24.01.2022 Yaaay - we will have some friends back in the building HBF Stadium HBF Stadium Gym

23.01.2022 At Ascend we are bringing in measures to help protect our patients and staff during the current Coronavirus spread (and upcoming flu season). We see a large number of elderly clients and immunocompromised clients so these measures are part of us playing a role in the health-care environment to try and minimise the spread and decrease the load on the hospital system. As a precaution, if you have travelled or transited within the last 14 days and you are showing any of the fol...lowing symptoms or have come in contact with someone who is infected we ask that you please do not attend the clinic, call and discuss your symptoms with your doctor first and reschedule your appointment with us. The exciting part is that we are more than happy to provide consultations over the phone/skype if you call the clinic on 9387 2699. Thank you for your understanding.

22.01.2022 The Trophy Has Arrived Players and staff got up close with the 2020 Championship Trophy and were presented with their Championship Rings yesterday Amazingly, this is ring number 9 for our physio Dave, having worked with 3 Championship teams in Sydney and with a whopping 6 at the Cats. Dave has an incredible strike rate, having worked with the 9 Championship teams in just 18 years! While Dave is the first to say that he has been lucky to have had the opportunity to work w...ith the best coaches and players, in the best basketball programs in the country, we think he is just being modest!! A great physio is a key part of a great team Congrats to the @perthwildcats and to Dave! Dave is available for treatment at Ascend- if you ask nicely he might even show you some of his new hardware Call 9387 2699 for an appointment. See more

21.01.2022 Back 2 Back Champions Congratulations to our Perth Wildcats

21.01.2022 As WA starts to come out of hibernation we thought wed let you know what the team at Ascend are up to. The physiotherapists are all back at work as per normal (and can also do telehealth appointments for those who are still keeping their distance) and have started to help prep athletes for return to sport. Our massage therapists Verity and Max are both back in at the clinic and looking forward to easing all of those sore necks and backs from home office set-ups. Sim...one our dietitian from Nutrition Works is back in the clinic this week providing face to face and telehealth appointments. Dr Carmel Goodman and Dr Jonothan Charlesworth (Sports Doctors) have been providing telehealth appointments and we are hoping to have them back in the clinic for face to face appointments over the next couple of weeks. Dr Ross Radic (Orthopaedic surgeon) had his first full list of operating last week and will be consulting out of Ascend every second Thursday for anyone that needs an orthopaedic review. With the easing of restrictions our exercise physiologists can start to run classes again both outside the clinic on the lawn and inside the clinic whilst maintaining appropriate social distancing. If you have taken part in the past or if youd like some help with safely exercising before gyms re-open they are here to help Mindy and Sandy our psychologists are available for consultations, whether its assistance with regaining structure in your life following lockdown or assistance with achieving your goals on the sporting field, these two have many years of experience and advice between them. Lastly but most importantly Pin and Vicky our receptionists are here Monday to Friday to answer your calls and help with any issues. The stadium may still be shut (Its okay we pop up and let everyone in which also assists with maintaining strict hygiene procedures) but were all here and ready to help you. Feel free to give the clinic a call on 9387 2699 to have a chat to our friendly staff about how we can help. See more

21.01.2022 Theres a lot of talk these days about conservative vs surgical management for knee injuries. Simon (The one up in the air) completely ruptured his ACL last season playing rugby and made the decision (With the support of his surgeon and physio) to manage it without surgery. There is a time and place for surgery and for conservative management of most injuries and it is a case by case decision that is best decided in a collaborative way. A massive well done to Simon who was so dedicated with his rehabilitation that he has returned to a high speed, cutting and very definitely contact sport successfully without needing surgery.

20.01.2022 URGENT UPDATE With clarification coming from the APA; given the current Perth, Peel and Southwest lockdown guidelines, private physiotherapy clinics are unable to provide face to face consultations. This means we won’t be able to see you in the clinic. However for those that are wanting any advice or rehab progressions we are available via Telehealth. ... For those with appointments already scheduled this week, we will be in contact soon. As always, the situation is evolving, so keep your eyes peeled for when we are back! In the mean time, stay well and follow the rules

20.01.2022 Way to go Ruby

18.01.2022 Thanks for the challenge @evpphysio . The Y-balance test is one of the tools we use (in a cluster of tests) for deciding if someone is ready to return to sport. A composite score for each leg is taken and averaged, this is then divided by the individuals leg length. A score <94% suggests you may be more likely to sustain a lower limb injury .... Some work ons for Bry perhaps! What elements might be holding her back? #prayforbry #prayforclare #intercliniccomp #notcompetetiveatall #anklerange #ultimatechallenge See more

16.01.2022 Well theres been just about as much rain as tennis this week at the State Tennis Centre for the Perth International 2 but its not a bad spot to have an office for a week.

16.01.2022 What a week we have had WA! You, the WA community have banded together through fires, floods and lockdown, to support each other as one big mask wearing, physic...al distancing family. Now that the fires are out, and the floods are starting to recede the long road to recovery begins. We have been incredibly humbled by the volume of people wishing to help emergency services personnel and members of the community impacted by the Wooroloo bushfire. These generous offers of time and donations show how truly compassionate Western Australians are. Here’s what has been set up to help those affected and how you can continue to support them: Disaster Relief If you have been affected by the current Wooroloo Bushfire, welfare support assistance may be available via the Department of Communities. Call the Disaster Response Hotline on 1800 032 965, which operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. You can also call the dedicated Bushfire Recovery Line, provided by Lifeline. Call 13 43 57 to speak to someone. Wooroloo Bushfire Community Recovery Centre - Gidge One Stop Percy Cullen Oval and Building has been established for the Wooroloo Bushfire Community Recovery Centre. The Australian Red Cross - Emergency Services Western Australia, Western Power and home insurance companies are there to assist as well as providing basic supplies such as food, toiletries, nappies etc. Information and support on recovering from a bushfire www.dfes.wa.gov.au/bushfire/recovery Where can I donate to those affected? One of the most helpful things you can do is donate to the Lord Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund https://appealswa.org.au/current-appeals/ How can I volunteer my time? For those wanting to volunteer Volunteering WA have set up two registration points. 14.01.2022 We are open, and boasting some important changes At Ascend we are committed to continuing to provide for our patients and community. We need to remember to continue to support small businesses - like us and work together in these challenging times ... The health and safety of our patients and staff is our number one priority. We are no longer using cloth covers or towels over the beds, using antibacterial wipes after each patient, we have spread the waiting room out, and are cleaning all exercise equipment after each use. We ask all patients to use hand sanitiser on arrival and bring a towel to any exercise classes. If you are unwell or have been overseas in the last 14 days, please dont come into the clinic In good news, we are currently working on providing a Telehealth option for our patients (online consultation). You will be surprised at what you can achieve via video call assessment/diagnosis/exercise prescription and self-management advice just to list a few! If you are currently unwell or stuck in isolation consider rescheduling to a telehealth consult instead Exercise should not be avoided and can help manage your mental and physical health through these times. Exercise is medicine after all! Our small group exercise classes can be a great, low risk way to stay fit. Or alternatively our EPs also offer 1 on 1 sessions Lastly, if theres anything you need, please do not hesitate to get in touch! Call us on 9387 2699 or email through on [email protected]. You can also book online at www.ascendphysio.com.au Yours in health, The Ascend Team
