21.01.2022 We thought we’d share some insights into the magic of sourdough over a few posts... Many people have asked us, Why is it that I can digest your bread, when most store-bought breads make me feel bloated? We love hearing this question, because it’s proof that the sourdough is doing its job Like other fermented foods, sourdough is praised for its digestibility. Genuine sourdough is naturally leavened using a ‘starter’, which contains wild yeast and bacteria (note: no comm...ercial yeast is used). Through the long fermentation process, the yeast and starter break down some of the starches and gluten-forming proteins found in flour and indeed, a great deal of the gluten is broken down. Simply put, sourdough is ‘pre-digested’ for you, which noticeably aids with digestion. This is one of the reasons sourdough can be eaten by those who normally experience discomfort from commercially produced bread. Just one of the many reasons to love sourdough! What do you love most about sourdough?

20.01.2022 Happy Monday, folks... we hope you had a fabulous weekend and lapped up some of those rays! We’ll be at the @yambarivermarkets this Sunday and hope to see you there for your bread’n’bun fix!

20.01.2022 Nothing beats a grilled cheese sandwich using organic sourdough... all it needs is some extra sharp cheddar, before being buttered and grilled to perfection and finished with a sprinkling of sea salt. Sometimes it’s nice to keep things simple. Come get your carb fix this weekend at the @harwoodislandhotel Farmers Market this Saturday, 9-12. Spread the word and we look forward to seeing you there!

15.01.2022 Another great day of sunshine and market vibes @harwoodislandhotel Farmers Market today. Thanks for everyone who came along with a smile and an appetite for sourdough and sin-amon scrolls! So if you missed out on some of the goodies today, be sure to get in nice and early tomorrow. Hope to see you mañana

07.01.2022 Hope everyone’s having a relaxing Friday evening after a busy week! For those who were planning on heading to the Harwood Farmers market tomorrow, we thought we’d let you know that unfortunately, the market has been put on hold for the time being. We wanted to extend a massive thank you to those who supported us each fortnight and spread the good word about Ashby Sourdough. You can find us each Wednesday @yamba_farmers_market and the @yambarivermarkets once a month. Hope to see you soon!

06.01.2022 Sun is shining..weather is sweet. And basket are all loaded up with freshly baked loaves. We have rustic white, rye, wholemeal, fruit’n’nut, and baguettes for you. And of course, sourdough sweet’n’sticky cinnamon buns are fresh out of the wood fired oven this morning. Come say hello from 9-12.

05.01.2022 There’s a little ebony and ivory scenario going on right now as I experiment in the kitchen... Activated charcoal meets rustic white. Reminds me of the moon...or those yin & yang bracelets from the 90s. Who knows how it will turn out, but I look forward to lifting the lid on this one!
