21.01.2022 My serious photographic journey started back in 2013 when I attended a workshop at Bunkers Bay with Christian Fletcher and Nick Rains. That weekend was quite overwhelming to take in that much information. The next workshop I attended was the one at @Home Valley Station in the East Kimberley’s, again with Christian and Nick. Listening recently to one of Fletch’s podcasts I decided to start going back over past work. This about the only image I am really happy with from that week....what was I thinking with some of my first edits...... Over the coming weeks I am hoping to find the time to go back and re edit and lose some of the over saturation that I thought was really cool at the time. I hope you like this image of a Kimberley Boab Tree which was just across the Pentecost River on El Questro Station.

18.01.2022 Nice to see some of my images out in the public. Thanks to the team GWN7 for the work.

16.01.2022 Not the greatest image I have taken by any accounts, however given it was after deadline, late in the day with crap lighting I'm still pretty chuffed to have had a front page of a national publication.

13.01.2022 After some years in the planning we were able to tick of a bucket list item for us and our friends. Dirk Hartog Island has been a location I had learnt about way back in primary school. What then spurned a renewed interest was the Return to 1616 program run by the Department of Parks and Wildlife. When Dirk Hartog visited in 1616, the island had intact vegetation and rich mammal fauna. Since then, introduced plants and animals had degraded the island and native animals have d...isappeared. The Return to 1616 program is an ambitious program but I hope it works. The journey is not easy as you have to get yourselves to Steep Point first, then board the barge and from there get yourselves to your campsite. The island is 80 kms in length and the road system is basic at best. We did 746 kms from Overlander Roadhouse & return at an average speed of 24.9 km/h, 17.4l/100km. From fill to fill (+ 3 x 20 litres) we used 130 odd litres of fuel. I was having problems with my gauges so I was unsure of how much fuel I had left. In hindsight/next time I would pre order some fuel on the island so I could have extended travels a bit more. We have 1 night initially at the Homestead (approx 45 mins from boat landing) and then 3 nights at Turtle Bay campsite and then back to the Homestead for another three. Allow 4 hours from Overlander Roadhouse to get into Steep Point. From our return from the island we had a night in Carnarvon, visited the Kennedy Ranges and the campsites there were full so we went to Mangaroon Creek and onto Mt Augustus. Rising 715m above the surrounding alluvial plain, Mount Augustus (Burringarrah to the local Wajarri people) is an inselberg meaning island mountain. There are rocky creeks, gorges and open plains. The national park was gazetted in 1989 is made up of parts of former stations Mt Augustus and Cobra station. There is a 49 km good drive around the mountain to many interpretive sites. There is two main walks. One to the summit from Beedodoondu (you can take the easy way or hard way) and both vary between 5 & 8 hours return. The second walk is Ooramboo to Edney's lookout. This takes in the northern vista over the tourist park out towards Dalgety Downs. From Mt Augustus we had a night at newly opened for camping Glenburgh Station. Cheap as chips $12 per vehicle for hot water showers, flushing toilets. They offer self drive station tours for a fee of $5 for the map. We knew weather was coming in so thought we might beat the road closures..we were wrong and had an extra night at Murchison Oasis until the roads opened the next morning. Good rains in the Gascoyne Murchison should see another bumper wildflower season. In total 3848 kms, average speed of 55 kph using 14.5l/100km. Sorry for the long post and heaps of photos.

13.01.2022 On the WA Day long weekend we did parts of the Wheatbelt Way in the North Wheatbelt. This is a self drive tour through an area that boasts a rich and extensive history, lovely friendly people, located in a truly diverse landscape. There are stunning natural surrounds & sites of historical significance. The total Wheatbelt Way Drive trail is 800 - 1000kms depending on how many detours you wish to make. There are excellent caravan parks, country hotels, B & B's or camping out... in free camping areas. It starts in Dowerin and goes through another 8 regions such as Wyalkatchem, Koorda, Bencubbin, BEacon, Westonia, Mukinbudin, Nungarin & Trayning. More information can be found at www.wheatbeltway.com.au

08.01.2022 Pretty sure found the new happy place. Even better having the opportunity to share a bucket list adventure with my son Jayden. @Go Horizontal Tours was the company we went with. Couldn't fault the trip. In the end had to just put the camera down and enjoy it!

06.01.2022 Here’s a good news story.

06.01.2022 180 degrees behind was a magnificent 100m high gorge. I didnt get one image of it as I didn’t think I could do it justice! However at the back of our campsite was this view each night with the rising moon. Composition isn’t everything! 1/60, f2.8 ISO 200

06.01.2022 Just a small taste of what’s to come in an album full of Dirk Hartog Island delights

05.01.2022 With this COVID-19 business going on, the gardens have been done, the shed has been cleaned, a fair bit of the housework has been tidied up, old clothes thrown out, shoes cleaned etc etc...Looks like I can get back into looking for sites like this for when we can travel. How do you plan your travels? I tend to think of a destination, look at paper maps and then use apps/web pages like Ozi Explorer, Hema Explorer App and then look for points of interest. This gives me a rough guide, best thing is though using Google Earth to look at the roads you are going to travel and then look for side tracks. Side tracks will lead you to beauties like this.

04.01.2022 If anyone needs their air conditioners or fridges serviced. My son unfortunately has been put off with this Corona Virus business. If you want any work done..please get in contact.
