21.01.2022 Swimming with penguins! At Plenty. This plucky and misguided creature is very lost. If we don’t get him back to salt water he will slowly get ill. At first we couldn’t believe our eyes. A penguin so far up river. But he would swim upstream over and over and then perhaps give up and let the river take him back down. Then repeat over and over. Tried to rescue him with the lovely people from #bonorongwildlifesanctuary But he didn’t show up when they did. He came re...ally close to us when swimming. Only a meter away which totally thrilled our international Wwoofers. Haven’t seen him for a couple of days now. Hopefully he has filled up on fish and is floating back to Bruny or the Antarctic. Such a special moment each time he came close even though it filled me with sadness that we couldn’t help. Apparently they come up river occasionally but not ever seen one so far inland before. 19.01.2022 Waste not want not. With #salamancamarket closed, we can’t sell our beautiful apples at, so what to do? The boys @lostpippin turned them into juice for us. And so delicious it is. The leftover pressed cakes of cores and skin go to our beautiful girls. What a pleasure it is to see them come running out of the bush as they smell our latest brews and hang out on the fence line just waiting for our latest offerings. So lovely to see their shiny coats after each brew’s refuse disappears in no time. They won’t get colds this winter! Apples elderberries and quinces.
