23.01.2022 THERE was only one place Queenslander Mary Hadden wanted to be on her 100th birthday - hitting the fairways at the Maroochy River Golf Club for her usual twice-weekly golf game. Mary, who reckons she still has a strong competitive streak, was surrounded by friends and fellow passionate golfers as she also marked 60 years of golf, a pastime she believes helped her reach her birthday milestone. 22.01.2022 By Martin Gallagher, NSW Super Senior Golf Association Captain A year like no other would be an apt description of 2020 with regard to the Super Senior Pennant. 17.01.2022 IT was sad to hear of the passing of legendary actor and renowned passionate golfer Sean Connery at the age of 90 the other day. Connery was of course well known for his academy award winning acting career - including his seven James Bond films - but increasingly it was his love of golf that garnered so much attention. Since Connery passed away "peacefully in his sleep" in his home in the Bahamas the tributes have been copious. [ 256 more words ] https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//vale-sean-connery-/

11.01.2022 By Noel Rowsell. The Western Sydney Region Veteran Golfers Association (WSRVGA) held its first Inter-Club event for 2021 on Friday 19th February at Wallacia Country Club. The event marked the welcome return of the WSRVGA Inter-Club events, following a 15-month hiatus since the previous event in October, 2019. Abysmal conditions welcomed the golfers at Wallacia, with relentless rain drenching both the players and the course, with many opting to either not show or cancel on the morning due to the weather.... https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//western-sydney-vet/

10.01.2022 By Larry Canning. We have this really good practice facility at Mt Broughton Golf Club which includes a ripper of a driving range. The customers have to come into the Pro-Shop to buy a basket of balls and I often ponder what is the motivation for their 35 or 70 ball size bucket of pellets. Is it so they can win the next monthly medal, or something far more complicated?... https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//ever-wondered-what/
10.01.2022 IT'S a popular meme in golf - less effort, more power - but what's an easy way to practice that. In this new offering from Shawn Clement's Wisdom in Golf Lessons series the well-known online coach first references three-time major winner Payne Stewart who used to practice hitting his driver just 125 yards with a full swing. He then turns to Tiger Woods [... https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//your-golf-driver-s/
10.01.2022 LOCAL star Robert Payne will be one of the players to watch when the NSW Men's and Women's Senior Amateur Championships begin on Monday. A former winner of this event, Payne lifted the Senior Amateur trophy at nearby Bathurst Golf Club in 2017. 10.01.2022 SORRY for the "Bloody L" headline but we couldn't resist it as a lead-in to this new golf tips video on the "L to L" Golf Swing. 10.01.2022 By Mark Hayes. Sandy Golf Links is a hot ticket for all of Melbourne’s golf loving community. The totally redesigned former Sandringham Golf Club, a public course in the heart of the famous Sandbelt, is enjoying surging patronage only weeks after its full 18-hole layout was opened. 05.01.2022 By David Tease, Golf NSW. COVID-19 may have derailed sporting activities for much of the community during 2020, but for golf, participation is booming across the State. 05.01.2022 By Larry Canning I’ve just had one of those sad experiences where I was left on a barstool, having a schooner all by myself. I tried to look like I was busy on my phone and totally not there for the customary afternoon beer with a mate at the local. I ordered a second, thinking/hoping someone would come in and say, 'G’Day Lazz', while pondering whether I’d even offer the old mate in the singlet who often waddles in and preys on the friendless drinkers with the sole purpose of being offered a freebie.... https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//larry-and-lappy-go/

02.01.2022 UK PGA 'Advanced Professional' Steve Johnston admits that being told not to turn your shoulders in the golf swing is not something you hear very often. Johnson readily suspects that golfers everywhere might think he has lost the plot... and you can't explain it all away by the fact that he is Scottish (Aren't they supposed to know how to do it?)... https://australianseniorgolfer.com.au//do-not-turn-your-s/
02.01.2022 WE’VE all had occasion to use them; the rickety old steel two wheel hire buggies that are ubiquitous at so many golf courses. You arrive at a course and because your own unit is out of action, you’re travelling, or any number of other reasons, you are forced to inquire about the hire buggies they have for use. All too often they point at a row of old steel units and sheepishly inform you it will cost, maybe, the princely sum of $5 for the honour. 01.01.2022 Andre Stolz has taken the title in his first major PGA Legends Tour event in his breakout year at the 2020 Australian PGA Senior Championship. Playing alongside fellow Aussie legends Peter Lonard and Peter O’Malley, the 50-year-old claimed victory with a three-round total of 9-under 201, four strokes ahead of Lonard in second place at 5-under par. A spectacular second round of 6-under 64 on Friday set up a smooth run home for Stolz in the final round, but the victory did not come without both challenges and excitement.
