19.01.2022 The Sub-Secretariat of the Asia Pacific IWA is calling on all friends and supporters and those who believe in the rights of workers to support the IWA campaign ...for justice for 11 former Ansell Lanka workers unjustly sacked for attempting to unionise their workplace. This group of workers included some who had worked for the company for 20 years and decided to unionise their workplace to combat the intimidation they were subject to and to protect their interests. On 13 October 2013, they were summarily dismissed. The workers launched a legal action in the courts in Sri Lanka but the case has dragged on for almost 7 years with the Ansell company instructing their legal team to appeal and delay as much as is possible to thwart the workers pursuit of justice. In July 2020, the sacked Ansell Lanka workers appealed directly to the Sub-Secretariat of the Asia Pacific IWA for assistance. As a first step, the Asia Pacific IWA is calling for a campaign of protest emails to be sent to the following executives of the Ansell Company; Magnus Nicolin Managing Director and Chief Exceutive Officer, Email : [email protected] Catherine Stribley Company secretary, Email: [email protected] Please let them know of your concern that workers have been sacked for nothing other than exercising their right to organise as workers into a union and pursue and protect their interests by collective bargaining. The demands of the unjustly sacked Ansell Lanka workers are: *Condemnation of violence perpetrated by the Ansell Corporation against workers organising unions to protect their interests. * Condemnation of arbitrary termination of employment by the Ansell Corporation without due process of its workers for organising unions to protect their interests. *Demand the full re-instatement of the workers *Demand full compensation for loss incurred due to unjust termination of employment.

09.01.2022 Dear PPAS Comrades, The ASF sends its greeting to you on the occasion of your third Congress. We believe your achievements in building your organisation over th...e last few years are truly inspiring. We know a lot of work and serious thinking has gone into it. In this regard, we also send special welcome to the new sections of the PPAS in Pekalongan, Kendal and Magelang. We think it is important to remember that capitalism and the state are two heads of the same beast, authority: the authority of power and the authority of property. Destroying authority can only be final at the end of the revolution, but we kill parts of authority every time we create direct democracy by building our own institutions. This is the culture of anarchism: the building organisations we control directly and collectively, looking upon each other as equals. It is through this building that we see the members of PPAS express their freedom. There are very few organisations in the world right now as successful at building their own freedom and equality as the PPAS. We are proud to call you comrades, and you should be proud of your achievements. We in the ASF continue to look forward to the ASF and the PPAS supporting each other in the future as members of the IWA. Good luck for your Congress. We wish you all the best. Yours in the struggle, ASF-IWA Secretariat

07.01.2022 Freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality. Mikhail Bakunin

04.01.2022 Well done comrades! Solidarity!

03.01.2022 Meanwhile, two other great currents in political thought, had a decisive significance on the development of socialist ideas: Liberalism, which had powerfully stimulated advanced minds in the Anglo-Saxon countries, Holland and Spain in particular, and Democracy in the sense to which Rousseau gave expression in his Social Contract, and which found its most influential representatives in the leaders of French Jacobinism. While Liberalism in its social theories started off from ...the individual and wished to limit the state's activities to a minimum, Democracy took its stand on an abstract collective concept, Rousseau's general will, which it sought to fix in the national state. Liberalism and Democracy were pre-eminently political concepts, and since most of the original adherents of both did scarcely consider the economic conditions of society, the further development of these conditions could not be practically reconciled with the original principles of Democracy, and still less with those of Liberalism. Democracy with its motto of equality of all citizens before the law, and Liberalism with its right of man over his own person, both were wrecked on the realities of capitalist economy. As long as millions of human beings in every country have to sell their labour to a small minority of owners, and sink into the most wretched misery if they can find no buyers, the so-called equality before the law remains merely a pious fraud, since the laws are made by those who find themselves in possession of the social wealth. But in the same way there can be no talk of a right over one's own person, for that right ends when one is compelled to submit to the economic dictation of another if one does not want to starve.
