23.01.2022 New Covid measures for students that have flu-like symptoms The absent student must undertake a Covid-19 test and provide a negative result to the school prior to returning. They must also have no current flu-like symptoms. As some doctors may not provide a certificate of the negative diagnosis, an email outlining:... The date that the doctor was seen or that the student attended a Covid clinic The date and time of the Covid-19 test The result of the Covid-19 test including: whom informed you, how and when. Is required as evidence of the negative result. A detailed example for parents: On Thursday, Sally has a runny nose and is coughing consistently. Her mother decides to keep her at home and so notifies the school. Her mother calls and states that Sally is exhibiting flu-like symptoms. The school asks when Sally is looking to be tested for Covid-19. Sallys mother says that they are going to the doctor tomorrow. Sally sees the doctor on Friday and is told to go to the Hospital on Monday for a test. Sally and her mother see a doctor on Monday and take the test. Sally is looking much better and feeling well. Sallys mother calls the school to say that Sally is feeling well and that the test result is due back on Wednesday. On Wednesday, Sallys mother emails the school: Sally was unwell with flu-like symptoms and saw Dr Halg on Friday 21/08/20. She then attended Inverell Hospital on Monday 24/08/20 and was tested by Dr Felnt for Covid-19. On Wednesday, 26/08/20 I was called by the hospital and told that Sallys result was negative. Sally is feeling fine now and not presenting with any flu-like symptoms. Sally returns to school on Thursday.

22.01.2022 Wattleseed flour - on Monday our Primary students were lucky enough to borrow Liza Duncan grinding stones. They used the grinding stones to grind wattle seeds into flour. The students are going to use the flour to make damper.
22.01.2022 Last Thursday, 5-6 students were learning about earthquakes. They made a wave machine to understand how the force of an earthquake moves. It was also a tasty experience
20.01.2022 YEAR 10 INTO YEAR 11 SUBJECT SELECTION AFTERNOON The year 10 into Year 11 subject selection afternoon is cancelled due to Covid 19 restrictions. Students will have information delivered in school time. The information session will be recorded and uploaded to Facebook for parent access. 12.01.2022 Whole School Cross Country will be held this Friday 4th September. All students are expected at school to attend the Cross Country on Friday. Teachers will mark the roll and will supervise students walking to the town oval and provide a clear outline of the course for each student. Students are to wear their house colours, bring their own water bottles, sunscreen and hats.... Canteen will not be available at the oval, but will be available at school for lunchtime for those that ordered at school. Unfortunately, NO parents are to attend due to the COVID-19 restrictions. 12.01.2022 This term Year 9/10 Food Technology have been studying a unit called "Bush Tucker to Contemporary Cuisine. We have cooked dishes using bush tucker ingredients and meals from various countries of the world. The highlight of the topic was having Mr Pintus as our celebrity chef. He helped the students prepare and cook Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni which is a traditional Italian dish. Mr Pintus also shared stories about his Italian heritage and about growing up in Ashford. It was a very enjoyable lesson and the food was delicious! Thank you Mr Pintus.
12.01.2022 Parent Information Afternoon - Wednesday August 19th from 3.10 p.m. Ashford Central Secondary Department will be conducting a Parent / Teacher information session next Wednesday August 19th from 3.10 p.m. in the school library. ... The session will be for the Parents and Students of Year 10, to explain HSC requirements,subject selections and choices for 2021. Also information about School Based Traineeships and Apprenticeships will be discussed. A representative from TAFE will hopefully be available via Zoom. A subject booklet will be given to each student and the talk will allow you to gain an understanding of requirements of the Higher School Certificate. 11.01.2022 Our school continues to reflect the high standards we all expect for our students with the shade sails project completed this morning. This SunSmart initiative will provide significant shade areas for play and outdoor learning environments. We also have provided shade for our Breakfast Club area and the Cricket nets! We are so proud of our school!

10.01.2022 School Operations Update: 21/08/20 Dear Ashford School Community, I write to provide clarity to parents around the Covid-19 flu-like symptoms advice.... If your child is sick (with no flu-like symptoms) and unable to attend school. Please advise the office: "my child is away from school today, does not have flu-like symptoms and will return..." If your child is sick and has flu-like symptoms. Please advise the office: "my child has flu-like symptoms and will be getting tested for Covid-19. I am aware that he/she will not return to school until they are tested Negative for Covid-19 and have no flu-like symptoms". This is a direction from the Department of Education to ensure that our school can manage this complex situation. Please call us on 67254101 if you need any assistance.
09.01.2022 NAIDOC Field Trip Information Please be advised that students are able to wear long pants and sturdy boots to school for the NAIDOC activities scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday 10th November), rather than changing into them. Students will need to wear their usual school shirt.

05.01.2022 Year 12 are doing a lolly jar guessing competition to raise money for Sunhaven. It costs 50 cents for one guess or $1 for three guesses. The lolly jar will be outside the Year 12 room during recess and lunch. The winner will be announced at the Principals assembly on Friday, 25th September.
03.01.2022 Thank you to all of our amazing staff and students for their organization and participation in our field trip today. Everyone had a fabulous day and engaged in some wonderful cultural experiences. We were extremely lucky to have Northern Tablelands Local Land Services help us with the buses for the day and Armajun Health Service Aboriginal Corporation supply BBQ facilities for our lunch. We thank both of these organizations for bringing along experts and Elders, to provide a... spectacular educational experience for our students. An abundance of praise goes to the generous lands owners who allowed us to take our students onto their property for the day. Thank you to Simon and Jenny Gregson. We are humbled by your willingness to support our students’ learning. We look forward to sharing more pictures once we download them next week.
03.01.2022 Year 11 Hospitality - Practical Assessment Task Maple Syrup French Toast with Bacon and Roasted Tomatoes was the dish that Year 11 served Year 12 for the Breakfast/Brunch luncheon on Monday. The students performed well and the meal was delicious. Well done Year 11.
