19.01.2022 Very interesting what Swimming Ireland are doing. I would like to see tech suits banned for swimmers below the age of 15

06.01.2022 Strange Times for all Nationals cancelled, pools closed, jobs lost, self isolation. A difficult time for our swimmers. The important thing is that they are in the same boat as their mainland counterparts. Mentally they will worry about not being able to train and they will miss the social contact with their squad mates. As coaches we need to encourage them to remain active and keep in regular contact with their squad mates. Social media these days is great for this. As swimmi...ng is a technique driven sport an enforced break will not mean a drop in technique. Discussion at last weeks Victorian Flippers group centred around job losses, insurance coverage when prescribing Dry Land workouts and current situations. Some Victorian Clubs have gone in to early recess while others are using "Zoom" for Dry Land workouts which is what LAC is introducing. With regard to Insurance I have pasted below a post from Brendon Ward ASCTA CEO Brendon Ward 14 hrs Hi everyone... just a quick reminder that: All accredited coaches that are engaging their athletes remotely need to ensure they are a current member of ASCTA, Registered with a member club, have appropriate insurance coverage (professional indemnity and public liability insurance) and have a current safe sport card. Regards, Brendon Ward Keep healthy and stay positive. Tassie could well be the first State out of the current mess. Tonk

02.01.2022 Nationals cancelled, Swimming Tasmania Events cancelled. If community transfers of the virus commences we can expect pool closures to become a consideration. Hard times for all sports.
