24.01.2022 Sorting objects into different categories is a great activity that allows children to build their visual perception, thinking skills, coordination, concentration and further develop their fine motor control. Of late, our Pre-Kindy friends have been very interested in sorting different items into categories based on their colour, size, shape or type.
24.01.2022 Looking at ways to give back? The walk for womens cancers is on soon and free entry is available now.
24.01.2022 Learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures allows children to develop respect for diversity and understanding of the different cultures we have here in our back yard. Indigenous day was last week which sparked an interest in our Kindergarten children. Miss Chloe and the children watched stories from the Dream Time and had group discussions surrounding the Indigenous culture. We can not wait to explore more!
24.01.2022 In the Pre-Kindy room our friends have been showing a lot of interest in writing their names and letters, to extend on this Miss Amy organised a Pre-writing activity that allowed the children either write their name with chalk or seek assistance from Miss Amy and then are invited to trace over the top of their names using a paint brush and water to make it disappear!
24.01.2022 The kindergarten room has just recently introduced an exciting new program for children to explore and investigate the Japanese language by starting the ELLA program, it is a useful tool which uses polyglot apps on the iPad to delve deeper into the language. Cultural competency embeds a sense of belonging to the world around us. Learning about each others cultures as well as investigating aspects and traditions as well as learning a new language is all part of how children explore and make meaning of the world around them.
23.01.2022 Each day this week we will have scrumptious home made baked goods here at the front desk. Come down and grab yourself some yummy goodies. All proceeds go to the Cancer Council
23.01.2022 Weve had a menu update for the beginning of the warmer seasons! Chef Katie has whipped up homemade burgers and homemade chips for lunch today. The children were all very eager to dig into lunch today. WOW, I love burgers and chippies the children said as they served up their own food. Keep an eye out on all the new foods.... Thank you Chef Katie - it was delicious See more
23.01.2022 Be all you can be in whatever you choose to do. The sky is the limit, so go for it. - Nick Saban
22.01.2022 Today in the Kindergarten room we welcomed Angela from Hamilton library. The children greeted Angela with a warm welcome and were happy to see her back after a few months break due to COVID. Having Angela come and read books with the Kindergarten children was such a highlight. Children thrive in an environment of mutually supportive and caring relationships. For this reason developing a sense of community within a service is crucial.
22.01.2022 Busy boards are a great way to assist children in learning about the world around them through experimentation and manipulation. Learning to use everyday objects assists children in developing their fine motor control and allows them to develop problem solving skills. In the Nursery room Miss Rachael has built and installed a busy board for our friends to explore and as you can see, they are loving it!
21.01.2022 When exploring the outdoor environment today, our Kindergarten children stopped to smell their beautiful sunflower when they noticed a stunning ladybug. You know what they say when a ladybug lands on you. The appearance of Ladybug symbolism a time of good luck. It means that wishes and dreams are coming to fruition. Higher goals and new heights are now possible. Before we noticed our ladybug friend, we already saw such an amazing future for all of our children, families and Educators here at Ascot Childcare and Kindy. But now, even more so!
21.01.2022 Just passing time watching our plants grow Educating children on the importance of caring for our environment and helping them understand the impact human activity can have on environments and the interdependence of living things is an embedded practice here at Ascot Child Care and Kindy.
19.01.2022 Congratulations to Sarah and her husband Brenton on their marriage. Sarah and Brenton tied the knot at the Novotel on the Sunshine Coast. You both make a stunning couple. We hope your day was amazing. Enjoy your honeymoon, see you in 2 weeks
19.01.2022 Now that the days are getting hotter, our Chef Katie has been getting creative with her meals. On Friday, the children enjoyed yummy frozen yoghurt ice blocks! What a yummy treat.
19.01.2022 Love & respect for the natural environment starts young.
19.01.2022 Our Toddler friends absolutely love the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar! To extend on their interest in the book our Toddler Educators invited our friends to take part in making Fruit stamp paintings! Not only does this experience allow children to work on their fine motor control and creatively express themselves, it also encourages them to explore their senses through sight, smell and touch.
19.01.2022 Gardening can benefit children of all ages as it provides a great opportunity for children to learn, and equips them with critical skills which can help them in other areas of their lives. Sensory Exploration, Responsibility, Motor Skill Development are just a few skills that gardening enhances. Look at our proud Kindergarten children are of their efforts with the vegetable garden. Miss Chloe and the children have been taking care of the vegetable gardens every single day. Watering them and removing any bugs and showing them love. We are very proud that the home grown vegetables were used throughout the week with Chef Katie’s cooking.

