23.01.2022 We have sustained a very long and protracted commitment for our firefighters this seasoon. We have been fighting for over 100 days which is a third of a year. Many will be tired, overwhlemed and not sure how to deal with their emotions. The last chapter of my book deals with Post Traumatic stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I encourage you to learn about the experiences of our firefighters so you are able to assist if need be. Tell them: Spend time with people who car...e Give yourself time Find out about the impacts of trauma and what to expect Try to keep a routine going i:e work, study Return to normal activities Talk about how you feel or what happened when ready What you can do right now..? Do the things you enjoy Most of all dont keep it bottled up, share, and dont be afraid to talk about your emotions. www.ashesofthefirefighters.com.au #NSWFires #Firefightershealth #Lookoutforourfirefighters See more

Communities are ripped apart while the world moves on. This is reality for so many people, this is the truth of recovery after a major bushfire. Thank you Mark McGowan the world needs to know.
