24.01.2022 Weaning your child off the dummy and things to consider... As a parent, you’re best placed to decide on the right time for the dummy to go it’s your decision! Sometimes children decide to give up their dummies by themselves. Most often, parents are the ones who decide.... Hope the article below may help provide ideas and tips.

22.01.2022 It's been a musically fun and crafty month for the children at AELC learning of different musical instruments, rhythm, music crafts, singing, dancing, musical drawing, xylophone science experiments, and many more! We'd also like give special thanks to one of our AELC family Bukhu Ganburged (well known for his throat singing) for stopping by to talk to the children about his musical background, his musical instrument (Horse Head Fiddle) and to perform for us.

20.01.2022 A new month brings a new theme. Our preschoolers new theme for February is: Friendship! Today in group time, we asked the preschoolers: "What makes a good friend?" The children actively participated, given lots of thought on it before they put their hands up to share their thoughts. We look forward to build strong friendship in 2020!... At AELC, we focus on helping our children to develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation.

19.01.2022 In this difficult and uncertain times with the COVID-19 pandemic, please take care of your own (and children) mental health and well-being. It will mean a lot to some and goes a long way with a simple gesture of reaching out and checking in with your friends and loved ones. Keep calm, be safe, be smart, be caring and kind to each other.

17.01.2022 Theme of the month for our baby room is: sea creatures! The children have been introduced and exposed to a wide variety of activities relating to underwater life through water play, sensory, flash cards, paintings, etc. Bubs were curious and fascinated with the different shapes and colours of the sea creatures. We're amazed on how well they interacted verbally and non-verbally with the educators so far on the theme to express themselves whilst learning the names of the sea creatures.

15.01.2022 A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful AELC educators, our superheroes! Last week we gave AELC staff a little treat with thank you cupcakes and a mini team dinner as a small gesture of our appreciation for their hard work, and for going above and beyond in this uncertain times. #ashfieldelc #staffappreciation #educatorlife #childcare #innerwestchildcare

14.01.2022 Easter COVID-19 take-home DIY hat kits (for those children who are currently not attending our service) ready for collection! At AELC we strive on being close-knit and inclusive community. During this unprecedented time, even though absentees will be missing out on a range of Easter activities including Easter hat making and the highly anticipated Easter hat parade, they would still be able to engage in Easter hat making activities at home with their families with our easy t...o use and fun DIY kit. Strict hygiene, cleaning and social distancing measures are being enforced at AELC. Have a safe and happy Easter everyone!

10.01.2022 At AELC we recognise the importance of diversity. Today the preschoolers watched and listened to the story 'The Colors of Us' by Karen Katz. "Seven-year-old Lena discovers that the color brown is not just one shade and that people come in many different colors. As her mother takes her for a walk through their neighborhood, Lena sees how each person is a wonderful shade and different from all others." An interesting piece of work by Karen Katz with detailed, creative, and colo...urful images to illustrate about loving the skin that you're in and acknowledging the beauty of the skin that others are in. We asked the children what they thought the story was about. Some of their answers were: - We are all different - We're colours of the rainbow - People have different hair and skin colours - We're all different colours

05.01.2022 At AELC, both the children and staff's health and safety are one of our highest priorities. We believe that setting good example of practicing good hygiene at all times will help educate and encourage our little ones of appropriate handwashing practice.

04.01.2022 It's crazy hair day! One of the children's favorite event of the year... Crazy Hair Day is an annual fundraising event to raise awareness about Cystic fibrosis held in childcare and schools across Australia. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common inherited, life threatening condition affecting young Australians. For a child to be born with CF both parents must be genetic carriers for CF. Cystic Fibrosis is life shortening and there is no cure. All money raised during Crazy H...air Day goes towards helping the Cystic Fibrosis Federation in Australia provide vital support to those suffering from cystic fibrosis. Thank you to all AELC families and friends who contributed! #crazyhairday #makeadifference #ashfieldelc

03.01.2022 A gentle reminder to all AELC community and FB friends on the importance of safe storage of medications and household poison. Stay safe, be vigilant and disciplined with safe storage and good hygiene practices, wherever you are.

01.01.2022 Each year National Reconciliation Week (27 May 3 June) celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. This year's theme for National Reconciliation Week is #InThisTogether2020. Children at AELC were exposed to a variety of learning experiences to develop and give children a greater understanding of the purpose of National Reconciliation Week. We've also made a poster with all of the child...ren's feet for our classroom. The children each traced their foot and then used Aboriginal dot painting art to decorate. 2020 marks the twentieth anniversary of the reconciliation walks of 2000, when people came together to walk on bridges and roads across the nation and show their support for a more reconciled Australia. The children's feet symbolise our classroom's unity .

01.01.2022 World Environment Day is a day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment! Following up on our introduction on this with the preschoolers, we took the children out on an excursion to Allman Park to pick up litter. A quick briefing on the objective and safety guidelines (including wearing of gloves) was held upon arriving at the park before everyone began the activity. Strict hygiene and safety measures were enforced and observed for each child during and after the excursion. Educators later asked the children what happens when we leave our rubbish at the park, at the beach, or litter our street? Their responses were that animals can die, choke, and our air and water gets polluted. Well done kids!!
