25.01.2022 HOW TO SURVIVE IN BUSINESS ***TIP #4: CONNECTION*** --Tips to Help You and Your Business Survive in Any Financial Climate-- ***TIP #4: CONNECTION ***... Right now, a lot of people are in fight or flight mode, not sure what to do, who to turn to, or how to survive. Which is why connection is a vital skill to have, both in business and personally, and with the world in lockdown, it may seem that opportunities to connect are limited. One way you could connect, is with yourself taking this opportunity to become self-aware and reflect! Connection is as much an internal skill as it is an external skill and as mentioned previously, YOU are essential to your business’ survival. As Benjamin Franklin said, Out of adversity, comes opportunity. Right now, you are going through your own experiences and when you come out of this on the other side, you will have built resilience and character. Most importantly, ADAPTIVE RESILIENCE! So how can you explore this personal connection and learn adaptive resilience? It all starts by asking yourself 3 questions: 1. What are you doing for your mind? 2. What are you doing for your body? 3. What are you doing for your spirit? Some examples: MIND - Feed your mind daily, with positive and uplifting podcasts, books, or webinars, or trying learning new skills, to help you post the current events. E.g. Surviving Business Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/565563234050413, Money and Investing Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com//money-and-investi/id1493465985 BODY - Exercise daily, go for a walk, be active or at least move on a regular basis, many yoga instructors, personal trainers or gyms are providing online programs. SPIRIT - Make time on daily basis to look inwards, reflect and meditate. There is lots of apps that can help you here, as mentioned previously Calm, Headspace, and many others find one that works for you. Be creative, innovative and adaptive! Find a purpose for yourself and your business to exist right now and it will become, self-fulfilling! Connect externally with like-minded people, business leaders and owners, now is not the time to sit ideal and wait for this to happen to you, but to take action and let what you choose, to happen for you. You need to respond to the environment, build your skillsets, your strengths, relationships, connections and partnerships. Resilience is your KEY right now! Support yourself and you will be able to support others! Feel free to contact us if you have any queries or questions regarding the information above. 16.01.2022 HOW TO SURVIVE IN BUSINESS ***TIP #5: KEEP MOVING FORWARD*** --Tips to Help You and Your Business Survive in Any Financial Climate-- ***TIP #5: KEEP MOVING FO...RWARD*** Get through the next 60 90 Days! You may be starting to feel the effects of fatigue, from trying to hold on too tight to everything in your life right now! You are not alone! Try this Make a tight a fist with your hands and squeeze it as tight as possible for as long as possible. No matter what you think or do, at some point you will have to open your hand because you cannot squeeze your hand that tightly in a fist forever. That is like you trying to hold on to control of everything in your life, the trick is to choose when to hold on and when to let go. Try not to overthink things! We all fail at times, so the point is to FAIL FAST, and to WIN FAST! 5 KEEPS to Moving Forward: 1. KEEP customer engagement 2. KEEP employees engaged/focused 3. KEEP cash flowing 4. KEEP continuity 5. KEEP spirit You need to keep your customers engaged or focused. A great way you can do that right now is through a weekly huddle or group video chat, giving your customers connection, a way to ask questions and keep engaged. The same applies to keeping your employees engaged or focused. If your employees are informed it will help to keep them focused on the task at hand which is to survive as a business and ultimately thrive. Transparency as a business is critical for that, and a weekly company huddle/meeting is the best platform to do this. Having cash flow, at any time in your business is a must, but now more than ever, it is CRITICAL! Focus your efforts on ways to keep cash flowing and I’m not talking about growing or maintaining your profits in your business. Try holding off payments to creditors or lenders where possible, scaling back on non-essential spending, calling in debts or outstanding invoices where possible or even taking out a business loan. See what the government stimulus could mean for you: https://rosenfeldkant.com.au/covid-19-relief-measures/ Maintaining continuity in your business during lockdown or while working from home or remotely is important to providing your customers with confidence. Some simple ways to achieve this could be making sure you dress accordingly for meetings or whilst working, maintain normal hours of operation/trade, and by setting up an appropriate workspace, minimizing distractions (obviously if you have kids’ distractions are going to happen). Finding ways to keep your own spirit and mentality in check is important, as mentioned in previous tips, you are essential to your business surviving. Find a support group, connect with business leaders in your network or find like-minded people who can raise you up. Seek counsel, NOT opinions. Mediation and mindfulness training are also important and can be a big help here. To get through the next 60 90 Days, you need to set some boundaries but also remember to have your standards to work towards. A great idea if you are looking for things to get through the next 60 - 90 days could be to work on a content strategy. E.g. blog posts, podcasts, social media, etc. If you are looking for more ideas or how to get started, contact us for a free consultation. No matter how big or small your business, if you use the right technology and integrate it into your business correctly it can have a massive impact on improving the efficiency and sustainability of your business. 1. Helps to boost your marketing Digital marketing is where it’s at these days. Technology allows you to build engaging and eye-catching websites, while social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn have a large reach which allows you to promote your business to a wider audience. Creating better customer service We live in a fast-paced environment which means it’s important to engage with our customers quickly and clearly. Going back to the first point, social media is a great platform that allows your team to reach out instantaneously if they have any questions. Alternatively having a website in place allows customers to jump online to find answers if they are not able to contact you directly. 