25.01.2022 This poor little dependent boy came into the world today and was regrettably rejected by his mother. Nature can be so harsh sometimes. We now have him in a little pen, are keeping him warm and feeding him every 3 hours.... That's right, every three hours even through the night We're trying not to get too attached because bottle feeding new borns is fraught with risks and it's 50/50 if he makes it. But he's so very cute #anyonewanttoadoptalamb

24.01.2022 It's a veritable menagerie here at Ashdowns. Our cat Bruiser is quite wary of the lamb and the chicken as usual has no idea what's going on. And the lamb just wants more food and to frolic. ... Just another day at the B&B.

24.01.2022 It turns out, Gary is fluent in lamb. They were having a good ol' chat when Gary introduced our ram lamb to his new overnight lodgings. Complete with heating.

19.01.2022 Evenings down by the river are so peaceful. Did you know that in the height of summer it's still light at 9pm to 9.30pm in southern Tasmania? Sitting down here with a glass of something, hoping to see a platypus or wallaby and definitely watching and listening to the myriad of birds coming home to nest is the best way to see out the day.

17.01.2022 Went for a walk around Dover this morning and came across this lovely garden of snowdrops. Spring is definitely in the air when these little beauties are in bloom. Ahh Spring. Warmth, new life, hope.... Some of the things we need as we navigate our way out of this pandemic. We'll get there, I'm sure of it.

17.01.2022 It's blossom season! In addition to the beautiful golden wattle trees currently in bloom, fruit trees and ornamental fruit trees are letting us know that warmer weather is just around the corner. And do you know what's next?... Lambing season!

15.01.2022 I am not bonding with him. I am not bonding with him!

13.01.2022 This season's first strawberries from our garden. I hope there'll be a glut that we can turn into jam. However I have my doubts this handful will make it anywhere near the jam pot.... #getinmabelly

06.01.2022 Our orphaned ram is 10 days old today and as you can see, he's quite robust. We're down to 5 bottle feeds a day (thankfully no more 2am feeds!). He's hanging out with the rest of the flock and slowly coming to the realisation that he's a sheep and not human.... So far, so good and may the good luck continue

03.01.2022 Our ewes couldn't have picked a better Spring day to start lambing. Topsy has introduced us to her twins that were born earlier this morning and another ewe had a lamb today as well. That means the rest of the girls will be lambing in the next few days and that means........ Lamb spam!

01.01.2022 Today's walk around Dover. Lots of people out and about enjoying the spring day. Lots of families too celebrating Father's Day.... Shout out to those doing it tough in isolation and lockdown and missing their dads. We're thinking of you
