22.01.2022 We are pleased to introduce the next step in our mission to recycle as much timber as possible with our new (very second hand) log truck! #LucasMill #Milledtimber
18.01.2022 A bit of water shows what the colour will look like once it’s sanded and polished.
17.01.2022 Cutting some Eucalyptus tereticornis slabs today. 600 to 900 wide and 4.3m long. So much better then turning it into firewood. Call us for a quote on your next timber project.
17.01.2022 More saved logs! I think this lot will be posts and rails for fences.
16.01.2022 A small job we did today. Great work from our team!!
13.01.2022 One very very dead Silky Oak (Grevillea robusta) Please call us before they get this bad! It will be much safer and cheaper
12.01.2022 Another happy customer! Reclaimed hardwood slabs that we milled from a storm damaged tree. Sadly this tree had to be removed, but it’s very satisfying giving the tree a new life as the bar tops of a country pub!
11.01.2022 Facebook is not very reliable for messages from this page. Please call or text Jason on 0415583100
11.01.2022 Slabs and very big posts. Making man glitter is good fun sometimes
11.01.2022 Nice tight spot in Faulconbridge today
11.01.2022 Big day today removing this large Eucalyptus crebra (narrow leaf Ironbark) that was split right through the included junction. Made worse by the wind.
11.01.2022 Today’s fun in the..... rain
09.01.2022 Another load of logs to be repurposed!! This lot are from Springwood. They should make a great number of posts and rails and beams for fencing and building.
08.01.2022 With a nice new engine, thanks to Waterhouse Auto Care. Michael Valantine’s MV Solar Datsun 1600 is ready to tackle the forests again!!
07.01.2022 First time we have needed such a big crane! 90 tonnes this one! We needed it this size for the reach. Close to 50 metres! The boys did an excellent job and the client was very impressed with how we were able to save this big old Eucalyptus saligna.
06.01.2022 *STOLEN*. From a fellow tree brother. Never have I ever read truer words.... Those couple seconds Watch any tree guy walk up to a tree with the intent of putting it on the ground. Notice those couple seconds they take right before making the first cut on their notch. During those couple seconds more is taking place than you can possibly imagine. A wealth of knowledge is being acessed like a mental rolodex. Some of it is from books and some from word of mouth but mo...st from getting out there everyday and living it. Knowledge passed down from long before you or I was born. They calculate the angle of the notch. They take into consideration the amount of lean and what direction. He calculates where the majority of the weight lays in the tree. They estimate the height of the tree and look for other trees limbs or widow makers that could snag break or knock loose and injure or kill one of his brothers. All this without a calculator or pen and paper only in their head all in those couple seconds. This isn't the only thing Happening in those critical couple seconds. Those of us who cut trees know that tomorrow isn't a given. With the potential to be crushed by unimaginable weight, the chance of being electrocuted by enough electricity to light a city, or fall from unspeakable heights the tree guys know all too well this tree could be their last. So in those couple seconds they also think of home. They think about that text in their pocket they didn't answer yet from their sweetheart asking what they'd like for dinner. They think about their little ones at home and how excited they'll be when he pulls into the driveway and walks to the door and how all of that is why they are out here cutting this tree in the first place. To put food on the plates and shoes on the feet. They think about the love letter tucked away in their dinner bucket. One written on old paper because they wrote it so long ago in case the unspeakable happens and how he hopes she will never get that letter. They think about how that morning played out and wonders if they remembered to tell their better half they loved them. They wonder if they tucked in the little ones tight enough. All of this takes place in those couple seconds. See more
05.01.2022 This should slab up nicely! Sadly it had some defects that made it unsafe for the school playground that it was in.
05.01.2022 Some before and after photos of these beautiful blackbutt posts that we milled! Please note, this is not my house. And it was the customer that sanded and installed the posts! Fabulous job!
04.01.2022 It’s very windy. Stay safe everyone, and don’t forget to call us if you need tree work done.
04.01.2022 We slabbed up these logs last week. Can you believe they were actually saved from the tip!!!!! Such beauty from what was thrown out by other tree companies Lucas Mill to the rescue!
