24.01.2022 Organiser of Nordic Islands Adventure Race, Staffan Björklund, has made it his mission to create courses that pass through some of the best parts of the Nordic region and help fuse the world together by bringing likeminded people to the race. UK ARWS Qualifier, Itera Expedition Race, will have teams racing through Scotland over five days in August 2021. With a distance of over 600km for the full event it will be a big challenge to all the top teams, but one that should be achievable for ALL. 17.01.2022 2020 AR World Championship Paraguay Cancelled due to COVID-19 The AR World Series and championship hosts Expedición Guaraní announce that due to the COVID-19 restrictions in Paraguay, and the extensive impacts of the virus around the world, the 2020 AR World Championship scheduled for this September has been cancelled. Event Director Gustavo Borgognon said "It is a crushing decision to make. We have followed the COVID situation closely and made every effort we could to allow... the event to proceed. Sadly with Paraguay closed for some time, and international flights uncertain all around the world, there was no other option for us." ARWS - Adventure Racing World Series Director Craig Bycroft said "Gustavo and his team have been working on the championship now for almost 2 years and it is a huge disappointment for them, the athletes, and all of us involved. I know the efforts everyone has made and how spectacular this championship would have been. Next year's championship location has already been secured and will be announced shortly. However, Paraguay will be a brilliant host and a worthy championship that we don't want to miss, so we are now working with Expedición Guaraní to move their championship plans to the following year in 2022." Teams who won a qualification spot to Paraguay 2020 will still retain their spots and have these transferred to Paraguay 2022. All teams entered into the championship, including the general entry and wild card teams, will be contacted soon by the Expedición Guaraní team to make arrangements. 05.01.2022 The AR World Series (ARWS) announces the launch of its regional series of adventure races throughout Asia. First races are scheduled for next year in a number of countries in the region. Adventure Racing teams will compete non-stop over 125km courses of mountain biking, kayaking, trekking, and navigation. A calendar of shorter introductory adventure races over 3-6 hours is also being rolled out. Brandon Chee is the Race Director of the ARWS World Championship Qualifier ra...ce in Malaysia and has been appointed the Series Director for Asia. He will coordinate and bring together the adventure racing calendar and series throughout the Asia region. International ARWS Director Craig Bycroft said We congratulate and welcome Brandon to this appointment and are looking forward to an exciting development of adventure racing through Asia. Brandon has over 20 years of experience in the outdoor adventure field, through conducting outdoor education workshops & expedition events. He is a great choice to bring the one day and overnight adventure races to Asia.
