15.01.2022 Hello Interwebs Allow me to tell you a tale of woe, I’ll set the scene. A young Locksmith drops his girlfriend home after a night out at a fantastic restaurant and steps inside briefly, as he gives her a goodbye hug standing in the door of his van another car trundles down the narrow street causing him and his girlfriend to step aside and close the door.... The car moves past. A pause, then a groan He cradles his head in his hands, a smirk at his own misfortune on his face. His girlfriend asks what’s wrong. It’s quite difficult to lock ones keys in a modern car, there are heaps of features to make this more difficult, every other door sensor works on my car, if you unlock it and then open the door the car recognises that you have entered the car otherwise it gives you a minute and then locks again, but alas, not the driver’s door, the drives door sensor is broken. The keys sit, pride of place in the ignition happily awaiting their owner who is a mere impenetrable foot away. Naturally there is a way to improvise your way out of this, yes? Maybe? The locksmith with the assistance of his girlfriend’s dad proceed to make of a door wedge and a wire to try and press the unlock button on the keys themselves, for you see the car in all of it’s security glory, lock all of the interior handles and disables the unlock button when it has been locked with the remote. We got it, numerous times, the wire would sit on the button and slide off because it didn’t have the force to actually depress it, Failure. Initiate plan B. Borrow a car and drive to work (30 minutes away) break into work or bang on door loud enough to wake a understandably grumpy boss to get the spare key then travel back (30 minutes, did I mention that?) By the plan B stage it was 00 30 am with a 06 45 am wake up time. Annoying drive and two spare keys later (in case I grabbed the wrong one) and I get back in the car to then drive the 30 minutes to let the lady in who has been locked out since plan B was initiated. People like me are the reason why I have a job.
