25.01.2022 Ever wondered how flashing or gutters are made? First, we measure up and draw a profile view of what exactly we need for the project. We then send this to our manufacturer who cuts a sheet to size, plugs in our dimensions into their bending machine and then Voilà. Take a gander at our video below to see the process. ... www.arvcorp.com.au #Sydneybuilder #Customflashing #Brisbanebuilder
24.01.2022 Post 3: Take a look at these beams! From our trip one thing we noticed was that the ancient Egyptians had a working understanding of engineering and the use of beams and columns (as well as the construction techniques needed to implement the designs). www.arvcorp.com.au
24.01.2022 Post 5: Lets talk Hieroglyphs. The photos attached show how the Ancient Egyptians carved out tombs in the Valley of The Kings and how they carved Hieroglyphs and images into the walls. See the steps below: 1. Carve out a long cavern into stone and level walls as best as possible. 2. Use plaster over all walls and smooth (yes, you read right, they used a type of plaster to cover all walls and ceilings similar to what we do today). 3. Draw a rough sketch of what you wish to... be carved. 4. Have your supervisor check your work and fix any errors. 5. Carve out what was marked up using negative space. 6. Colour and seal. There you have it, all you need to start construction of your very own tomb! www.arvcorp.com.au

18.01.2022 Post 1 of our Egypt travel: Starting at the front gate of the Karnak Temple (Luuxor). As soon as we saw these massive gates all we could think about is how did the ancient Egyptians lift these massive blocks over 20m high over 2000 years ago. The answer can be seen in the second photo. They used mud bricks to create large ramps alongside the structures and used the ramps to physically drag the large sandstone bricks up! (Glad to say that this is not the method we employ the...se days). www.arvcorp.com.au
18.01.2022 Lets talk retaining walls! A retaining wall is used to restrain soil at a slope that it would not naturally keep to. Most common uses are: - changes in land levels due to cutting/filling - creating freestanding garden beds... There are many different types of retaining walls and they can be made using many different materials (timber, concrete, blocks, stone, mesh etc.). The type and material which can be used will often come down to magnitude of what is being retained. www.arvcorp.com.au #Retainingwalls #Sydneybuilder #Brisbanebuilder

16.01.2022 Finished photos of the tunnel! As we said last week, definitely had a lot of fun with this one once finished although it was a challenging project With this item the main challenges were fitting a tunnel with the ends curved within an existing confined space. Due to the site constraints, were could not purchase any pre-made product, instead we hand manufactured a custom tunnel onsite. To finish it off nicely, we ramped up the entry points of the tunnel then tied in AstroT...urf and ran it through the length of the tunnel to provide a soft surface for the kids to crawl on. www.arvcorp.com.au #Tunnel #Sydneybuilder #Brisbanebuilder
16.01.2022 Nothing better than uncovering hidden gold on a Friday afternoon! To do our part during this COVID-19 outbreak, ArvCorp will gladly share our uncovered spoils.
16.01.2022 In December (before we were perfecting our social distancing technique) we took a break and went to Egypt! We wanted to share a few snaps and go through some amazing building practices seen. So stay tuned for the posts over the next week.
15.01.2022 If you have ever wondered how much difference can a good roof clean make then take a look at the photos attached. To effectively clean the roof, it was pressure cleaned and acid washed. After that, the ridge caps were re-pointed to finish off the 'as good as new' look. Remember, safety is always the main priority, do not attempt to do this type of work yourself. Please always use professionals.... www.arvcorp.com.au #Roofcleaning #Sydneybuilder #Brisbanebuilder

13.01.2022 For our last post about Ancient Egypt lets talk Pyramids! How did the massive 147m high Pyramid of Giza come to be? Was it time travel? Aliens? Or just a marvel of engineering with a massive workforce? (Hint, we believe it was the latter). The truth is, nobody knows with complete certainty how they were built but it is believed that ramps were used to drag the stones (each weighing about 2-3 tonne. The sand in front of the sleds used may also have been damped with water to ...reduce the friction. Hope the past few points have taught you a thing or two about Ancient construction. www.arvcorp.com.au
10.01.2022 We usually have a lot of fun whilst working, but definitely have to say that building a 5m long tunnel (and testing it out) is on the funner side of the job! Tunnel is not even finished yet but the daycare staff and ourselves couldn't help but to test it out. www.arvcorp.com.au ... #Daycare #Sydneybuilder #Brisbanebuilder #Workhardplayhard See more
08.01.2022 Post 2: The next item that wowed us, was how they constructed the columns at the Karnak Temple. In the second photo you can see on the far right hand side an unfinished column. The Ancient Egyptians would roughly cut sections of the column, stack them on-top of each other (with a layer of some type of cement substance in between we assume) and then carve and smooth the stones to form the shape. They would then decorate the columns as desired. Some of the columns we saw were... circa 21m high and over 3m in diameter! www.arvcorp.com.au
04.01.2022 Post 4: This is the Obelisk of Hatsheput. What's so special about this? Well, it was built in 1457BC, made from one single piece of granite, stands 28m high and weighs 343 tons! Even more amazing, we were told that the structure was erected without a foundation in place and that it only goes 1.6m deep into the ground! Meaning, we do not know how exactly this structure has remained standing all these years. To add even more mystery, under the Obelisk lies a statue of Neferho...tep. The statue has been left under the Obelisk for fear that it could have something to do with supporting the structure (or so we were told). Read more about how they may have erected the Obelisk by following this link: https://www.thegreatcoursesdaily.com/erecting-an-obelisk/ www.arvcorp.com.au
04.01.2022 A shade sail is a great way to get best use of your outside areas. Shade sails offer a great source of sun shade, UV protection and even water protection if you opt for a water resistant fabric. On our Childcare project we have installed 2 sails to keep the kids well protected while playing outdoors. www.arvcorp.com.au ... #Shadesail #Sydneybuilder #BrisbaneBuilder See more
03.01.2022 Lets lay some AstroTurf. Progress shots shown below (Sneak peak at the tunnel we have been working on too, but we will go more into that later). www.arvcorp.com.au #Childcare #Sydneybuilder #Brisbanebuilder #AstroTurf