4. Increases Flexibility Working from home is becoming very popular and it’s a great way to remain productive. Communicating with people has changed dramatically in the recent years with technology such as Skype or Zoom allowing you to contact multiple people in your team at any given time from any location. 5. 07.01.2022 HOW TO SURVIVE IN BUSINESS ***TIP #2: SELF CARE*** --Tips to Help You and Your Business Survive in Any Financial Climate-- ***TIP #2: SELF CARE***... As mentioned in the previous tip, now is the time to take stock and really dive deep, but not just into your business, but into yourself also. Self-care is so important! You need to evaluate what YOU need to SURVIVE, remembering that you are ESSENTIAL to your business surviving these events. Some will feel the effects psychologically, others emotionally, and some even physically. So how can you survive and potentially even thrive long-term? Knowing that eventually this will all pass and life will go on and you will REBUILD, STRONGER and more RESILIENT, is a good start! So in the same way that your business needs a plan to be efficient and sustainable, you need to make a PLAN to deal with what may confront you and EXECUTE as best as possible. And remember during these unprecedented times there will be many that feel and experience the same things as you, so don’t ever be afraid to ask for help or seek support. 4 WAYS TO DEAL WITH OR AVOID OVERWHELM: 1. Proper Breathing 2. Proper Hydration 3. Proper Blood Sugar Levels 4. Appropriate Mental Stimulation So what does that all mean? PROPER BREATHING - it is super important to maintain oxygen levels in your bloodstream so when you start to feel overwhelm take a few minutes to stop and meditate or just breathe. There are many great apps you can get for free like, Calm (https://www.calm.com/) or the breathing app on Apple Watch. PROPER HYDRATION - it is also super important to maintain our hydration levels in your body so when you start to feel overwhelm have a glass of water, even if you do not feel thirsty. Recommended daily intake for men is approx. 3.5L and women is 2.5L. PROPER BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS - having steady blood sugar levels is also super important and that starts with proper nutrition, consider eating a high protein snack, even if you don’t feel hungry. A handful of nuts or a protein bar are great snack options and can be kept in a desk draw. APPROPRIATE MENTAL STIMULATION - with social media available at your fingertips, it is more important than ever to be mindful of what you are feeding your mind before you go to bed and when you wake up a great tip is to not keep your phone next to your bed, to use no technology an hour or two before bed and the same after you wake up. Also remember to turn off/disconnect from technology at least once every 1-2 days for as long as possible. You need to learn how to live in BALANCE and remember to be compassionate and supportive of your community! 02.01.2022 HOW TO SURVIVE IN BUSINESS ***TIP #3: BE RESOURCEFUL*** --Tips to Help You and Your Business Survive in Any Financial Climate-- ***TIP #3: BE RESOURCEFUL***... During uncertain times people are always looking for someone or some organisation to take the lead or provide certainty! So how can you and your business be that someone or organisation who people look to for certainty? 3 TIPS TO CONSIDER: 1. How can you keep afloat? 2. How can you be more resourceful? 3. How can you communicate effectively? Firstly, you need to make sure you keep up your routines. Structure is so important, working from home or remotely can be very distracting, with TV, kids, chores, and even the fridge or pantry being huge distractions. If you had a routine you followed previously make sure you are sticking to it now, and if need be, adapt it to your current situation, little things like getting up at the same time everyday, getting dressed for work, having a shower, having a dedicated work space, can all make a huge difference. Also don’t forget that your body is your temple and you are the KEY to all this keeping afloat, so don’t forget your physical routine! Take time to exercise or move about as regularly as possible. Many fitness or personal trainers are offering virtual classes via video calls or online programs. Secondly, you need to learn to be adaptable and resourceful. Always look for opportunities to work on improving yourself and your business. Being CASUAL, leads to casualties. You can’t afford to be casual with yourself or your business. A great and easy place to start is by showing gratitude or giving to your community or clients, how can you help others? When you seek to help others not only are you filling a need inside yourself but you will be amazed at how resourceful you will become to achieve your end goal. Start with your mission or vision you want to achieve for your business. Is it still applicable right now or do you need to take a step back and evaluate? If you need to adapt your business model find someone who is doing what you want to be doing and asking them to mentor you. In the meantime find a way to be resourceful and adapt your business so you can be providing a service or good that is sought after. For example right now, taxi services are doing contactless parcel deliveries, in the US a strip joint has decided to do food deliveries, or restaurants that now offer phone order pickups and delivery, or service businesses moving online to provide virtual services. Thirdly, take this time to communicate regularly, picking up the phone giving your clients a call to just say, "Hi" and check in, or find an online support community of business leaders (Surviving Business https://www.facebook.com/groups/565563234050413/) or create some online content, do whatever you can to have contact with your clients and community. Right now with most people in LOCKDOWN, they are searching for connection more than ever. On a final note, always remember to express gratitude or find things to be grateful for, this will help you to continue to be the best you can be and not only survive, but thrive!
