20.01.2022 Creamy oil can only mean one thing and thats water!! Luckily we noticed a discolouration and damage too the driveshaft seals. Without annual servicing its very hard to be aware of such things happening! New seals, pump, gaskets, propshaft inspection and Mercury performance gear oil installed and good to go!! #ASAPMARINE #mercuryracing #marinemechanic #

18.01.2022 Another pre purchase inspection done, this time for Nat who was looking too upgrade! F200 Yamaha on a fibreglass mustang walk around, great combo! I noticed a few small issues which all add up ($$). Not the surprise bill you want after purchasing a boat! Matts trailcraft has seen many summers on the water, the 90 merc has proven itself over the years! 14.01.2022 Matts new purchase needed a quick freshen up! Unfortunately for him, his first voyage was ruined by a shifting issue. With no service history we suspected the service repairs in the past werent done by the professionals!! We managed too resolve the issue & give the big f200 yam a birthday, new oils, filters, plugs and a quick steering bleed. 13.01.2022 Beautiful day too work outdoors today starting with a pre purchase inspection for Cam. He lives in Sydney and needed some reassurance on this awsome rib! The 140hp Suzuki got the full check over as did the boat and trailer with no majors! The big girl is off too Sydney tomorrow ready to charter some new waters!! Kriso had some issues with the little 15hp misfiring and stalling! The timing and idle settings were well and truely out, causing starting issues, stalling and shifting problems! Compression check, Carby clean, fuel pump check, reset factory carb and timing settings, rev test and ready for Exmouth on the weekend!! #asapmarine #suzukimarine #suzukioutboards #evinrude #marinemechanic #satisfied

13.01.2022 Apart from regular maintenance and servicing, the next best way to maximise efficiency for your boat is choosing the correct prop for your application!! A few simple questions too ask yourself. what kind of boating are you doing? Fishing, skiing, cruising, racing? Bare in mind running stainless props around reef is very risky as any minor impact can destroy your gearbox internally. ( always a good idea to run ally if always in shallow reefs, the prop may get damaged but at le...ast it gives the gearbox a chance) Is your boat fully loaded? If so how does it go getting on the plain? If it struggles with your regular load you may want to consider a smaller prop or even a combination of hydrofoil and a prop? Is your motor hitting full rpm without hitting rev limiter? Specifically for people that dont have a fully loaded boat and like a bit of pace through the day! A small and simple rough gauge too rpm and prop size 200-250rpm between prop size ie Same boat and motor 15inch 3 blade revs out at 5000 16inch 3blade revs out at 4800 This in most cases would be a bad choice, a motor that revs too 5200 should rev too 5200 for maximum efficiency, so too do so you would go down a pitch size too a 14inch 3 blade! Bare in mind if you start adding blades and blade lengths the numbers and equations start changing! Generally, smaller prop = acceleration but less top speed Bigger prop = less acceleration but higher top speed I hope this basic explanation helps! A full boat, trailer and motor inspection and a write up not only will save you buying a lemon but give you some peace of mind! Efi has been around a long time, with emissions laws these days fuel injection is the answer for most brands! With awsome plug and play technology so readily available it would be silly to not take advantage of it!! ASAP MARINE will have plug in software within the next month or so for Mercury and Yamaha efi outboards!! 10.01.2022 Dirty fuel in dans 50 yam had it misfiring and stalling! 3 for 3 carbies full of old dirty fuel, cleaned, idle set and resyncro like new again!

09.01.2022 Another job from a recommendation, much appreciated! Terry has had starting issues with his 25hp merc for a while and was fed up with the 30 pull start reps each time on the ramp! Had a look and found the start primer system wasnt working and the fuel system dirty due too a perished fuel line! Along with that we replaced plugs (compression check while we were there) water pump and all required gaskets!
