12.01.2022 Last week, Ashdale Secondary College promoted the role of the 'Upstander'. An 'Upstander' is someone who takes action against bullying behaviour. When an Upstander sees someone being bullied, they do something about it. They help to stop the bullying from happening, or they support the person being bullied. The Skittles ally students supported their peers to work through some Upstander strategies and create a beautiful rainbow.
11.01.2022 Today was R U OK? Day and our Student Services Team certainly looked amazing in yellow! 2020 has been a challenging year meaning that it is even more vital for us all to stay connected, and, for those who are able, support those around us. This year's message for R U OK? Day is 'there's more to say after R U OK?' During Mentor this week, students were shown presentations on how to support someone when the answer is 'no, I am not OK.' We don't have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. Just being there to support someone can make a really positive difference in their life.

10.01.2022 Year 7 and 8 students have been investigating nutrients and the importance behind healthy eating in Home Economics. Through their research, they have discovered that most of them do not consume the recommended five serves of vegetables a day. Last week they made a green smoothie which included two serves of vegetables. Students were surprised with how delicious it tasted and how easy it was to have two serves of vegetables into a quick and easy breakfast. Public education in Western Australia
