19.01.2022 First let us explain the two different terms. Tilt panel construction and/or precast panel construction for warehouses often get confused as the same thing, but are actually two very different styles of construction methodology. Whilst you may be familiar with the obvious advantages of concrete panel building, the methodology of construction can have benefits that differ from project to project. Precast panel construction consists of large concrete wall panels being man...ufactured in an offsite factory and then transported to site. This has the benefit of reducing the construction schedule with the panels being made whilst earthworks and foundations are being constructed. However, in some circumstances there may be large transport costs to the final budget. As an alternative, tilt-panel construction consists of the panels being poured directly onto the warehouse slab or a separate casting slab, then being craned into position onsite. This saves on transport, but with an increase to the construction schedule. With advancements in technology such as laser screed concrete placement and precision set out equipment, tilt-panel construction is now closer than ever to matching the precision achieved in precast manufacturing.
