Non-Friable Asbestos Non-Friable asbestos (also known as bonded asbestos) is referred to asbestos-containing materials in which the asbestos minerals are firmly bound in the matrix of the material. If undisturbed, these materials are unlikely to release measurable levels of asbestos fibers into airborne environment, generally leaving a lower risk to health. Bonded asbestos is quite rigid and solid. Being mainly made up of a bonding compound, (such as cement) these fibers are tightly bound into the material. These asbestos-containing materials are most commonly in domestic houses and are commonly called fibro asbestos cement and AC sheeting. Health Risks Caused By Asbestos Minerals Medical evidence supports the fact that simply living or working in a building containing asbestos is not dangerous if the asbestos is undamaged. When asbestos is disturbed and asbestos fibers are released, it becomes at high risk and increases chances of developing an asbestos related disease.