19.01.2022 Our Kindergarten children investigated new natural paints that had been provided outside. The Kindergarten children were all very eager to start investigating. Using their sense of smell, they smelt the paint as they made their creations and tried to guess what the paint was made from. "This smells like coffee" - D "I think the pink smells like beetroot" - A

17.01.2022 Writing stories allows children to find a voice to express thoughts, feelings, fears, and experiences. It builds confidence and provides an emotional outlet for many children. The Kindergarten children have been busy creating their very own stories. Both written and illustrated by the children themselves. It’s been such an amazing journey watching the children put so much thought into their stories. We can not wait to see the finished product.
17.01.2022 From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank all the amazing families and staff who have donated to the cancer council this week. 17.01.2022 If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to trust, share their feelings and grow. - Alfie Kohn Out in the playground our Kindergarten friends realised their colourful foam block creation looked like stairs, with lots of encouragement from one another and trust in their abilities they over came their fear of the ‘squishy and slippery’ stairs. A few of our curious Toddler and Pre-Kindy friends had been watching on from the side line and once they saw their big friends were able to complete the task, they were eager to give it a go too.
16.01.2022 In adhering to Ascots policy, on Thursday we practiced an emergency drill. We perform these drills every month to ensure children and educators are well practiced in the required procedures to ensure as far as possible the safety and wellbeing of each person present. We encourage you to talk to your child about what it is they did today and why these drills are important. The children loved this opportunity to go outside the centre and check out our new neighbours.
16.01.2022 Painting can help your children communicate their emotions or feelings. Through the use of different colours, they can express themselves without the use of words. Painting aids your child develop mobility skills. Their hand muscles are being used, which allows them a scope to develop both mentally and physically. This spontaneous art experience allowed the children to paint in a group setting. The Pre-Kindergarten children utilised this experience to express themselves through painting and also verbally by having conversations with their peers.
15.01.2022 More and more parents are asking if it is good for children to have access to technology and screen media in their early years. Recent studies show that active (or interactive) technology and screen time can actually help develop and improve your kiddies learning when used appropriately. Click on the link below which goes into more detail as to how technology is benefiting our children. https://www.google.com.au//10-benefits-of-exposing-yo/amp/

14.01.2022 R U OK? Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I dont think I do." "Thats okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often dont feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know youve got someone there for you. And Ill always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Who is your piglet?
14.01.2022 Not sure whether your child is ready for school? Check out this encouragement from Maggie Dent. https://parenttv.acemlnb.com/lt.php
13.01.2022 Trains develop fine motor skills as a child grips, pushes, pulls, rolls, and connects trains and tracks together. Our Toddler children have fallen in love with their brand new train tracks. They spend so much time both independently and together as a group exploring the train tracks. The fact that two children could each have their own trains but use the same track, each enacting different stories with little to no interaction with each other is great for the childrens development.
12.01.2022 Community Library Over the last few weeks, Lauren’s Dad, Neil has been very busy creating our very own community library using all recycled materials. What is a community library you say? A community Library invites our neighbours to share the joys of reading and create lasting connections inside your community. We invite our community to come and borrow a story or to also donate to our library with some old stories that you think our community would love. A big shout out to Lauren’s Mum, Ann who also donated some stories for both our younger generation and for the older generation as well. Without Neil and Ann, we wouldn’t have our vision come to life. We hope you all enjoy our community library as much as we do. Happy reading
11.01.2022 Last night our Kindergarten Teacher Miss Jane hosted an information night for our 2021 Kindergarten Program. 02.01.2022 We have been beyond lucky to purchase an amazing piece of art from a local artist. This art piece hangs proudly in our foyer. Here is a little blurb about the amazing artist. Hi! my name is Jhane, myself and my family are from the Torres Strait Islands, my tribes are from Meriam Mir Samsep and Peirdu from Egriu Village, Erub (Darnley Island) and Waiben (Thursday Island). ... The Torres Strait is the body of water between Australia and Papua New Guinea, just off the tip of Cape York. This area is divided into five major island clusters, this also includes the five aboriginal and islander communities on northern peninsula of Cape York. My artwork is a blend of contemporary and indigenous styles with a lot of bright colours, and some that will tell a story. Indigenous people have been using their art, to carry on stories from our elders, and like myself, to make sure our culture doesnt fade out. By creating my art pieces, I hope it sparks conversations within your home and with your families about the tradition custodians of this land. Jhan Morrison Come see Lauren in the office for details on purchasing your own art piece.
