to size of mural. The whole process was an absolute delight, and I feel honoured Brenda Curtis the Assistant Principal entrusted me with the task. Thank you. 12.01.2022 What a pleasure to be amongst the action at Birrong Public School. It was an enduring process with 198 lady hours, but the smiles it created was totally self-satisfying. Loved the morning communal Lebanese coffee shared with the great staff. Will miss the inquisitive children who visited me everyday to supervise my progress, share their jokes and give me their latest book reviews. Thank you for having me Birrong PS.

08.01.2022 Mural 2 of 10 Ibong Adarna. The story revolves around the life of King Fernando, Queen Valeriana and their three sons, Princes Pedro, Diego, and Juan. The three princes vie for the throne and kingship, and are trained in sword fighting and combat. The most courageous would inherit the throne. The story is commonly attributed to the Tagalog poet José de la Cruz or "Huseng Sisiw"; however, he has not been proven to be the actual author. The poem forms part of the curriculum for Junior High School students as well as those in Grade 7 in the Philippines.
