24.01.2022 37-year-old Korean man Yun-Seob Shin () had been working at a cafe in Alice Springs for seven weeks but didn't turn up for a shift on Saturday morning. On Thursday, he had told colleagues about his plans to camp at Finke Gorge National Park, 140 kilometres west of Alice Springs. However, his car became bogged in a dry riverbed close to his destination with temperatures hitting 45C, he ran out of water and his body was found by search and rescue helicopter on Sunday mornin...g. Cafe manager Kelly Edwards said that Mr Shin had changed the cafe since he began working there. "His energy, his fun-loving energy, always playing fun music, the atmosphere was just so completely different with him there, it's just so sad," she said. "He's just touched everyone, he's such a special person, it's just so tragic. Everyone is shattered." The 37-year-old had come to Australia from South Korea seven years ago and had been in Alice Springs for seven weeks after previously living in Victoria. Air and land teams began searching for the man on Saturday afternoon using a Google maps route Mr Shin gave to his colleagues, but rescue operations quickly ran out of daylight. The next morning, the helicopter left at 6:00am and by 8:10am they reported finding the vehicle and a man's body nearby. It's an unusual route but it's the one Google maps identified for him to take. The man was driving an all-wheel-drive White Nissan X-Trail which was not a suitable vehicle to make his trip there as it was not 4WD. The route to Boggy Hole is a notoriously challenging four-wheel-drive track that includes stretches through the Finke River bed. It was important that people hoping to camp in remote areas speak to people with local knowledge about their destinations. Speak to a few locals that might have an idea of it and if needed source a four-wheel drive. Make sure your preparations are right, make sure that you carry plenty of water, excess water and equipment to get you out of a bog if you do get stuck. A report on Mr Shin's death will be prepared for the coroner.

20.01.2022 Feeling hot this weekend? Blame it on Western Australia. Due to being full of hot air, when Western Australia opened their borders, it caused blistering desert heat to be dragged from north-west Western Australia down across Central Australia headed for N.S.W. and Victoria. Baking heat from north-west Australia will push towards the south with a round of heat arriving in Central Australia over the weekend and arriving in South Australia tomorrow and into N.S.W. and Victoria at the beginning of next week.

19.01.2022 Angry residents at boiling point over the crime wave that has many feeling trapped in their own homes demanded answers about the young criminals responsible for the break-ins that have many living in fear and taken others to breaking point. Can we shoot them? Can we use our firearms if we fear for our lives? What is a reasonable force to protect our families?... Northern Territory Police urged residents to read section 29 of the Northern Territory Criminal Code. 18.01.2022 A video that shows a male being punched and kicked in the head in the middle of an Alice Springs street while young people cheer is being described by residents and political leaders as the latest example in a long series of troubling crime issues that aren’t being addressed in the town. The video was shot on Saturday night around 11:00 pm on Todd Street and shows a large group of young people in the street as traffic stops and a male is repeatedly assaulted. CLP Member for B...raitling Josh Burgoyne said the video was disturbing and could only be described as gang violence. The damage crime is doing to Alice Springs’ reputation could be irrecoverable, Mr Burgoyne said. We cannot dream about making our town the thriving hub it once was if youth crime continues and no action is taken. People think twice before heading out at night. People think twice before going to the shops. We cannot go on like this. Mr Burgoyne called on Chief Minister Michael Gunner to toughen bail laws and enact reforms previously promised by the government. The changes we need on bail are in addition to Government’s commitments from June, he said. They should implement their promised community work program as soon as possible. We must get on top of this crisis. Chief Minister Mr Gunner said he has put more consequences in place and that everyone is working extremely hard on this. Mr Gunner pointed to ring leader legislation which is yet to pass Parliament and a new cattle station being used as a youth diversion work program. We are trying different things. There must be a consequence, it must be a deterrent and it must break the cycle, he said. But independent Member for Araluen Robyn Lambley said a youth curfew must be trialled, she said. These children are as much a danger to themselves as others. A civilised society must protect its children. We are not protecting anyone in Alice Springs at the moment, despite the best efforts of the police and the child statutory authorities. The video comes as the government recently extended the hours of a youth drop-in centre in Alice Springs to operate 24 hours for Friday and Saturday nights in an effort to get kids off the street. The facility is fitted out with video games, couches, table tennis and a drum kit. It seems to me it could encourage young people who could go home not to go home because there’s something to do all night. I don’t think it should be a space where there are gaming and television and other things to stimulate them. The 24-hour stimulation is what bothers me.

06.01.2022 According to research, the 17th December is the busiest mailing day of the year. It anticipates handling millions of Christmas holiday cards, letters and packages . Collecting parcels between the 17th December ~ 10th January will see the longest lines outside the Post Office. It’s that time of year when an extraordinary amount of cards, packages and letters will be sent through the mail system, a fact that could mean longer lines at local post offices and frayed nerves on ...either side of the counters. If you have an important document to mail and want it delivered FAST, avoid the hassle of long lines and send your important document before the 17th December. Expect a very long wait if collecting a parcel.

NOTE: Alice Springs Mparntwe Tjoritja Forum does not recommend eating McDonald's, as eating McDonald's will make you susceptible to diabetes and insulin resistance. A Quarter Pounder with Cheese Bacon has 14 grams of saturated fat, and 1.5 grams of trans fat. The Big Mac has a 10 grams of saturated fat and 1 gram of trans fat. Clearly, not great.
