25.01.2022 A good summary of what constitutes 'reasonable management action' when behaviour is being assessed whether it is bullying or not. http://www.hcamag.com//bullying-update-what-is-reasonable-

25.01.2022 6 steps to reduce the risk of workplace bullying by Charles Power Editor-in-Chief, Employment Law Practical Handbook Take the following steps to reduce the risk of bullying occurring in your workplace:... Step 1: Conduct a bullying risk assessment. A bullying risk assessment is assessing what could happen if someone was to become exposed to bullying and the likelihood of and seriousness of any injury, illness or damage that could arise. Safe Work Australias Guide for Preventing and Responding to Workplace Bullying suggests that the following steps should be taken in assessing the risk caused by bullying in your workplace: identify bullying risk factors; assess the likelihood of bullying occurring and its impact; control the risks by eliminating them, or where that is not reasonably practicable, minimising the risks as far as reasonably practicable; and review the effectiveness of the control measures. Step 2: Implement a bullying policy. Ensure your policy includes: a definition of bullying with examples of bullying behaviour; a statement that the business is committed to preventing bullying; the standards of appropriate behaviour; a process to encourage reporting, including contact points; and the consequences for not complying with the policy. Step 3: Implement a grievance procedure that sets out how to deal with complaints of bullying. Your grievance procedure must: be fair and without bias; ensure privacy and confidentiality; aim to resolve the problem as quickly as possible; allow workers to make a formal or informal complaint; prevent victimisation; set out the chain-of-command responsibilities; have review and appeal procedures; and identify external avenues if the grievance remains. Step 4: Educate everyone in the workplace about bullying. Provide training sessions on the policy and make your policy easily accessible for your workers, e.g. on the intranet or noticeboards. Step 5: Review the policy regularly and update it as required to ensure that its effectiveness is maintained. Step 6: Consider adopting other preventative measures, such as: providing access to employee assistance programs; having a speaker from HR, senior management (e.g. the CEO or managing director) or an external organisation come to staff meetings to discuss issues of acceptable behaviour; and arranging an organisational development activity to strengthen your workers connections with one another and build understanding about different working and personal styles See more

23.01.2022 Recommendation from Michael Evans CEO The Australian Security Academy It takes courage, integrity and vision to create a specialist investigation business serving government. Bryan's perception in rising to the challenge and persistently meeting the expectations of not just an industry, but the workers, management and ultimately responsible political leaders within it is admirable. Bryan has put together a team of professionals, who conduct fair, just, reasonable and independ...ent investigations in the government workplace. As added value at Ashdale Bryan Cook has developed a professional development training program aimed at reducing the amount of investigations Ashdale receives, through capacity building awareness programs and policy / procedure development. In my opinion Bryan's achievement is the outstanding highlight of Queensland's Investigation Industry in this last decade. I highly recommend Bryan Cook to any one seeking, internal dispute resolution, internal inappropriate behaviour or conduct investigations and grievance prevention strategy training See more

10.01.2022 Even though there's been an increased focus on the pitfalls of not properly dealing with workplace complaints, it's amazing how often we still come across organisations that have nothing in place and even when they respond to something, they don't record any details to help to defend themselves later. http://community.hrdaily.com.au/profiles/blog/show
