19.01.2022 A reminder that from 12.01am Saturday 14 November, WA transitioned to a controlled interstate border. Here are some of the measures in place to keep our community safe: Every traveller will need to complete a registration and declaration using G2G PASS to enter WA. Each G2G PASS will be scanned by an authorised officer upon arrival.... Every traveller will undergo a health screening upon arrival at Perth Airport. Anyone who has been in either VIC or NSW or who has knowingly come into contact with someone from VIC or NSW in the 14 days prior to entering WA will be required to quarantine for 14 days. Our safe and cautious approach may mean it takes extra time to clear Perth Airport. Travellers are advised to prepare for domestic travel as you would for an international flight. It is vital you do not travel if you are unwell. It is important we all work together to keep WA safe and strong.

16.01.2022 From Saturday, 14 November, Western Australia will transition to a safe and sensible controlled border arrangement based on the latest public health advice. The following changes will be introduced subject to the WA Chief Health Officer’s advice: Border changes: If every state and territory in Australia maintains a 14 day rolling average of less than five community cases per day of COVID-19, people will be allowed to enter WA from interstate without a travel exemption.... Quarantine changes: Based on health advice, there will be different rules in place for different states and territories, all depending on the level of risk posed by travel from each area. Quarantine requirements will continue to be at the discretion of an authorised officer upon arrival in WA. Low risk states and territories people arriving from a state or territory with less than five community cases per day on a 14-day rolling average, will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. These states currently include: NSW and VIC. If no suitable premises are available, the traveller may be directed to hotel quarantine at their own expense. Very low risk states and territories people arriving from a state or territory that has not had a community case of COVID-19 in the previous 28 days will not be required to quarantine upon arrival. These states and territories currently include: TAS, QLD, SA, ACT and NT. We will continue to follow the advice of the Chief Health Officer, who will closely monitor the situation in other states and territories, and will make new recommendations, if needed. It is important we all protect ourselves and others by following the health advice: Maintain healthy hygiene habits Keep a safe distance from others wherever possible Stay home if you are unwell If we all continue to work together and do our part we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 and maintain the health and wellbeing of all Western Australians. 15.01.2022 As the weather warms up, there will be more opportunities to host large community events. Events with more than 500 attendees may now be hosted subject to approval from the relevant local government authority. Previously, events of this size could only operate if they were part of core business. To demonstrate an event can operate safely, event organisers will need to complete a COVID Event Plan outlining the public health measures put in place to keep patrons safe. The event... will also need to be registered on the Department of Health Events Register: https://ww2.health.wa.gov.au/Articl/A_E/Events-registration The two square metre rule still applies to these events. Each event will be assessed on an individual basis and events deemed to be high risk may not be able to proceed. The introduction of COVID Event Plans will help businesses and the community enjoy vibrant and safe events. 07.01.2022 Pending ongoing health advice, from 12:01am on Saturday 14 November, Western Australia will transition to a controlled interstate border. The existing hard border exemption system will be removed and replaced with the controlled interstate border regime, established on an updated nationwide health-based threshold that allows for safe travel into Western Australia from interstate with conditions, and subject to trigger points being met. The Chief Health Officer has recommended... a 14-day rolling average of less than five community cases per day in each state and territory be required before progressing to the new border controls. This condition is currently being met. Under this system, travel from ‘very low risk’ states and territories will be permitted, with conditions on arrival including declarations, temperature tests and possible COVID-19 testing. These jurisdictions currently include Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory because they have had no community cases for more than 28 days. Travel from ‘low risk’ states and territories also permitted, with similar conditions on arrival, in addition to 14 days of self-quarantine and a mandatory Day 11 COVID-19 test. These jurisdictions currently include New South Wales and Victoria because they have less than five community cases per day on a 14-day rolling average. Failure to follow these directions or providing false information will be enforceable by law, with penalties ranging from $1,000 infringements, to up to $50,000 fines for individuals. The controlled border still includes important and strong protections and we must also maintain our vigilance and embrace COVID-safe principles. That means acting responsibly and following the health advice.

01.01.2022 Today the Western Australian Government formally launched the new G2G Now App - an important new tool to ensure people in 14 days self-quarantine follow the rules and keep our community safe. This new app will complement the work of WA Police, to allow them to check-in on people remotely, while in self-quarantine. As a result of this technology, the next steps to ease some of WA's border restrictions will come into place from Monday, 5 October.... This will see arrivals to Western Australia who have been in Victoria in the previous two weeks will be allowed to complete self-quarantine, instead of in a hotel, where that is possible. The limited exemption categories for Victorian arrivals will continue to apply and they will continue to be subject to mandatory COVID-19 tests on arrival and on day 11 of their quarantine. Also from Monday, 5 October, the additional restrictions which had applied to New South Wales will be lifted. That will mean that the current conditions that apply to other States and Territories, except Victoria, will now apply to NSW as well. This change will allow for more exempt travel to occur from New South Wales. Refer to WA Government and HealthyWA for COVID-19 updates and guidelines as we continue to reduce the spread of this disease.
