09.01.2022 WOW! We got to observe more than 6 #wedgetailedeagle right behind our hostel the other day ... . Those majestic raptors are Australia's largest birds of prey. . The females are slightly larger than the males and can reach a wingspan of over 2.4m ... ... . They mate for life and build impressive large nests which not only provide shelter for their hatchlings, but also for smaller birds which often nest in the underside... pretty cool, no? . Sadly a lot of them get killed on the road while feasting on road kill... so please move dead animals WELL AWAY from the road, if it's a female marsupial, check the pouch!
